How The Hip did not become world-famous escapes me. They were a GREAT band! So much better than the shit out there today!

One of favorite my songs ever. I will never, for the life of me, understand how Americans at large are so unappreciative of the Hip's incredible music and one of the most gifted front men to ever grace a stage. I've seen them a half dozen times and that final tour ripped my heart out.

OMGordie! I'm not Canadian, I'm an aussie but this song means so much to me right now. My parents have been married for 55 years and they are my everything. My mum has dementia and my dad is her primary carer. She has delusional outbursts and thinks that my dad has stolen her money and she gets really confrontational with him. My dad rang me today in tears asking me to come over and help him out because he can't deal with this on his own... This song xx00

11 live shows over 14 years from the West-East coast of Canada. I cherish the fond memories, Loved to watch the mic stand dancing. Things are not the same but I play that serenading voice on repeat and it gets me through life. Rest early by brother-see you on the flip side . Much love 🫶🏻

thats what i love about the Hip.ZERO LIP SYNC. puts their all EVERYTIME. even on their last tour, never in his life had teleprompters, but his last tour he needed 6 of them and read almost every line and still did it better then most. never will there be a better frontman(not to say none as good, just none better)

This was just a year after I moved to San Diego 9/2008. Is this the Landmark in SYR? Same place I saw them in the 90s when they released Day For Night. I remember Nautical Disaster and how the crowd sang the lines of the song..."I had this dream, where I relished, the fray..." The Canadian flags hanging from the balcony. The Hockey jerseys with "The Hip" on them and how I met my girlfriend that night...hi Michelle. Some of the best times of my life. I have been listening to the Hip since their first CD (Yes I own it...taking bids now, it's in mint condition too) lol I bought it in a little record shop in A Bay NY above Skiffs bar, I was in my early 20s then...51 now. Good times that I will never forget and the Hip wrote the soundtrack to my life back then. Thanks Gord and Co for all of the memories in A Bay, Syracuse and of course Ktown (AJs and Stages etc.) and all of the long drives along the 401 to see you live and of course the "Kingston Ballet". Those who know...know. :) It has definitely been a Long Time Running but well worth the wait.

Does your mother tell you things? Long, long when I'm gone? Who you talking to? Is she telling you I'm the one? It's a grave mistake and I'm wide awake. Drive-in's rained out Weatherman wet-fingers the sky He pokes it out, he pulls it in He don't know why It's the same mistake It's been a long time running It's been a long time running It's well worth the wait We don't go anywhere Just on trips We haven't seen a thing We still don't know where it is It's a safe mistake It's been a long time running It's been a long time running Well, well it's all the same mistake Dead to rights and wide awake I'll drop a caribou, I'll tell on you I'll tell on you, I'll tell on you You've got a boat-load of nerve But I would say you've been told You work me against my friends And you'll get left out in the cold It's the same mistake It's been a long time running It's been a long time coming It's been a long, long, long time running It's well worth the wait It's well worth the wait It's well worth the wait It's well worth the wait Songwriters: GORDON DOWNIE, GORDON SINCLAIR, JOHNNY FAY, PAUL LANGLOIS, ROBERT BAKER
