In my day we were called freight traffic managers. (1956 to 1960)Passenger, house hold goods and freight. I went to Teck school at Shepperd Air Force Base Texas and then deployed to Tachikawa AFB Japan for two years. Then to Loring AFB Me. In all did all the different jobs that my AFSC 60251 allowed me to do. it was a good job. Never got bored.

I work closely with TMO as a 2T271. Great job and lots to learn. Can be an enjoyable field to be in as well. To add as far as civilian side this job pays extremely well. Boeing is one of the biggest takes of 2T2 personnel and so is Atlas, FedEx/UPS, General Dynamics, L3 and for government, DOD, DLA, NASA to name a few

Fellow TMO dude here, nice interview! Definitely agree with the deployment tempo, it’s kind of ridiculous at certain places. I’ve just got a few things to add. We also handle the logistics movement of service members House Hold Goods. Another job we perform is Passenger Travel, which is basically the issuing of airplane tickets normally at government expense. TMO is a very diverse career field. Challenging yet rewarding. Hope this little bit of info helped!

Anonymous Fitness It just depends on where you actually work. Normal shifts are 7 to 4:30 at most places but there are times when It calls for 12 hour shifts depending on location and how busy It is. Yes you can be stationed pretty much anywhere with TMO.

12 hours is the most you'll work in the military. Haha yeah that was a good one. I'm security forces right now and looking to cross train, for obvious reasons like 15 hour days, shift working schedule, alot of off days being used for training instead of actually having days off, alot of deployments, and it's just a very petty political career field. This video was helpful. Thank you!

How do you plan to become an officer? Get your two year degree while you are still enlisted and then get out and do AFROTC while finishing your BS? That was my plan for a while when I was I was in the Army, and I did get my community college AS degree during my 4 years, but then once I was out, I just couldn't get myself to go back. I know I would have enjoyed the military much more if had joined the AF instead of the Army, and I was kind of jealous of my AF friends when we compared stories about our jobs and life in the military. Now I have a 2 year old son, and already hoping he can be an AF or Navy officer in the future, but that is still a long way off! But I am not sure it would be helpful to enlist first. Since you knew early on that you wanted to be an officer, what made you decide to enlist first? Knowing what you know now, do you think that was best way? Sorry for so many questions in one post, but you seem helpful and knowledgeable so thanks in advance for your time.
