That gray doesn't actually look that terrible as some of the pictures made it seem. This is probably one of the best entries into the Studio Series line. I think they captured the detail of RotF Megatron's design excellently.

Actually, Optimus was scaled up during the Forest Battle. He's about the size of Starscream during that incredible fight.

Such an amazing figure. If I had to nitpick, he has a gappy back which can be solved by swiveling the turrets and a lackluster paint scheme. Asides that, very accurate to the film and is definitely a buy as well as a step up from the Megs in the ROTF toyline.

Great review! I had no idea we were getting a new Megatron! (I haven't really been paying attention to Transformers for the last several months, too busy with Jurassic World stuff!) What a pleasant surprise! Going to have to scoop him up, namely because of that movie-accurate head sculpt!

I can see a 3rd party in the future releasing parts to cover up the hollow area of the torso, a normal arm piece to replace the cannon arm and exra leg parts go cover up the gap you get in the legs when you extend the legs to make Megatron taller. It might not happen but it would be nice. Also to those complaining about Blackouts size, in the video games Megatron is taller than Blackout. Blackout's mass however is as big as Megatron, just not the head height. So if you want to go by video game scale I'd say this is quite accurate.

I very much love this version of Megatron as it’s very close to many of his appearances in other media, namely that of Cybertronian Destroyer Tank. I love the size of this figure! I did have three gripes with this figure. The first being the gap in his torso in robot mode. The second was the lack of wings in tank form. The third was the cannon should have been an accessory similar to Deluxe Bumblebee. In light of these gripes, I can truthfully say that DNA Design did a fantastic job with their upgrade kit to this figure. It addresses every issue. I can not recommend this kit enough. Although, I still wish the wings would swivel and fill in the torso gaps completely with mechanical moulding that blends in and ties the figure together. Oh well, there’s always round 2...

Hasbro has definitely gotten more accurate with the movie designs. I honestly wish these studio designs were the ones used for the toys that were sold when the movies came out as opposed to the half assed crap I got when i was a kid when the 07 film and ROTF came out. DOTM was the last time I bought transformers toys regularly before I grew out of toys (I was 12 and a half when DOTM came out), I still love watching Transformers shows and movies and playing Transformers video games but I grew out of the toys.

Hey primevsprime I have a question: I received my Megatron and I noticed when in robot mode the cannon for the tank mode bends around the hinge for the back, I was wondering does this happen to your figure as well or am I mistransforming it?

Damn like I know that this new studio series is basing off their figures with the heights in the movies but I WISH that they could have made the Optimus and Megatron in the Leader Class versions cause the Blackout and Grimlock are outstanding with their leader class treatment haha

This is probably the best representation of ROTF Megatron in figure form. If the figure didn’t have a gaping hole going through him and if it had silver paint all over the figure, this figure would almost be perfect. Although, I’ve never been a fan of Megatron’s design in ROTF.

I just got my SS Megatron last week and I like it, but wasn't keen on how the back looked, so I modified mine by cutting of the 'left' section to make him look symmetrical from the back (And then painted him in dark sliver). I'm just nitpicking, but I don't like tank mode's extra cannons. The ROTF robot didn't have them, but they look more like the DOTM robot's smokestacks. But that doesn't make sense, it's highly unlikely that they'd make a DOTM retool out of this mold

PrimeVsPrime if it's based on the concept art that must explain why there are no extra thrusters on the back of the tank mode he has I believe at least 4? He only has 2 in toy mode and that bothers me 2 on the sides and the 2 he has now should be a bit further back but oh well.
