I grew up in construction and have been around a ton of HVAC installations. I can honestly say that the Trane units were always the best and most praised in the industry, for my region. It eventually lead me to work for Trane technologies, where I stayed over a decade until they closed the Lexington KY plant. In working for the company, I got a chance to really see everything that goes into a Trane unit and took great pride in the products we produced. I literally trained hundreds of employees to handle every aspect of these units over the years. I purchased my recent home almost 4 years ago and it came with a different brand HVAC unit. I honestly can’t wait to replace my unit with a Trane. I wish I still had my employee discount though 🤦🏽😩.

Purchased: August 2023 - still works GREAT!I kzbin.infoUgkxxsUnXhGsSJLim_XnMHyQK0u3XVaW-CGn live in a studio and during the summer it gets scorching hot - really old building with no ac units. I can’t express how EASY it was to install. This unit has been a life savior during the summer and some days during other seasons where it can still be a bit warm at night. In this small place is my friend, a husky, poodle mix and myself. We need AC - lolI don’t use the dehumidifier option - I’m not sure if it will leak in my house, since I did not install the small draining hose that came with it. May look into it late but I don’t worry about much humidity in the apartment. I don’t understand why the negative reviews since all things mentioned, I personally did not find issues with. Definitely worth it!

Great video! Nice & simple! 👍 An additional benefits of variable speed or multistage is the ability to dehumidify for longer periods in humid climates & the energy savings.

A couple errors I’m going to point out, not to be a troll but to make sure people are getting the right information. 1 - The XR16 and S9X1 are not the “most affordable” options in Trane’s line up. The S9B1 and XR13 are the most affordable. 2 - The unit with the black top is an XL18i, which is a 2 stage unit, not variable speed. That furnace wouldn’t be paired with a truly variable speed unit either since it is not communicating. The Trane units that are variable speed are the XV18i and XV20i condensers and heat pumps and the XC95m furnace. I have been a Trane dealer for 7 years and have spent a lot of time getting familiar with the line. Otherwise, good job explaining the differences.
@MetroHCI2 жыл бұрын
Hey Charles, Thanks for dropping the comment! Trust me, this is not trolling. 1- In my market (Des Moines, IA), our distributer gives us the best pricing on XR16 AC units and S9X1 Furnaces. Our utilities also give rebates for anything above 95% and above 16 SEER. That probably changes from distributer to distributer and on your location in the country. 2 - Good catch on the XL18i decal. I more or less told them to pull down a piece of equipment to show people what the "Weatherguard top" looks like and called it a variable speed unit for the video. My bad. I'm in my 3rd year selling Trane and I love the product so far. Hope all is well in your area!

Bought a brand new Trane in 9/22. Trane unit was manufactured in 9/22. Panama Florida plant orgin. Model 4WCC4030A1000AB Lasted 30 days then quit. Called Trane authorized dealer that sold/installed unit. Took him 11 months to come back out. No heat during winter/ no AC during summer, 11 months no service,no show. Finally comes out and tells me unit has defective coil, will have to be replaced. Repair man tore brand new AC unit apart in yard. Brand new in pieces, 30 days of service,now scattered across yard. He was not happy , and neither was I. Fast foward 90 days ,and I hear some one drilling on my AC unit outside. I go to window ,but can see no one. I walk outside to find 2 new holes drilled into side of hvac unit... Exactly 9 11/16 from edge....Exactly where new coil had just been replaced!!!!!!! Over $5,000 for a Trane unit that operated less than 100 days total. Then was sabotaged by someone who knew exactly where the coil is sitting behind panel cover. Called 1800Trane and asked if installer had been reimbursed for labor,on the warranty claim on the defective unit. Or did he not get paid for work,and now wants revenge. Trane would not answer. Called cops,they said oh well,no witnesses, no case.

Eight enormous rooms in the home. We replaced the old with a Pioneer mini-split for the master bedroom, which has poor airflow. And purchased a Trane XR17 & a S9-V2 furnace for a packaged deal. Very quiet. Excellent energy savings and low electric bill operating the A/C, around the clock. Airflow for the downstairs, is like an exhaust of a jet engine. My only dilemma is the installers, seem to refuse to wire the thermostat correctly, so we can easily switch from heat to A/C. Once the A/C, is activated, we need to call-the-installers, in the Autumn, to switch-over to the furnace. Very annoying.

I'm currently getting better pricing from Trane than Carrier right now, but that changes from year to year. Both are great brands. Comfort: would be your 2-Stage equipment. Quite & Efficient: would be your variable speed equipment. Hope this helps!

