Breast cancer isn't just a women's thing either. My uncle had a lump surgically removed from his chest because it may well have been cancerous. That was only spotted because he had a heart attack and they were checking his everything anyway.

Just my little PSA thing: Guys, dudes, bros, you all can get breast cancer too. Especially, if it runs in your family. It's less likely for us than it is for the girlies, but it can still happen. That sort of stuff runs in my family, so I've always been very conscious of it, but I know not everyone knows this stuff. So, even if you're not a girl, check yourself. Like, seriously. And I know healthcare sucks in the states, but if you suspect some issues, please go to the doctor. Cancer is no joke and it's always best if/when they can catch this stuff early. So, take care of your body, as best you can. And please see a medical professional as often as you can, for check ups and like. Much love to you all. And thanks, Icky, for the video ♥️

I saw a bit of your live steam, mainly the part where you said you where not a "f1nn" content person. I just wanted to say that even though I learned about you through them, I don't check youtube constantly for their next upload, just yours. Both of you have your own niche that you fill, for the community and myself, and while F1nn may have helped me accept being fem while I was born masc, you helped me feel fem when I was struggling being a woman in the wrong skin. I don't really follow you anywhere else, You are so encouraging in a way I cannot describe, and your openness about ALL the content you create makes me feel like I can more honestly trust you and get where you are coming from. You don't feel like a charector, you feel like a woman who is relatable and admirable. Also, your comment forever ago about relics from a past gender, like the spider-man collection, had such a MASSIVE positive mental effect on me early on, and helped me be happy about things a lot faster.

It’s so nice to hear another trans woman talk about her experience with breast cancer scares!!! I found a lump earlier this year and thankfully it was just “squiggly breast tissue” according to the doc, thankfully everyone at the ultrasound place was super kind and the doc thought I was cis 🤭 which was affirming bc I’m self conscious about my small titties!!! um, anyway, thank you for sharing your experience ms. icky!!!

Lots of cis women have very small breasts. My mum has always felt very self-conscious about her (almost) flat chest, but really it's all within natural variation and it doesn't make her or you or anyone any less womanly. It didn't affect her breastfeeding either, which is the original purpose of breasts. Size really doesn't matter. Even trans women can breastfeed with induced lactation.

I had to go see a doctor about 6 months into hrt earlier this year due to a UTI (though I wasn't positive that was it at the time and thought something else might be going wrong with the hrt because anxiety) and was so afraid to tell them I was trans and taking estrogen. Especially since I live in a very red conservative state in middle USA. But the nurse was super sweet and understanding and the doctor assured me that it wasn't the hrt and helped me with no weirdness or complaints. I'm still super nervous for any future doctor things though lol.

Quick thing, whilst trans women don't have menstruation specifically with bleeding and uterine stuff we still get all the hormonal fluctuations, mood swings, intestinal cramps, boobs growing and shrinking depending on our hormones. :) Some trans women just like cis women get really nothing periods where nothing really happens others get it worse, I know that once I month I crave greasy fried foods as well as get really angry really quickly or cry at everything.

Knowledge of breast growth and higher risk of breast cancer is literally part of the informed consent bit that people in the US are given. They don't drill it into you head, but they do make sure you know what's possible. Which I appreciated.

The informed consent form I was offered had lies on it. I don't just mean false statements; I mean someone deliberately tried to decieve me. Anyway, do your own research before you trust what they tell you. The breast cancer thing is probably legit IMO, but I wouldn't take a doctor's word for it.

4:23 this still blows my mind. people actually get taught what they need to look out for? like, for most of the things that i've struggled with, there was no tutorial ever, and usually not even a mention of their existence. where do people learn these things? at what point in their life? i don't remember any "basic life stuff" class in school and i very rarely find anything helpful online. and this isn't the kind of thing you can just learn by observing people around you, like language etc.

Exactly what I got confused over🥲 I don't remember school teaching anoything like this ever, and also like when people talk about when at school they took boys and gurls into different rooms to learn about things specific to their gender, I don't remember taht ever happening at my school either... I am also afab, and when I saw this video and read comments, I realised I didn't even know ur supposed to check your beasts for lumps, which idk if that's concerning that I was never taught that as a biologically born female(identify as a trans-man now though). But I guess sometimes internet has helpful things when nobody in real life had tought to teach you anything, but even the online world is hard to find stuff in as sometimes you don't know what to even look for and theres so much mis information and some things are justbharder to find and have less information💔 Sorry for a random rant on your comment, Idk how to keep my messages or comments short💔💔

Dr Mike has mentioned about how staff at hospitals can have a lapse in judgement about certain jokes. If I remember right there was someone who had just passed away and the nurses behind the desk where joking and laughing (Not about the situation) but raises the point that it can be a pretty depressing environment so finding the humor in stuff can be a positive mental thing. Though, as he said, they should always try to keep it private and away from the public which is something that's seemingly a common lapse in judgement due to the nature of the work.

