Exactly. May the Lord capture his heart. I grew up a radical atheist in Berkeley, California. Through some amazing true miracles, the Lord saved me and changed me. The scales were removed from my eyes. It was sort of a Saul to Paul for me. I was so happy to read you had a Holy Spirit transformation as well! "The punchline" is imbecilic as it commits an obvious and well known logical fallacy. There is no contradiction (as implied) between believing that women are not funny and believing that some men (even those in little Bo Peep dresses, as the case may be) are also not funny. If one accepts the proposition "all women are not funny" but later states that a particular woman is funny then he of course must update his position on the matter, or else he is indeed contradicting himself and is logically in error. In other words, if the syllogism "if a and b, then c" is true and proposition a (women aren't funny, for example) is true, and proposition b (person x is a woman) is likewise met, then we must conclude c (person x is not funny). What his 'joke' is doing is making a common error of reversing the logic of the syllogism and counting the meeting the criterion of conclusion c as sufficient to conclude that proposition b has been met. Its like saying that "if it is an apple, then it is a fruit" means that all fruits are apples when in actual fact it means only that all apples are fruits. This logical error is known as "affirming the consequent". To his credit I will say that commiting the fallacy of affirming the consequent and believing doing so to be an expression of humorous wit is indeed funny, though not for the reasons intended. All this to say, if you accept the proposition (fact in this case) that no men are women, the (debatable) proposition that no women are funny and also believe that this man is not funny, then you have not been checkmated quite yet and you can rest easy and feel free to put off you're conversion to methodism for the time being.
