Terrific comparison video! Very well done simply articulating the main points, mixing in a few personal preference callouts. This makes sense why I preferred the feel of my 2019 Powerfly FS7 over the 2021 Turbo Levo. The Levo was clearly the superior bike on paper but I felt it was boring to ride on my local trails, which makes total sense now that I watched this. I still have my FS7 and returned the Levo.

Another cracking video Sam! Really appreciate the time and effort you put into this channel. You deserve many more subscribers. Would be nice to see some Cube bikes on your channel. The Hybrid 140 and 160 ActionTeam bikes would be a good comparison, and would relate to this video too. They're a little bizarre really, as aside from the obvious suspension travel and chainstay size differences, they're strikingly similar. They're also pretty much the same price too, just to add more confusion for the consumer. I've ended up ordering the 140 purely because it was the only one I could get hold of. If you're ever in the UK and want to take it for a spin you're more than welcome. Take it easy mate 👍

Fascinating comparison. Important to know that Enduros arent just for advanced downhill riders, but maybe for less experienced to build confidence. QUESTION: Was the trance you were on the trance advanced or just the trance. I assume it was the advanced because of the live valve. Thx again for all you do.
@SamsBikes2 жыл бұрын
Hey Mitch thanks for the kind worlds, I think that’s what I said in my conclusion that enduros are for less confident riders. And yes it was the trance advanced with the fox live value but actually all the trances have the same geometry but different build and frame material and battery size
@AB-NZ2 жыл бұрын
I want your job! Always enjoy your reviews. Keep up the good work mate. Interesting conclusion where you favoured the trance. I agree. I reckon a lot of people think bigger travel is always better and head to the big hitters without thinking about what would be the best overall bike for 90% of their riding. A bit like people buying massive 4x4 utility trucks when actually they don’t need it. More for show than anything else. My wife just bought the trance X e+1 …. The aluminium one with the bigger 750 battery. A VG spec and option for the price (NZ$9400). Still in the garage waiting for the rain to clear. Was tricky because she was on the cusp between the size small and medium. Went for medium in the end as the seated riding position (seat to bar) was close to her existing trail bike…and can always put the seat forward a bit and shorten the stem slightly. Ciao from NZ.
@SamsBikes2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Andrew, it’s interesting the more I test I used to thing more was better but now I’m loving Trail Bikes just more fun, I think they feel faster when there are clearly not hard to explain! I hope your Wife enjoys the trance a tip would be get some 30mm riser bars and run the stem with all the spacers this will make her feel more comfortable and confident.
@AB-NZ2 жыл бұрын
@@SamsBikes thanks for this advice Sam. Yeah …. was considering swapping across the 30mm riser bars from my Levo expert (raw carbon option….still on order…3 more weeks!) onto the e-trance exactly for that purpose. The medium e-trance already has a shortish 40mm stem so shortening that to a 35mm stem is an option I guess too, but only a 5mm difference. I have a carbon OneUp 35mm riser bar which I intend to put onto the Levo. Love that set of bars…. You tried them? By the way, my decision to buy the Levo (instead of the new Trek Rail 9.8 which I had on order but cancelled) was based partly on your reviews. The power of KZbin 🤔. Cheery. Andrew

Nice one Sam! During the bike festival in Willingen I tested over 10 different eMTBs, climbing and bikepark downhill with big jumps and quick bends. Overall my favorites were the Trance and Reign, but I really preferred the playfulness of Reign. But unfortunately the wise people of Giant decided that they don't sell the Reign in the Netherlands and to make it worse they have a very tight warranty policy (only warranty in the country of purchase, at the bike shop where's it's bought). Good content but a lot of trail bikes have a little slacker head angle then the trance and less fork travel then the reign. My Trek rail for instance has 160 mm front but 64.5° head angle. That's pretty much what the specialized levos for 2022 have as well. Most people categorize the Enduro bikes as having 170 mm front and 160 back I believe. The name classification is extremely confusing. The name Enduro has traditionally been used for a motorcycle that is equally useful on the road as off-road. Why they chose to use the category of Enduro for a bicycle expect to be more useful off-road is beyond me. Very confusing and ridiculous in my opinion. But I think I finally understand after months of trying to figure out the categories. Downhill bike I'm assuming is for extreme downhill trails which is probably obvious. Enduro is more extreme trail riding and technical riding off-road A trail bike is one step less aggressive which I assume is for most people and their mountain bike needs. The next step up from there I'm confused on again. Would that be a gravel bike ? Gravel bikes look more like road bikes to me so I'm not really sure. Then commuters and road bikes are a little bit more obvious. Someone please correct me because believe it or not there is no website that I have found that really describes the classifications. Most manufacturer websites are a bit vague with their classifications or at least how they explain the different classifications if they bother to explain them at all. Most of them just assume that you know the different classifications. I called a trek dealer one time to try and get clarifications and they were completely useless as well. They merely said it depends on what use I want to use them for. Well news flash! I want to know what the bikes are best suited for and then I will decide which one will suit me best. This video is the best I have found to explain the difference between two classes of bikes and it is greatly appreciated. However I wish there was more videos like this to go into great detail of the common classifications nowadays. Any reasonable person would rather know the classifications and capabilities of bicycles first and then ask a professional more details to decide what would be best shoot them.