A lot of cis men have nonzero amounts of breast tissue. It first develops because estrogen and HGH levels spike during puberty, and doesn't shrink all the way down to zero once those levels go back down. If you get a lump on your chest that isn't supposed to be there, get it looked at regardless of your gender.

when I was a teen, I found a lump in my chest, went to the doctors, had a specialist check it and it was due to a hormone imbalance leading to more oestrogen being in my system than normal (I'm a cis guy). It all normalised out after a of couple months and the lump went away, but it was good to have checked and also fun to learn that this hormone thing is a little more complicated than prager-u might tell you!

I think guys growing up aren't typically as informed about the male body by their male elders as girls growing are informed about the female body by their female elders. Neither my father nor any of my other male relatives ever talked to me about testicular cancer or prostate cancer. My grandfather actually did have prostate cancer, but he his that fact from the rest of the family. He died from separate complications. It's not too uncommon for doctor's not to be overly concerned when an elder male develops prostate cancer, because in many cases prostate cancer develops so slowly that an old man would like die of natural causes long before his prostate cancer would become life threatening. Obviously, it's still important to be checked by a doctor.

Hey, Ashley. I just saw the part of the video when you were talking about an old "downstairs" appointment, and i just want to say I'm sorry you were treated like that. You dont deserve that. No one does. Its one thing for them to say something directly to you, privately, in an exam room. And, while sometimes Even in those scenarios people say stupid stuff, at least it's more "contained". But to say it in the waiting room? Like wtf? Thats just not cool. This is a bit different, but ive had my own share of crap from doctors due to my disabilities and weight, so i can imagine how your situation felt. And if a doctor ever did what yours did to a partner of mine, i wouldnt let it slide, either. its just not okay. Especially for someone who's supposed to be a medical professional. Again, I'm genuinely really sorry you went through that. And i just hope that it never happens again. I do appreciate the video tho, Icky. I hope youre doing okay. I go to the hospital a lot, both for appointments for myself and with my family. We're not a very well bunch haha! Anyway, they really shouldn't say what you're there for when they call you from the waiting room, they only need to call your name, and especially if it's a more sensitive issue, they really shouldn't say that in front of the whole waiting room, trans or not. The only time I've known the reason for going be announced to the waiting room is the eye hospital.

I don't think I've ever commented before on a woman's appearance in a KZbin video, but you changed your hair color and style a few months ago, and I thought you might appreciate some feedback, because I saw something that impressed me in this video. The color job has a warm feel and excellent highlights. Especially in the Patreon ad, where you have a back light on your right side and a front light to your left, giving you nice, but different, highlights on both sides of your head. (Great lighting, btw.) The style frames your face very nicely, and the length doesn't draw the eye too far down. And it no longer blends into your favorite color of clothing, black.

Thank you for the reminder, Icky! But yeah, my mom has had LOTS of lumps, over the years, and all of them have been benign, but that DOES NOT mean it's not a big deal, or that you shouldn't seek medical assistance. Most lumps should be removed or treated, in some way, even if they are not tumors or anything like that.

Also, yeah, aside from all the cancer stuff, fellow trans girlies, I know (from personal experience) it can be discouraging to be 3 months, 6 months, a year, two years, etc into your transition and not have massive knockers. REMEMBER: you are just doing what puberty does, for cis women, but likely a bit later, MEANING, you will NOT get them overnight. It works differently for different people, even in cis women. Some take a long time for anything to start. Some start early, then sorta level out and stop for a while. Some just get massive real quick. What you gotta keep in mind is that the full process takes a LONG TIME. People on the internet will tell you all sorts of things about when it stops, when you'll get the most growth, etc, but that varies so much. Give it time. It's frustrating, yes, I know, I've been there, I am STILL there, but you can't let it discourage you. Celebrate any progress you make, however big or small. You are beautiful!! 🩷🤍🩵🏳️‍⚧️

Good that you are having the lump checked out. I found a lump in my leg and as a cis male they sent me to a hospital your way that does breast checks to have it look at. Fingers crossed and let us know what you can.

@@Slayyyaphine No. A soft fatty lump in the skin hence the referral to a breast specialist as the tissue was very similar.

Had mine for 21 months or so. Did become an FBI agent, still do checks every night or few days. i got over the fact of showing my chest when i went to get the hair waxed away. having them touched is a new thing i will have to face later on. though i dont go around topless either unless you count topless at end of night after a shower everyday where im too lazy to put on a bra or shirt to cover...

I’m thankful I have a very good doctor and he had me get tested for breast cancer gene mutations since my mother had it. Test came back negative!

you can still have an increased risk of it even without the gene mutation just fyi. I dont have the gene but 3 women in my fam have gotten breast cancer regardless

@@eepytransgirlasmr Yeah, mutations in BRCA1 or BRCA2 are just the main genetic risk factors, not the only ones.

..does cherry mean something different in the UK? I was expecting a discussion on virginity as a trans person and any kinda before/after transition stuff 😅😅 (which would also make for a great video topic, imo)

I don't know about the UK (I'm in the US), but the cherry emoji is often used to refer to the body part discussed in this video, just as the eggplant emoji is used for a different body part. I assume because cherries are round, and there are two cherries in the emoji. (Which works well for a round body part that comes in pairs.)

I sort of was given a pamphlet with what new to look out for. I doubt it was comprehensive, but part of the informed consent was "oy, you're more likely to get breast cancer now dingus" and I think either that sheet or the doc clarified why.
