I like your videos, they feature real problems, real homes lived in by real people.

As Steve L would say, “Good enough for this neighborhood “. Great job. Not many that would have taken that job on.

Looks good. I would make line hide out of sheet metal to fit that job.

I have become accustomed to the incredibly neat work that you do - can't say I am impressed with this install. Neatly done using capping and following the exterior wall would have been less savage than the way the new line sets where run, especially through that small closet. Why not shift the condensers forward to in front of the deck ??
@sknight03914 жыл бұрын
I would have just tore the deck down instead 😂👌

It brings a smile to my face with how everything came out! Everything nice and neat like they were originally there. Nice work!! Those Trane XR14s are purring happily.

I would have went for pvc conduit/dwv pipe from outside all the way in to mechanical room, then put the line sets through that.(assuming it's straight run, end to end) then if it ever ice up or sweats, it could only go out the ends, with outside sealed, only into mechanical room!

Woah!! no-tear line set insulation? Very noice. Great install Ted. Your guys did a good job. Only one thing..... that condenser with the concrete block under one side, there'a no middle support (or maybe i can't see it) eventually that equipment pad will sag right in the middle under the weight of that condenser. Please don't take my comment as complaining, like a i said GREAT INSTALL A+.

Crap that's a lot of bother. Good job. Not as bad an original location as that mountaintop home where the units were completely boxed in with the add on fan.

up here in the north we run the lineset on the side of the house going up to the attic,it looks to me like that could've been done at that house for the upstairs unit but that's the south and things are done a lot different downthere
@TheWoodman0644 жыл бұрын
Job looks very good but I was in question somewhere about the lineset and how it was going to be covered but I'm sure you have that under control!

Question. I do electrical stuff, but that has included the wiring side of hvac installs a few times. Several locations have had multiple heat pumps with their outdoor units grouped together, and I've covered the disconnect requirement with a weatherproof load center with multiple breakers in one enclosure. However, I note that when the HVAC guys do their own wiring, they always install individual disconnect boxes for each unit. Is that a preference, or is it simply because that's what you generally have available?

You got something against pipe benders and swedge tools?!?

I was curious if he was going to do 90s and add joints like that in that spot inside..would most experienced techs always make full 90s there and add potential leak spots? I feel like you could just gently/slightly bend the pipe down with hands and remove the need for another braze spot right?

You will be unable to secure the new line set that goes through the bulkhead (chase) and they will chatter upon unit start-up. Sounds like marching-gun fire when it occurs sporadically.

Do you know any friendly competent directional drillers? A good driller can easily hit an 18" square hole in a concrete basement floor in under an hour, nothing on the side of the house and the hole/conduit/pipe comes out exactly where you want it in the basement. I'm always amazed how accurate they are, especially with a price around 4 man hours in my area.

Do you prefer a heat pump over a gas furnace for a warm climate with mild winters? I've always hated my furnace. It's either too cold or way too hot and dry.

There's a theme park place here in the UK that has 4 or 5 condensors all boxed in with the only vent being slotted doors on the front....

Umm, what about a side discharge unit under the deck? Trane says 5 ft clearance. That’s just really going to hurt resale.

It's obvious there was some thought and planning on what to do before you started. I learned from working over 50 years in the electrical and construction trades to plan your work and then work your plan. Works every time. Proper planning eliminates piss poor work.

Contractors and installers have been reporting leaks in the white line sets through the copper after about two years in some locations including my jobs. I have been having to go back and replace all the white line sets on all my jobs that I did with the white line sets I’m eating it out of my pocket. I have done four jobs replacements and I have two more of my own jobs I still have to replace all the lines that’s on. Just went out to somebody else’s job site who just installed two units 18 months ago and they came back four times to recharge both units they did not find the leaks that I found in the white line sets. Not to mention the kinks that I found in their bends. Customer got pissed off at the last three contractors who kept trying to fix the two installed units each one came out multiple times before giving up. Now the customer is paying me more just to replace those white line sets then it cost him in the complete installation of the entire two systems.
