UPDATE 11/12/18: So a week later from this review, i've had 2 tabs break clean off and had another that is stressed to the point where it is going to break. I have only transformed the figure 3 times. I DO NOT recommend you pick this up until there is some recognition on Takara and Hasbro's part and they fix it. Apologies for being negative but when you pay over £120.00 for a product, you expect it to be made out of high-quality materials! Hi again PrimeVsPrime. After a week of trying to fix my mpm Ironhide, I have given up. This thing that Hasbro/Takara released is a fucking plastic metal potato... I wanted to cancel my pre-order through Ami Ami, I thought the Takara Ver. would not have the same B.S. Oh how wrong I was. It's nothing but a stature, if I wanted a stature I would buy Michelangelo's David... One thing for sure, I will not buy from the MPM line anymore. Has/Tak has failed real hard. They're going to have to reorganize themselves and work like they've never worked in their lives if they want to continue the MPM line. I will not be con again from them. Sorry for my long reply, ranting and cursing.

None of the MPM figures are all that great compared to the G1 masterpieces in my opinion, so I kind of expected these kind of issues with Ironhide beforehand. MPM-04 Optimus can't transform properly into truck mode and MPM-03 Bumblebee is a pain in the ass to pose because of how top heavy he is. However, I do love the MPM line because while they're not great toys to "play with", they are wonderful set pieces and very screen accurate. Not to mention they can transform because yenno,....Transformers lol. I'm still psyched to get this guy. I just hope they do a better job with MP Ratchet and Jazz when they eventually roll out.

@MTWENTY Movie Masterpiece Prime can *technically* transform into truck mode properly, but the instructions included with the figure are wrong, and even with that the figure itself is kinda fiddly. Luckily some reviewers figured out a better method a while ago, but that doesn't really fix a lot of things with how the figure was designed.

I think it depends from Figure to figure, I bought the Takara version MPM4 and he transforms great!

@PrimeVsPrime I watched a review of some version of MPM-04, and I can't remember if it was the Hasbro version, the TakaraTomy version, or a more refined knockoff, but I distinctly recall one version fixing the issue with the lower parts of the smokestacks not being able to swing out all the way due to a molding error that kept it from swinging out fully. I think I once heard that you could correct that yourself by cutting out a space for it to move, or maybe it was also an issue with the part's hinge as well. I don't remember. Y'know, it's ironic how I say all this shit about Masterpiece Transformers, yet I don't own a single one of them.

Yeah I actually bought the Takara mpm4 and in this video I compare the 2 in vehicle mode and the truck mode is almost perfect. It’s strange how the same figure can work and then other times not

OMG HE’S FINALLY HERE! Great review PvP. Besides the chest engineering flaw, He’s an absolute amazing mpm figure. Hopefully the rumors of the next 2 MPM’s being TF1 Megatron and Jazz turns out true cause we really need a better toy representation of TF1 Megs.

I hope so because I don't like how the wheels don't lock in anywhere, his bear back , or how his cannons are under his forearms instead of being on the side. Plus the back of his shoulder armor is too low. But hey I'm just not picking

One, you're the first toy reviewer I've seen who had nitpicks or problems with this figure AND YET dealt with it so maturely and calm. 😂that's nice. Also, it is a shame. I too have been looking forward to this figure but glad haven't pre-ordered him cuz it's upsetting to see the flaws he has. 😭please knock offs, we're counting on you. 🙌

Haha thanks! Yeah I mean overall it’s a nice figure, just suffers from some design flaws. Overall the positives out-way the negatives. However, as you said, I think this has left Hasbro and Takara vulnerable to consumers just purchasing the KO which is a shame

That's a Toilet if u order the dna kit from bbts, you get the exclusive “lubricating chihuahua” to pose next to ironhide’s foot on top of the standard dotm blasters.

Thank you for the transformation, it seemed like a more complex figure than I expected, honestly. Nice alt mode, and even with the panels, the robot mode looks cool.

Worth the wait imo, I dont mind the drab paint job, I can just customize mine to fix it. Definitely better than the SS one. I hate the torso on that guy, it just kills the vibe of the figure for me, glad I waited for this guy to come out.

As slightly frustrating as the arm connections to shoulder/ chest piece are, absolutely EXCELLENT figure! SO glad I was able to find one fully intact recently on Ebay for $65, $83 total after shipping/taxes, with just a little dust. Np. Looks great standing next to MPM Ratchet and all of the MPM Decepticons I have (Megatron, Starscream, Blackout, Barricade.)Just trying to get MPM 3 Bumblebee and Jazz, then Optimus; as my original ROTF Leader Optimus Prime does the job (with fully articulated hands mod.) I painted mines knuckles brass and also took a fine pointed file and filed the inside of the female tab ports on his wrists so the gun panels now fit in snug

Nice review! Sure, it looks stunning as a static display piece, but this is a transforming figure; which is meant to be played around with. The problem with these MPM figures is that there has to be a balance between the price and quality ratio; all the problems (lack of tabs etc.) can be ignored if this was significantly cheaper, but being a "masterpiece" as well as the most expensive MPM released to date, this is unacceptable. Shame, I was originally also looking forward to this figure.

