Devastator has always been a popular combiner, as he was the first in the G1 cartoon and comic. We compare the Combiner Wars version of the toy to the knock-off, which is identical in form but smaller. Captain Kyle breaks it down by character with a complete review and comparison. These Constructicons are an excellent upgrade and addition to your Decepticon Forces.
Transformers Combiner Wars Devastator is considered a Titan and is larger in scale than many of the other Combiner Wars or Titans Return gestalt sets. It proved so popular that Hasbro, to the chagrin of some collectors, reissued the set in early 2021. One downside is the lack of individual weapons for the characters, but you can purchase a set on eBay with this link: ebay.us/Hn7Jkh The undersized knock-off is excellent quality, much less pricey and in scale with many of the other Combiner sets. So he can face off against the Autobot combiners like Superion and Defensor. Use the larger version to fight Omega Supreme.

I bought that KO and it's FANTASTIC. It's damn solid, including the ratchets. It's incredible. The I bought a 3D printed "shoe" to make Mixmaster's truck mode the "right" way. I painted it and it's a perfect match. The irony is that this "shoe" cost me as much as the whole combiner.

I have it too, and for sculpt and quality of plastics I am very satisfied.Sure, it's not original but sometimes we collectors need to try a compromise, without losing in quality.Also the Pentajet of this line is very good, you need only to buy the original stickers of AB and DCns and the job is done

@@Megatronus-productions It is cheap plastic. Hooks knee joint snapped when I first transformed him so I had to glue it. thankfully it's hidden when combined.

I think the knock-off fit pretty well with the Core figures if you want a "cartoon scale" Devastator. For the Constucticons I think Hauler was one of them and then became an Autobot(maybe even Grapple but idk)

Nice review man! Yeah I got the small scaled Devs about 2 yrs ago and I dig him! The Hasbro is WAY too pricey plus if you have ocd like me, if you have other combiners from the main line they scale just right with this guy!

Thank you for this review, it made my choice to get the smaller KO. Also found out that the individual pieces you get from the gun and chest plate acts as guns, besides the rocket launching spotlights. Also, been enjoying binge watching your content, love your humour =}

Just ordered the KO recently, does have it's issues but still looks pretty damn close to the old Devastator in the original cartoons and the Hasbro version without costing a small forture, really wanted them as a little kid and now as a big kid😏finally got one at a good price on ebay, just under $50, and to me just the right suze anyway, the original wasn't all that big either, only thing about it i would say is to keep it in the combined pose more often because it is cheaper quality and stuff will break on it, it's cool to transform it into the separate vehicles and robots but i wouldn't do it very often, looks better in the Devastator pose anyway, always loved the Combiner Transformers and Devastator is my favorite and the OG combiner, Was always a big highlight when the Constructicons formed Devastator, Shit was On!! Revenge of the Fallen didn't do him any justice and really did suck!

It's been almost five years since I got the KO set. Got it back in June 2019. I *absosmurfinlutely* advise using caution, the plastic IS kinda thin. By January 2020, the part that holds the combiner peg which flips out from Hook to attach to Bonecrusher snapped off. It wasn't a big deal at first, the chest wing could still hold him in place. Since then, other bits have broke off, and now they're effectively unable to properly form Devastator again. 😑

Got this knock off, it’s very good for the size and price! By chance, do you happen to know the port sizes of the figures? For some reason Hook can hold a 5mm, but the other 5 can’t but seem to maybe be a 4mm?? If you know, I’d appreciate your help thanks!

I would assume the KO would be more stable to the real thing? Like I read stories that if he topple over, there is a high chanse of breakage. That being said, aren't the KO made of cheaper plastics so there's that too.

