Really is a beautiful piece. I love the rounded front and beautiful design from nature on drawer fronts. Best I could describe what I'm trying to say😄. I used your techniques on a side table that was mahogany the leg areas were some white type of wood similar to yours. I used the coal black and odies oil on the mahogany parts. And yes, at least just saved those handles on junk piece. 👍👍👍

I`ve had a dresser similar to this one that I started on 3 months ago. I too try to stay away from painting a wood piece unless I have no choice or I feel a hankering to paint. :-) I stained the top, drawers and sides and have been struggling on what color to paint the trim around the dresser and in between the drawers. I can`t tell you how many times I stood in front of the dresser, trying to imagine which paint would look good. I even considered staining it but I knew with all the wood filler I had to use, the stain job would look splotchy and I just couldn`t bring myself to do that. Your video cleared the cobwebs out of my creative mind and a paint decision was made. Your piece turned out absolutely beautiful. I`m hoping I will have the same results. Thank you!!!

In my new workspace (I’m currently redoing my workroom), I’ll have a bit more room to maneuver so should be able to take some “after” video instead of only still shots. BEAUTIFUL! Wow. Just. WOW! Some of your pieces in their ‘before’ state give me such negative visceral reactions- it actually makes me laugh how strongly I dislike some of them due to their weird-plastic finish or, in the case of the ‘fail’, the contact paper. That’s something I very much appreciate about you & others: you can see beyond those things and find the diamonds in the rough! A few things I appreciate about your videos: you thoroughly explain why you're doing what you do, you treat each piece of furniture as an individual piece of art and let it's own individuality guide your choices(some pieces are better painted, and some are better being restored, I 1000% agree with you there), you show us mistakes you make and then explain how to fix or work around those mistakes (one of the biggest reasons to not just fast forward to the end reveal, I don't want to miss any of the little nuggets of wisdom you drop), you have an outstanding attention to the details (like inside the drawers or underneath/behind the furniture), you film and edit your videos expertly, and to top it all off- you have a pleasant voice to listen to. Anyway, I just wanted to let you know that the work you do is appreciated, inspiring, and educational. I look forward to seeing more in the future.

The dresser looks great and what an effective disguise on the top damaged area. So while the red wood looks great on this piece, I am interested in learning how to change the color of mahogany without painting (I have two solid mahogany tables that I want to make less red). Have you ever used either the commercial weathered gray stain or homemade vinegar/steel wool gray stain on mahogany? I'd love to see you attempt both of these on a mahogany piece, even a small end table or something that you could experiment with. Thanks much. Thanks for the great videos.

Germaphobe has a question here. I know these pieces get wiped out then a wax or oil inside them but I’m always grossed out at the idea of putting my clothes into an old piece. In the past, I have painted the inside of the drawers and sealed them with whatever paint clear coat I could find to ease my mind. Now I’m working on a piece for my soon to be born son and I love the idea of not just shutting out the wood but at the same time… eh. Who knows what’s been in them! One drawer in particular has a dark black stain that worries me. Idk. Not sure how to get past that anxiety about cleanliness. Also can’t wait to see that hardware pop up again in a later video 🤞🏻

If it's mold, you have very good reason. I would be very concerned as well. Perhaps just replace that part of the drawer? And burn the black stain section.
