My Dad was a sign painter and used gold leaf on many of his jobs on commercial trucks, race cars, motorcycles, and fire engines. After using the brush, you could lightly use a cotton ball in a circular motion to create a nice swirl design in the gold leaf.

What power and speed did you use for this? The blue laser from a diode and the blue tape generally, in my experience doesn't work well. Seem like you'd have better luck with regular beige masking tape....or not tape at all.

That is really nice method. 🤩 So many things you could do. I have used similar method to etch metal (electrolyte) using the laser but removed paint instead.

I'd love to have this laser but as a hobbyist that doesn't sell anything I just can't justify spending $2K but I am considering a 30W machine just can't make up my mind which one to choose. You did make a masterpiece out off that box for sure. Thanks for the idea.

where do you find the patterns for the laser inlays

Does it burn with the laser into the wood or only enough to burn away the blue tape? Any residues left from the blue tape? Very nice done!

You can do it at lower power to just burn the tape. My power was a little high, I burned a bit in the wood

How do you use the 2 point positioning on a round pendant?

You will use single point. Place cross hair in middle of pendant