Like you, I also got both versions, as I have also gotten the regular sized CW versions and the OS versions of either CW or 3rd Party options, such as OS/KO Warbotron BRUTICUS or the OS retooled SUPERION sets, for example... and even 2 completely different OS/KO's of DEFENSOR, (the bigger and better of which I bought after watching your review of it last year)... There are still a few OS/KO'S that I am waiting on, such as MENASOR, COMPUTRON, and PIRANHACON, to complete a series of "Titan Class" combiners alongside my CW scale 12" or so sized combiners... While I do have 3 versions of a Titan scale PREDAKING, one of which is the OS/KO of the MMC Feral Rex by Jinbao, I have yet to get a 12" CW sized PREDAKING to have pretty much all of the CW sized combiners except for a MONSTRUCTOR!!! (Come on, Hasbro! DO IT!!!)😅😂😂 That said, having just watched your 6 in 1 PREDAKING Undersized KO video the other night, I am hopeful that I can find one for my collection now... So, thank you for letting us know about that set! As for these DEVASTATOR versions... As I said, I have both and I love both. Granted, I did buy both Perfect Effect upgrade kits for my Hasbro set, AND equally important, a Dr. WU crane upgrade for Hook, which extends out 2 sections, if I recall correctly, but is an excellent piece for that figure, and DEVASTATOR can even use it as a club weapon. One PE set has the weapons and, I believe, some new joints for the individual bots, to arm them up and improve articulation... not as important to most, as many will just keep him in Combined mode anyway... but the second set, and the additional DNA set I picked up, have other pieces that greatly improve the Combined mode, including a proper G1 looking Mixmaster cab/foot piece... (That particular mixer is a modern design which allows the truck to drive right up to where the concrete is needed and pour it, rather than having to constantly back into difficult positions to do the same thing... the thing that looks like a mini-cab is actually a separate motor housing that runs the mixer drum. Living in SE GA area, I see them almost daily, oftentimes coming in and out of our development as they build new houses 🏘... FYI.) The DNA kit has several similar parts, including a cabover foot piece, and articulated fingers/hands, as well as shoulder connections which increases arm posability at the shoulders... I actually let my buddy have the extra parts to upgrade his DEVASTATOR, since I didn't need all of them. I believe the PE set offers a single crane extension, using the stock crane itself, once removed and snapped inside the included halves to hold it and popped back onto Hook. I let him have that also, since I had the Dr. WU crane... Sadly, the downsized set didn't come with any KO'd upgrades included, but it's still a really fun set, and works nicely with the rest of the CW combiners. Also, in addition to those two DEVASTATOR sets, I also found a KO Jinbao (?) set of the GTR(?) DEVASTATOR, so I can display them in Combined mode and a set in bot/alt modes for display options... and with the upcoming SS86 DEVASTATOR on the way next year, we'll see how they scale with these guys to determine how the display will work at that point. I'm about to watch a video regarding a couple of other DEVASTATOR options you've got up, so you may have done a video on the last set I have (with upgrades) already, so I'm looking forward to that. Thank you for the great content! Jason at PPR is a friend of mine, and I mostly watch his reviews and yours lately, moreso than any others, on a regular basis. You cover a LOT of stuff others don't, even if it's not necessarily new anymore, which is fine with me, lol.

I have to say, I'm glad I'm not the only one who has multiple versions of Devastator... and Predaking... and Menasor... etc. And I love the Oversized stuff... Demon Knight Defensor versus Predaking is a cool match-up. And it would be great to get a new version of Monstructor. I'm glad you're enjoying the content... and Jason is a great guy. Worth watching his stuff, most definitely. And yes, I do tend to try to cover stuff that others don't. Part of it is because I stopped collecting for a while, so if it's new to me, I'm going to do a video. Plus, it's hard to stand out when you're doing the same videos as everyone else. @ToySpotlite Yeah, Jason and I have been good friends for a few years now, and I was one of his original "Dirty Dozen" subscribers, as I refer to us 😅, when he started his channel. It would definitely be fun to meet up with you at a show sometime. I used to be a regular guest artist at around 14 comic conventions each year, for about 26 years or so, until I moved to GA, and decided that I'd take a break from guesting at cons and selling my artwork. Just didn't feel like having to reestablish myself all over again in an entirely new and different area where no one had even heard of me, so I've just taken an indefinite break for the time being. I'm hoping that I can get to TFCon or something sometime soon, and be able to catch up with a few friends and meet new friends, such as yourself. I know what you mean about having someone besides yourself who gets more than one version of these combiners, lol. Most people I know who collect, have little to no knowledge about the KO'S or 3rd Party versions of these guys, so it's like talking to myself sometimes. 🙄😅 It's fine though, because I enjoy them regardless of whether anyone else does or not, and that's what matters. I actually bought the Demon Knight (Defensor) set because of your review, even though I already had an OS/KO CW version of the team, but it was without the integrated upgrades that Demon Knight Defensor. That actually worked out great for me, because I had gotten the other previous set, mostly to display in their alt modes, so that the Rescue Copter (Blades) and Firetruck (Hotspot) would be in closer scale with the deluxe CW First Aid & Streetwise, along with the legends class Groove in his bike mode... Now, I can display the scaled vehicles, the CW standard bots, and OS/KO DEMON KNIGHT DEFENSOR Combiner together if I want to, and have the space to do that. Now, I'm just hoping to get that 6 in 1 Predaking set to scale in with the regular CW version combiners. Since I have an OS/KO VOLCANICUS, a couple of regular sets, and the recent leader class Dinobot team, to create a display with those guys facing off... the Jinbao OS/KO Predacon bots are more in scale with the leader class Dinobots, so that could be a good way to face them off...

My grandfather used to operate one, and from what I hear, he was damn good at it, and did stuff with one that others didn't dare try, like using the claw to "climb up and down" embankment on the sides of hills and ravines that basically went straight down... one guy referred to it as daredevil stuff, but my grandfather just did it like it was nothing.
