The best TBI?! 2024 Gas Gas EC300 First Look

The new 2024 Gas Gas has some differences that I think set it apart from the KTM XC and XCW TBI, here's my initial thoughts on the bike

On the TBI bikes, it's fairly easy to delete the OI and run premix. I'd pick the KTM over the GG for the new forks and brembo brakes.

Tbi doesn't have oil injection

@@andrewpereira1117 Yes, they do. Depends on the model. 2024 KTM XCW and Gas Gas EX are oil injected. The XC and EC models are pre-mix.

The EX model comes with CC forks, so it's a pretty cheap way into a 300xc for people who don't mind the brakes.

@@PNWEnduroyou have it backwards . It’s the EX that has closed cartridge forks and premix . As well as the ktm xc . The xcw and Ec are the ones that use open cartridge and oil injection.

Can confirm the new 2024 XCW forks are extremely good - I think they are every bit as good as KYB forks on Sherco etc.

Kyb forks on the sherco feel terrible with the stock valaving. The new xact forks felt really good stock to me but I don’t have a lot of time on them

I have a ‘24 xc. The frame is fine. I don’t know what ppl are talking about. Bike feels awesome. Ppl need to sack up

the seat bolt is under the side panel near the rear of the seat, as opposed to the husky and ktm having it up front.

That powerparts version w/ the black wheels is the best looking bike KTM makes. It's just too bad that with black wheels and CC forks it'll cost as much or more than a stock KTM.

they are really blowing it with the silver wheels. I can deal with the bracketec brakes and lower quality forks since the 6500 kit is still better than the new forks but ya gotta upgrade the wheels or spray paint em BBQ black like my van wheels

Take that bike and purchase black wheels, install tubliss (put mousse on silver wheels for smash rides) convert to Brembo brake in the front, 6500 upgraded forks with a Factory fatty w/stock muffler = total sweetness!!! and tempting... Love your products Trailbound!!!

I never considered buying a Gasgas until I found out they are made by KTM factory. I’m reading a lot of good reports on the EC 300. The only downfall is that the 2024 models do not come with a map switch and the mufflers are not USFS approved. Hopefully on the 2025 models at least the muffler will be USFS approved.

I’ve never seen a 2 stroke come with a spark arrestor. We always put the 2.1 turbine core on the bikes right away

In my opinion, it is really good that they leave old xplor, just think how many people bought some tuning as 6500, reaven, dalsoggio and so on. I am one of those who already have a good close cartridge, and I checked that new xact cartridge and talked to tuning masters about them, they said the quality is really bad, so if you already have some tuning you still gonna want to use old pro components. So for me, it is really good, I have the set of spheres, so my next bike surely will be Gas, I had it before, it was best for me, now I have husky but missing my ec300 ) So I'm happy to be able to put my cc to new bike)

Oh, also one thing I saw was there is now a WP cartridge kit for the new closed cartridge Xact forks. Basically converts them to cone valve forks for $1500-$1750 bucks. It’s called XPLOR PRO 7500 Cartridge kit

I’m bummed the 2024 EC models aren’t coming with the new forks. My GasGas dealer said it was to keep costs down, but I think it was probably because they wanted to use up existing Xplor fork stock. In the end, by the time I would do something with the forks, it wouldn’t keep the cost down all added up.

It is really cheap to tune xplor, just spend 150-200$ for stock parts, make two legs works fully (comp/rebound), settings (shims stack) you can find in ktmforum, and enjoy your bike)

I would get the EX. Why would you want oil injection, Xplor forks and a detuned motor? To me the only advantage to the EC/XC-W/TE is the higher output stator and softer suspension valving.

I had been going back and forth and really that could be a whole other video to be honest.. I think I would have to test the XC/EX with the TSP flash vs XCW to see if that makes the bike preform better. Right now the XC is just to much like a motocross bike for hard enduro, it would probably be a super fun single track bike but thats not my primary riding. Higher stator output, heavier flywheel and different gearing are also advantages besides the motor being better tuned for hard enduro

The 24 Gas Gas has an open cartridge WP XPLOR fork not the XACT like on husquvarn and KTM.

Yeah that is the downside but the 6500 kit is better than the new xact fork so it would be a good upgrade

The fuel tank is very functional but some might consider that unattractive especially since it covers the engine. Dirt bikes are great to look at it as well as ride

I bet if I rode this bike I would think the suspension is ultra fantastic. It's funny hearing someone complain about a newer bike's suspension. Either you are a pro rider or really picky.

The EX gets the CC forks. It'll be the KTM frame (but ktm gets a diff new one next year), but having cast triples on the gasser means it might flex a little more plus linkage will take some of the hit out. I was also wondering how to access the seat bolt. I'm guessing you have to take the plastic cover off.

Got a 2024 ktm 300w worst motorcycle I have even ridden. Has 11hrs on it. It is an ok trail bike or as they say down under It’s a farm bike. It’s a ttr 125 with torque. Far from a race bike good thing I didn’t sell my 450.

Biggest problem with the GasGas is resell. The difference in price on a used GasGas vs KTM is much more than the price difference when they are new.

I’ve ridden numerous 2024 TBI’s and the bottom ends felt very weak and blubbery. All XC models. Not sure what all the hype was on TBI being so good. Hoping the XCW models run better off idle. Mid range and top end are phenomenal though.

I ride a 2021 ec300 tpi Hated the bike... No grunt on bottom Over heat issue Too soft suspension Mx tech suspension Get ECU High compression head More flywheel weight Converted to TBI Now the bike is a handful ! The gas gas is a good platform if you don't mind tuning.

170 hrs on my 2022 ec300. with these forks confirmed ill go ahead and upgrade my fork internals and swap the forks over when i can pick up a 2024

I would prefer the Xplor fork. I have an EX450F, FE501S, 500XCFW, 450XCFW, TE250i. That's everything KTM has offered: linkages with different tunes, PDS, open-chamber fork, closed-cartridge air. I find that Xplor and PDS are the best for me. Now you can't get that combo. Either the stiff CC with PDS or the soft Xplor but with the link. The new EC is probably close to my TE250i. I hope I'm wrong about the CC fork. But I doubt there is any magic - CC has more friction, it can't be as soft as an OC.

My 6500 CC kit is way smoother and softer than the xplor ever was. But yeah stock xplor are valved pretty soft the new xact fork felt great to me and could easily valave it a little softer