Depends on your budget and the AC/Heat Pump you are pairing the furnace up with. I always recommend the S9V2. The S9X1 is a single stage gas valve with a constant speed blower motor. The S9V2 is a two stage gas valve with a variable speed blower motor.

I own 10 properties and have trane HVACs at each of them for past 12 years and never had a problem with any. 10/10 Maybe I'm lucky or maybe you got lemon. But more than likely yours was not installed correctly. You can buy the best of the best HVAC, but if installation is trash or not done correctly, the system will give you problems. Having the best HVAC is not magically gonna last 20 years without proper servicing. Do you change your oil, breaks, tires and have your car serviced by good mechanic? Well use the same concept when it comes to HVACs as with anything, preventive maintenance is key to increasing and prolonging the life of your stuff

I lease my small home, and I had my HVAC unit completely replaced two years ago with an expensive Trane unit after the 20 year old HVAC system died. They replaced all of the equipment both inside and outside. It was not cheap at all. The contractor put in a Trane system, and although the old thermostat had just been replaced a year or less earlier, they put in one of those T6 Pro Honeywell thermostats. I hate it. I hate the Trane HVAC even more than the thermostat. To say I hate this Trane does not remotely convey how much I truly LOATHE this Trane system. I feel we were deliberately deceived about the Trane unit. They never mentioned a word to us about the fan. In this Trane unit, unless either the air or the heat is running, you cannot feel ANY significant air movement from just the fan being on. You have to hold your hand up to the vents in the ceilings to feel any air at all---no exaggeration. With the fan on ON, the air is so slight that you can either stand or sit under it and not feel any air movement. I realised this the same day they installed it as soon as they left. I tried to run the unit as I have always run my units---fan set to ON, and AC set to about 75, which was always comfortable even in the hottest weather. At first, I thought the unit was flawed, but they told me no, that is the way this unit operates. The fan does not blow much unless either the air or the heat is on. It will save you money. Save me money?!?!? Firstly, it has NOT saved me money. In fact, it costs more to run this unit than it cost to run the 20 year old unit it replaced, and as aggravating as that would be, what is ONE MILLION TIMES WORSE is that it HAS NO FAN, and I constantly feel stifled by lack of air movement in here. Save me money?!!! What a JOKE!!!!! Since I have had this Trane system, I now have to run my air at 72 degrees just to keep air moving more frequently. I actually feel cold, but I have to wear a sweater and thick socks to tolerate the cold if I want air movement. Lying in bed at night, I cannot feel any fan unless either the air or the heat is running. It has been miserable. I was so angry the first few months that I wanted to contact Trane and tell them what total piece of junk is this system, but I found no way to contact Trane. I feel this was very DISHONEST on the part of the contractor not to disclose this fact about the fan. In fact, after I complained to one of their techs that I do NOT like this system AT ALL, he said not many people like it either, so it is not just me. So, they KNEW customers were not happy with this model unit, yet they kept selling the units without telling customers first about the fan. Then, to add insult to injury, the contractor told me if I wanted air movement, I should buy and set up some table top fans. Firstly, where was I set to set up table top fans? There is not a free spot of countertop or table top space in this entire tiny apartment. Secondly, I have suffered my entire life with severe allergies. I did allergy testing twice. First time I took sublingual drops. Second time I took shots in the hip 3X a week at the doctor's office. Neither helped me at all, and one of the single worst things I could possibly do to make breathing worse was to use fans. Dust can make me so ill that I literally am unable to breathe. I inherited respiratory problems from my mum who had severe asthma all her life and ended up in ER many times each year because she could not breathe. I told the contractor this, and all he said was "well, you are not even giving it a chance. Find a way to clear some countertop space and set up some fans for air movement, or find a way to mount some fans on the walls in each room. Give it a chance." Can you believe that?!!! I was stunned and appalled by the insensitivity and dishonesty. Installing a $$$$ HVAC unit and then telling someone to set up tabletop fans for air movement is like selling someone a Ferrari and then telling the customer to buy a couple of strong horses to hitch to the vehicle to pull it along. My landlord was no help. I spoke to him about it the day it was installed and found out it had NO FAN, and he said there was nothing that could be done because it was already installed. I disagreed, but I could not force him to take action and complain to the BBB and the Attorney General's Office for Consumer Protection to get the unit replaced. After all, he was not the one who had to live with this crappy HVAC system. I still am amazed that anyone would pay $$$$ money for a brand new HVAC system that has no fan!! This thermostat is not very impressive to me. Why would it be? This place is so tiny that it can cool down or heat up literally within 15 minutes of turning on the air or the heat. Why would anyone, especially a senior who is home all day and night most of the time, need a thermostat that raises and lowers the temp during the day??? As I said, the apartment is so small that you can bring the temperature down or raise it within a very few minutes. Worse, though, MUCH, MUCH WORSE is the $$$$ Trane system the contractor installed. Do contractors keep a number of systems on hand for immediate installation? They installed this one for us the same day the old one was pronounced dead. My guess is they bought several of these crappy systems for a good price and were unloading them on customers without telling customers "this system does NOT run like every other system you have used. This system is designed to save money by making it impossible for you to run the fan with any force unless the air or the heat is running, so the fan alone will be USELESS to you. If you are happy with that, then this system will work well enough for you, but if you are unhappy at the prospect of no fan, then you will not want this system." The real kicker is that this Trane system actually costs me MORE to operate than the ancient system it replaced because I have to keep the house uncomfortably cooler or hotter as the case may be just to keep filtered air blowing as much as possible. Otherwise, there. is no air movement in here, and it feels stifling. Soon as the air or the heat cuts off, you cannot feel the fan at all unless you put your hand up to the vent. I used to be able to stand at the stove top cooking with the air blowing strong enough to keep me cool, but not with this Trane unit, I stand there to cook and melt over the hot stove. I go to bed at night and cannot feel any air movement in the room if the air or the heat cuts off. Needless to say, I am angry and feel that the contractor was very dishonest. Oh, and the contractor said that the EPA mandated these types of systems. I could not believe that, so I began contacting people at the EPA, and they confirmed for me that they do NOT mandate any HVAC system. They said they do control what types of freon are legal to use, but whether or not you can run a strong fan without also running the air or the heat is NOT something they regulate. In fact, the man I spoke to at the EPA was a regional manager and told me he had never even heard of an HVAC system where you could not run just the fan and have plenty of air movement from it alone. Heck, everyone's vehicle's HVAC system allows that much, but a home's HVAC system will not allow you to run just the fan with significant air blowing?! It was clear: the contractor lied through his teeth and stuck us with a system for the next 20 years that we would NOT have chosen had we known about the fan.

