Thanks Nickster. I've had the TF2 for 5 years this last Christmas. It been a slow project. Besides my King Midas 6x6 , it's my favorite rig to take out on the trail. It drives "realistically" but at the same time..with the modification..will easily perform with the Axials. If you look at my videos , you'll see its slow transformation over time. First , it was powerful(Novak Goat 18.5 system that was BEC'd to run on 3s)....then the upgraded parts for strength as the stock parts broke...then I worked on flex and lowering the center-of-gravity along with front-bias weight. I honestly don't have anywhere to go from here... as far as performance and strength. Tom

Nice rig bud. That motor is crazy. I'm a big fan of having the batteries out on the sides my self. Like the knuckle weights too. :)

Thank you. Alot if "plastic" rig drivers thinks a hardbody can't perform but with a few , well thought out modification they do really good.

Thank you. Not long after this video I put one-ton dually's under it. Man...you wouldn't believe the traction an extra set of tires in the back gives you. As a dually it'd go places a well set-up Axial had problems going. It's definitely one of my favorite rigs to drive and most reliable. After the installation of the helical cut gears and cvd's...in 8 years...its never left me stranded on the trail...tho , I've gone through 4 sets of leaf-springs and one spur-gear. I'll release a video of the new set-up later...i have a few more things to do. I just recently put my original Toyota body on it....it's called "Unwanted Yota".

Nice setup! I love my TF2. It's got to be my absolute favorite. I'd do the motor drop but it'd hit my links because I run the front 3 link kit instead of leaf springs. I'll have to try doing the o ring modification to my rear end though.
@tomlucasrccrawlers91087 жыл бұрын
Ethan Boening If I was to ever link my TF2 , I'd link the back. Keep the front leafed and O-ringed so I can keep the motor-drop conversion. But I honestly don't think I'd link the rear either because I don't believe I'd get anymore flex.

I Buddy...just ran into this again. Totally didn’t realize we talked so far back. Hahaha My rig has made so many changes since this video. I need to do an update. And you've come along way with you rc fab company. Very cool.

Can I do the motor drop with a 3-link? Motor seems to hit the panhard?.Bummed..
@tomlucasrccrawlers91085 жыл бұрын
I haven't tried a motor-drop. I've always wanted to give a shot. I conversed with a guy on facebook that was trying a motor-drop with a linked Trailfinder. He mentioned that he was going to put a curve in the pan-hard rod. I'm sure it can be done.

@@tomlucasrccrawlers9108 Oh! That's a great idea. I've searched everywhere and found zero info on the topic until now. Much appreciate it👍

@@gmummy I've been thinking about how to do it for years because I've always wanted a Beast 2....it's essentially a linked Trailfinder with an extra axle. I was going to motor-drop it, put a hardbody Clodbuster cab and flatbed it. Let me know how it comes out.
@gmummy5 жыл бұрын
@@tomlucasrccrawlers9108 I have it all apart again for the 3rd time now after the motor drop. I'm thinking , as mentioned above, need to make a custom lanyard. But at a glance it's still going to hit the axle.. mtf..

Awesome rig! What length shocks are you running up front?
@tomlucasrccrawlers91087 жыл бұрын
MrBonger88 90mm. Pro-line or Axial aluminums will work or any other small diameter shock.

+Madeline Lucas Thanks for the quick reply. I think you mentioned that there are various o-rings , silicone etc. Do you have a preference?
@tomlucasrccrawlers91087 жыл бұрын
MrBonger88 I can't tell the difference between the Home Depot 1/8 O-rings and the Red silicone O-rings for flex. I've used both. No difference.

Kentucky Rc Krawlers The Grub-screw modification for the side mounts is just replacing the bolts in the side with the grub-screw's. The tilt-body is made using steering or link ball-joints...two ball-joints about 4 inches apart facing down and mounted to the bed and two facing up and mounted to the back chassis crossmember using existing holes.....then put bolts through the two medal balls on both sides.

What’s the body painted with
@tomlucasrccrawlers91086 жыл бұрын
Shadow 4130 That's just Home Depot flat/satin rattle-can paint that's compatible with medal, wood and plastic. Nothing special. Remember...sand , wash and many light coats.
