You really need to look into being a stylist. Your top alone looks amazing. During the process - and I loved you documented your creative issues and struggles cause that's relative and just awesome to ride the rollercoaster of doubt - I was worried it looked too high school sewing project, but damn it turned out. And then the styling just blew the other out of the water. The skirt is amazing too! Maybe proportions are a bit off but get you didnt want to lose the zipper length. I say you won cause your outfits (both) are so wearable.

April, I can't tell you how much I appreciate that you know what you are doing!!! I have seen on so many youtube tutorials, people that are TEACHING how to sew and they don't sew hems up twice or turn fabric under when it should be. They teach the wrong way to do things. If you are talking about the clothes (the shirt and jeans) if you go to a thrift store (like Goodwill) you can find them for less than 15$ ! I recently bought 4 t-shirts at Goodwill for 12$

Selena - no she meant how much time each piece took to create. But that would depend on how good you were with sewing measuring and templates. Each person is different.

RealJudyi Yes, but knowing your skill set you could at least estimate how long it would take just by hearing how long it takes her. For example, if she could finish a shirt in 3 hours, it’d take me 1 week. Bc I fcking suck lol

In my younger years and when I started sewing I also made tonns of bodices and bustiers. Now I am not into it anymore but I think playing with that it makes you very creative and exerienced with difficult forms and seams. Looking very cute !

Great transformation! Do you have any videos that show how to do that elastic technique you used on the cups? I only ever use elastic in casing, but I often see it used to prevent gapping like that and would love to learn how to surface apply it.

Beautiful top!! I’d love to try. I was think you could’ve done a ruffle hem on the skirt with the leftover shorts fabric, but you probably didn’t have any left after the top and the straps. What you ended up doing looked great! 🙌🏽

You can sew two straight basting stitches about 1/4" apart and then gather them together at the same time, this gives you a cleaner distribution when gathering.. .

I enjoyed the intro production for the DIY Challenge, it was so funny. This is great that you and April got together on this because both of you are equally innovative in upscaling thrift finds and DIYs. Like both end results, like Orly (it a little more simple to achieve for those without major skills) because of the two piece results, look, and my more likely to wear and I like April for the items she thrifted, style (like that it had thick shoulder straps) and the handy work used was so intricate and if I was not so large in the chest area it would be a go. Also like how you did not let anything go to waste and made a skirt. Thanks for sharing and continued blessing in to you both in 2019.
