I love the symbolism of Optimus and Megatron Birth. Megatron looks like he's risen but in reality has fallen, by becoming a Monster who just killed his "Brother". Optimus looks like he's fallen but instead Rising up as a Hero, who will lay down his spark for others, so they can have a better future.

Exactly. Megatron believes himself to rise as the new leader of Cybertron, but has fallen into darkness. And it would seem Orion Pax's story has come to an end as he disappears into shadow, but it is actually a new beginning as he rises out of the shadows as the new beacon of hope, as Optimus Prime the Last Prime.

Also, if you look at it Megatron / Optimus - Being a Prime and the Matrix of Leadership. Megatron became a leader but only serve himself and believed other should serve him. Optimus got the Matrix because a true leader realizes being a leader is not about power for yourself, but to "serve" and protect others. A lot of politicians needs to learn this lesson.

“I… Am… MEGATRON!!!” “ARISE… Optimus Prime!” This was the ‘Avengers… Assemble’ of Transformers One. Seeing the ‘deaths’ of D-16 and Orion Pax and then being reborn as the villain and hero we know and love them for. Best Transformers movie ever since the original (animated and/or Bayverse)

This whole sequence is a call back to Beast Wars. Basically: Optimus Primal gets a new form from Matrix of Leadership and Megatron 2 from the spark of Megatron 1 The latter is also where the Megatron named after Megatronus thing started.

@ not yet as he never claimed it. He’s still going by D-16. Probably in part 2 he’ll change that but he hasn’t when it comes to this film and you can’t say he’s megatron due to it being transformers. No stop treating it like Batman fans who combine all Batman and forget that it’s alternate universes and they are not the same. In this movie he’s not megatron yet even if he changed the cog he’s not Megatron until he makes the claim