Theres a new version of this coming out soon. I think its black apple, but dont quote me on that. Anyway, they've changed the design some, included more accessories and i believe its an OS version. If they fixed the chest problems, it's worth a look just for that. The photos look amazing, and they managed to fit the cannons into the vehicle mode. It looks wicked!!

Bumblebee is actually supposed to be 17 ft tall in the movie so it looks to be exact scale in my eyes. Any smaller and he’d not look like the movie. He was never tiny like in the cartoons. Thank god. It looks to be exact scale to me. I think since it is an official product they realize the scale better then us fans. So if they say that’s the scale it’s supposed to be then it is the scale.

I just wanted to call attention to the shoulders of Ironhide. If anyone goes back to watch the movies, then you'll see that he hood move with his arms/shoulders. So although it's unfortunate that the hood doesn't lock in place, it's more movie accurate

Yeah you’re absolutely right, and it actually helps for articulation so in a way it’s a good thing

The shoulder pads can lock. When you have the shoulder pads in the right position you can tab the tire into a point underneath. This will keep the shoulders steady, though if you move the arm around too much it’ll un-tab and you have to redo it. But contrary to what a lot of people are saying, you can actually lock the shoulders in place.

With that being said he looks fantastic although with the issues you presented I think he could have been a little cheaper ( I paid 140$ for this guy). Hell with all the waiting and delays that's been around this guy I just want my damn copy already.

Hi PrimeVsPrime, my Ironhide Takara Ver. from Ami Ami came about 3 + hours ago. After spending all that time messing around and inspecting him, it seems I've got a good one in the draw from the lot. It is not perfect that I can say. From what I can see nothing was broken from the shipping, the taps in the chest and shoulders seem to be good. Although I think with a bit of Future polish it will make them better. The panels on the arms seem to be a hit and miss with mine. Left arm cannot peg but stays on place very well. The right has an issue not staying in place, but the bloody peg seems to connect with that side, that does not make sense ? "Sigh's" At the moment I'm not sure how I feel, need a few days for it to sink in to see If I grow to like him or hate him. Not even sure if I want to transform him at all. Time will tell, sorry for this long message, just wanted to let people know.

Nice review! Those chest tabs would really bug me. Some KO company is going to make a KO that makes everything tighter, and I hate that Takara makes it so easy for them to improve the design.

I feel like there's SOME sort of fix or mod that can be done for the chest/arms. Mine comes on wednesday so hopefully he's OK. He sure LOOKs totally amazing and perfect so I'm still super pumped! If I want an Ironhide to throw in my backpack and stuff I'll always still have the SS figure. Also, you shouldn't have lied about the cannons being removable. I know you know after effects so you probably just used some movie magic ;)

I think also that they made the arms that way cause that’s how it would work I. Real life. Like it actually looks like it did in the movie. When his arms moved so did the hood. Is it perfect no but it does look semi realistic.

What was the flaw again? I watched the entire review but i dont remember flaw. The joints/ratchets are tight? 120 EURO/POUND is like more than 150 USD!! Holy cow i preordered this guy at 88.80 i believe. Its probably has something to do with getting from Asia not Japan, right? China is really expensive comparably.

Wow you got a steal! And no even U.K. retailers are pricing him at £120 which is insane! The problems I have is that the shoulders are too loose and can’t cope with the weight of the cannons. Masterpiece is better in terms of accuracy, Studio Series is better in terms of sturdiness. I guess it depends on what you want from a figure

I’ve seen two reviews of this guy already and both of them involved the reviewers struggling to transform into the alt mode without everything falling apart. Yet somehow you’re not having that problem. Now I’m unsure whether to go with this Masterpiece figure or the leader class released for Dark of the Moon.

i still like it a lot, maybe there are some improvements that could be made, lie better tabbing for example, also i was looking at the design of the arm panels and if the weapons pegs were on a longer joint properly positioned it could be plugged the same way they go in robot mode and even hide them under the vehicle, again that would requite maybe shapeways pieces, but nothing too extreme, just a new joint, for the tabs maybe...floor polish? i mean, for the price one shouldn't have to, but still is an option also maybe untab the leg panels on the back to allow for more knee bent, another thing one shouldn't have to do, but its still possible to get more articulation, anyway the sculpt wouldn't look broken given how the design is
