I wish you would have touched on grounding as in generators and home panel how do they work together when connected. Seems to be a lot of mixed thoughts on this subject.

Do you have to disconnect the grid power before you switch to generator or does the line/off/generator switch delete that step? Does this system require an interlock for the main panel?

Yes. The line/off/generator switch takes care of disconnecting the grid by going from line (grid) to generator (generator). No interlock needed.
