It's been a long time since the original trailer for this game, and I've been looking forward to it.
Will it be like the trailer? LOL, no! After all, this comes from the fake trailer and barely a game specialists, Playway. That's the first note to temper our expectations. Second, it's on sale now with a full price of just £15. That's below Playway's normal sales price. I have adjusted my expections a little further. Third, there's a big developer caveat in the loading screen stating that they know it has plenty of room for improvement in terms of performance.

For the TF2 series you are planning you should find the absolute LONGEST modded map you can find so there are just massive distances between cities. SO trains can get up to max speed and max speed matters a lot more, and you have good reason for planes.

FYI, the whole deal with not applying too much power while at slow speed is not due to wheel slip (although, it is a factor) The reason for it is to do with how electric motors work. Basically, for a given power setting, the current draw drops off as the rotational speed of the motor increases, it's kinda of counter intuitive in that way, but that is how they behave. (Skip this bit if you don't want more complexity) When the motor spins it not only converts electrical energy to kinetic (rotational) energy, but in doing so, it also induces an electrical current. The current the motor induces is in the opposite direction to the current which drives the motor, and is known as back EMF (actually, technically the voltage associated with this current is the back EMF). The back EMF effectively cancels out a portion of the supply (since they are in opposition). As you spin a motor faster more back EMF is generated, and hence it cancels out more of the supply. This means the effective torque of the motor drops as it spins faster (for a given supply voltage and current) until eventually the back EMF is equal to the supply and no torque is produced. The motor and power infrastructure of the train has a maximum current rating, i.e. the max current it can handle without melting, burning out and bursting into flames (generally lots of bad things). To this end, while the motor is running very slow, and the current at any given setting is high, you can only pull a little throttle without exceeding this maximum. The white light will be to warn of the activation of a protection device intended to prevent you exceeding the safe limit, it probably shuts off power to the motor if you exceed a preset value. As we discussed, as the motors spin faster, current drops, this means you can start to pull higher power settings without exceeding the maximum current, this helps you offset the effective of the current and torque drop as you speed up. Why neutral sections matter. Basically, if you're actively drawing power when you enter them, you can cause an ark to the pantograph. This can cause damage to the overhead lines, the pantograph, and the electrical systems on the locomotive. Dropping the pantograph ensures you are safely isolated from this. Modern trains have systems to deal with this automatically, but I guess not here. Not sure if the arcing is modelled in the game though.

Bells on locos: Whilst americans appear to be utterly gobsmacked that "jaywalking" is allowed in UK - indeed, we don't even have the word, it's just not a thing... but people walking willy nilly around railway stations esp outside cities seems to be all the american rage.
