When I saw "Age of Extinction" in theaters and Ratchet was killed by Lockdown, I cried like a baby. But, IMO, Animated Ratchet and Arcee make quite an adorable couple. Heck, if TFA had gotten a fourth season, I think there should have been a Christmas-themed episode where Sari and Bumblebee play matchmaker and try to get Ratchet and Arcee under the mistletoe.

I will say, my favourite Ratchet moment was in the IDW comics, and actually after he had died, so minor spoilers for the very last chapter. During his funeral Whirl (one of the wreckers who had been a clockmaker and then lost his hands) was attending on parole and was approached by Drift after the service. As it turns out, Ratchet had left his hands to Whirl in his will so that he could have proper hands again, something Whirl had wished for previously

I actually have my own variant on Ratchet, which incorporates his attitude from Prime with his scientific knowledge and willingness to cooperate with the inventor/assistant medic Wheeljack from G1.. (Wheeljack in my version is a combination of his G1 inventor/medic job and his job as a Wrecker in Transformers: Prime. Basically, he's the Wreckers' engineer, repairing 'bots and breaking 'cons, while inventing new ways and new mechanisms to do both.) Not to mention his classic Prime catchphrase: "I NEEDED THAT!"

God, this made me tear up. Thank you, thank you so much for this. Ratchet is one of my favorite Transformers EVER! He's THE supporting character and a pillar to whatever group he's part of. I watched G1 as a bitty, and Ratchet was one I always remembered aside from Optimus Prime and Bumblebee. No matter which series he's in, he has seen some shit. Probably one of my favorite moments of Ratchet from Prime was when he (almost drunkenly) referenced Bantor from BeastWars. Ratchet: "Do I hear a Fuzor in need of voice box repair?..." AgentFowler: "WHAT THE HECK IS A FUZOR!?!?!?!?" Ratchet: "... Just ask Bantor, he was all mandrill before I put a tiger in his tank!" That line gets me every time! It's fun for me because I actually have Bantor's toy from the BeastWars toy-line; I always wanted to know more about him, since he never appeared in the cartoon. How about it Chris McFeely? A basics video on Bantor, perhaps? There were a lot of BeastWars characters that never appeared in the BeastWars cartoon, maybe you could do a video or 2 about them. My all-time favorite Ratchet is the Marvel Comics version. For all intents and purposes, HE was Megatron's rival instead of Optimus. Also, his friendship with Prime was given perhaps its deepest portrayal, with each taking an issue to mourn the other's death--and with Optimus's conflict over what to do about the Ratchet/Megatron fusion forming one of the key storylines of "The Price of Life" (one of my favorite comics ever). Even Ratchet's ultimate sacrifice in that series--crashing the Ark to stop Megatron and company--invokes Optimus, highlighting how interconnected the three of them were.