All I hear is a bunch of complaining about how the fan doesn't work but it does work extremely well when air is on as they have to wear a sweatshirt as it gets really cold quick in small apartment. Sounds to me if you just wanted air flow you should have installed ceiling fans or a ductless mini split. Instead you got a system way beyond what you need. Always do your research before buying something. No one said you have to keep it for 20 years, if you don't like it try to sell it for a little loss and just buy a floor fan or ceiling fan for each room

Avoid Trane at all costs....I had a $10,000 Trane XR17 system put in by them. Purchased and Installed by an Authorized Trane Dealer, Larson Air Conditioning, Scottsdale, AZ. Nothing but problems from day 1. Had to replace the Heat Pump after 3 weeks. Brand new and leaking from the factory. Then it took over a year to fix a problem that would cause it to quit cooling (over 12 times in the first year). My 15 year old no name AC system I took out was way more dependable than this Trane system. Then the Air Handler coil broke in year 2. I called Larson Air Conditioning and they sent a service rep out.. said all my Freon was gone.. they said it leaked out somewhere.. he could not find the leak he said... said it must be under my concrete floor since he couldn’t find it... he offered me a $300+ test to do a UV test.. I knew the chances of that were almost nothing so I called BS. .. so I told him to fill up the system with freon which cost me $900. 2 days later no cooling again.. Fed up with Larson I called another Trane dealer for a second opinion.. in 10 minutes he found that the Air Handler coil was leaking...thats where all me freon was going.. outside in the condensate line.... but Larson guy couldn't find it? while the coil in under warranty (but backordered for over 3 months and counting.. still not in) it would cost me $2500 for the freon and labor to have the coil put in. . So during the first year with all the problems ... so by year 2 it would cost me $3500 to fix this Trane AC system that’s “Under 10 Year Warranty” And don't expect any support from Trane Customer Relations either.. after 2 months of repeated requests from Trane Customer Relations for a refund or any financial assistance.. they say they cant help ANY. So Im left with no option but to leave this unfortunate and honest review. I have since removed the 2 year old Trane system (coil has been backordered for over 3 months and still not in). No coil.. No heat in winter… I was forced to take out the Trane POS and install new Carrier system which has run flawless.. The current Trane isn’t the old Trane that had a good reputation ever since bought out by American Standard. “Its NOT hard to stop a Trane”
