Rosemary Boast thank you, chronic migraines are a constant companion of mine 🥺 since I was a teenager. I am sorry you suffer as well, it can be very hard to “live” with them especially when they last for days. I think because it’s been so hot I got a little dehydrated and that’s all that was needed to set them off. I have so many triggers though it’s hard to say for sure. Thank you for watching and sympathizing 🥰

Hope you are feeling better now Danielle, it shows in your voice that at this point you were not feeling quite well yet. I admire your courage and persistence, still insisting on doing the videos which are actually very good no matter what. I used to have migraines too. I suppose reasons change from person to person but in my case they stopped from the moment I stopped eating gluten and later avoiding carbohydrates. I am a bit behind on watching the videos but I am cacthing up now 💕

Fernanda Nascimento orchids & succulents thank you! ☺️ I’ve been dealing with chronic migraines for many years so I have learned to “live” through them. Sometimes I just have to give in to the pain and go to bed but sometimes I can push through and still somewhat “function”. I realized I had a gluten intolerance about 10 years ago and I’ve been gluten free ever since! Unfortunately gluten wasn’t one of my headache triggers so that remains the same but we can’t have everything can we. Thanks so much for watching!

No need to apologize when you’re not feeling well, I’m sure everyone would understand not getting a video for awhile until you’re “on the mend”🙂...I can certainly sympathize with the pain of migraines, sciatica, etc...Anyway...I transferred two of my Phals to semi water culture yesterday after noticing on one the air roots were dying and some of the blossoms were droopy and the other her air roots were dying as well so I just took her out her pot - and root rot was starting on both😢😢. I am so devastated that my girls are suffering😞. I hope they survive. I took all your advice, removed the fleshy velum where needed, sprayed her remaining roots with peroxide and root booster...added some small river rocks to each of the bottom of the glass vases to help raise the remaining roots and added minimal water to just touch the bottom of the roots. And begged forgiveness from my babies☺️...Hopefully they will be ok.

KANDIS STARR THE REAL EVP ITC I’m sorry you are a fellow sufferer. One of my triggers is pinched nerves in my neck. To many injuries from years of horse back riding (it’s really the falling off that did it).🏇🏼 lol Unfortunately the weather, allergies and even the slightest dehydration can also trigger a migraine so I basically try to be very careful. I’m like the boy in the bubble 😆

Very condensed information. Wow! And hope you feel better... This one and the other one shows how really WC is not just throw orchids in the water... and of course, following you for awhile, I know you are not also “neglect” and hope to see things happen type grower either. I have never seen this much of intense water culture video before! 👍👍
@daniellesorchidranch15914 жыл бұрын
Thank you! I used to watch people who neglected their plants and they said the plants loved it but I have for the most part found you have to get some idea of what each plant likes first before you can grow it properly. I think WC gets a bad reputation because people find they can’t grow this way. But a lot of people think it is just putting the plant in water and seeing what happens with no thought to water levels and all the other factors that go into growing. Then when it fails they say water culture doesn’t work. 🤷🏼♀️ It’s certainly not for everyone, I think it’s more work then traditional growing methods.
@orchidsbythelake4 жыл бұрын
Danielle's Orchid Ranch I think this series of videos will teach many viewers if WC is right method for them or not. I need to try one too! At this point, I am carefully determining which one would be the mouse..... I mean the candidate.

@daniellesorchidranch15914 жыл бұрын
In this video it is the bark she came from the nursery in. I have since transferred her to the same set up as my Cattleya’s with the glass beads and I have added microfiber stripes to keep humidity in the cup.
@elizabethdasigan40014 жыл бұрын
Hi Danielle, wish you are well & safe as of this time. My question is, do you wash those beads or pebbles in the Cattleya or you just let it stay then drain up to the holes? If it does not get wash, will algae form in the vase later? I tried to do it with my vanda seedling in a glass vase but later on return to the semi water culture with the glass beads because I don’t see what the roots are doing & it looks like she’s not happy with it. Thanks for the response.

Anyone who's ever had migraines can sympathize, I'm fortunate that mine have diminished with age, probably haven't had one in ten years or so. I can remember in college having one, which was so bad I had to go to the ER, going in for an organic chemistry midterm and I couldn't read anything on the paper. The professor was totally non-sympathetic so I had to drop the class and retake it the next term. Hope you're feeling better now.
@daniellesorchidranch15914 жыл бұрын
Michael McCarthy that’s rough, people who haven’t had one find it hard to understand, like your unsympathetic professor. I am feeling better thank you, I’ve learned to function through the pain but sometimes it is so bad it affects my speech and can take me out for days. I’ve been a lot better, they’ve been less frequent, but we had a bad storm and it’s been so hot so I think the combination of the change in barometric pressure and being dehydrated was my downfall this time.

Hi! Hope u feel better soon!! I get the migrains 2..ugh..i know ur pain.. I have found that the mini phals in sphagnum moss are very temperamental when switching to water culture..i like the minis ..i have room for more!..sometimes they come with a sponge plug..ive left that on and put the plant in her new home..i water it daily if need b..just like you said..each plant has its own way of likes and dislikes..i found the minis like a cramped home..i use tiny creamers or my crystal tiny glasses..im glad they get used and look so beautiful to see their roots etc. Any way..i have a question.. my water is chlorinated..so i keep milk containers filled and i let it age,i use after a week..so do you treat your water ? My son said i should use the filtered water from my water filter pitcher..also i water all my house plants with water from the tap..they all seem fine,and ive rooted so many types of plant cuttings in,including african violets...ive seen some people use some sort of a filter system.. Ps your orchid so beautiful.. All your plants love you!!
@daniellesorchidranch15914 жыл бұрын
So this is a complicated subject but I’ll do my best. While chlorine itself is not necessarily harmful to most orchids (it can actually help keep algae under control) there are some orchids that object to it and high levels are not good. That being said there’s no real way of knowing what’s coming out of our tap as far as levels and nutrients so many people choose to either filter their water or use distilled or rain water. However this to has its challenges because although tap can be filtered the pH is still a factor which is also a consideration with rain water (generally more acidic) and distilled (generally more alkaline). There are so many my factors involved with this I always recommend doing research to come up with a method that you are comfortable with. And just remember that there are many people out there that water with tap and their orchids are perfectly happy. If your plants seem happy and are growing and blooming you must be doing something right. If your noticing deficiencies or they don’t seem as vigorous perhaps there are adjustments you can make for your specific circumstances. I am currently doing an experiment with a Phal where I am only giving her tap (well) water to see if the nutrients in my well water is sufficient for her. If you decide to tweak your water perhaps try it on a few plants at first to see if it truly is better for them. Hope that is helpful !

My Orchid has one bottom yellow leaves and tight roots ball I have to check and if it has rotten roots have to wait after flowers welt. I Use rain water instead of hard water . This is my eighth orchid . I love their flower but they died under my care. Over hard water or remove the decorated pot.

Lori Case if you are referring to the Cattleya I put water in up to the top. Let it sit for an hour and then drain off the water above the reservoir. If you are unfamiliar with what that means check out my video on transferring Cattleya’s to water culture.
