Years ago each time a dear little boy, the son of a friend, entered my home he would always say "JoJo, your house always gives me a hug." His expression of my house was the most complimentary comment I ever received and it still vibrates through me. Now, as an adult, that young man now tells me that my house surrounds him with Love. That little boy grew up in affluence with a house that was professionally decorated. All that money can buy will not necessary bring you serenity and a life of peace and harmony. Like you, I repurpose everything, most that I found on the side of the street. I have an abundance of plants that wrap around the windows and up the corners of walls on unique trellises. My walls are covered with my paintings that are framed with branches. I love saving an item from a landfill and wish more people would. God Bless your beautiful spirit with a light that radiates out and uplifts so many. Thank you and keep sharing your beautiful energy but always radiate inwards first.

Hearth Fairy, I visited this secondhand shop and noticed they had a poetry book and I bought it at whim. When I had time to open it, I discovered that it is from the U.K. poet Lauret William Wordsworth (funny about his name!) and today this book is a hundred and eighteen years old! Oh Paola 🌷🌈 what a special video! I SO hear and feel your thoughts about the feelings/smells/ambient sounds and the manner your home feels!! “Kitten” offered me a few belly chuckles and MrDarcy, genuine smiles! I have soft wind chimes tied to the entry of my condo door so the lovely sound welcomes me back home! I chose a matching white cloth ribbon 🎀 to attach to inside knob! Due to being a “woman of a certain age,” if I had running water sounds, I would constantly be “running” to the loo 🚽 (I hope that offered a grin 😄 to you and others in our community!) Wedding plans must all be in order as your voice shared peace and contentment 💞🤗!

Oh my GOSH your kitten is so invested! What a precious baby, she's going to be so gorgeous as she grows! 😂🤣😂 The kitten we found under our shed last year is now 1 year old and has reached the teenage terror stage, hahaha! She's into EVERYTHING. As I type this, she's viciously murdering a twist tie. Your home is coming together so beautifully! Everything is so cozy and inviting! And if you want any more plants to add to your collection, hoyas and peperomias are not toxic to pets, and there are so many varieties! :) And I'm sure you know this but just in case you don't, your (very gorgeous) pothos is toxic to pets, so just keep an eye on the wee explorer. :) I love how you choose to decorate and use sounds and smells and such, your style is so warm and welcoming and like just....*you*. Hi Paola, one way to gets smells out of old rugs is to fill a bucket half full of : warm water, add a few squeezes of grease cutting dishwasher soap, half a cup of bicarbonate of soda ( aka baking soda), half a cup coarse salt a few drops lemon essential oil. Mix well and scrub the carpets . They will take a few days to dry. You can also (pre vacuuming) sprinkle them with bicarbonate mixed with your favourite essential oil blend. Leave for an hour before vacuuming. I have two large secondhand persian rugs over 30 years old and still I’m great condition….I wash then once a year and give them a ‘treatment’ vacuum once a month. It definitely helps with the smell.

I am also an artist and can't wait to have my own old house and garden to love. I have rented houses often and always decorated with things that made my space feel cozy and safe. That might be a weird word to use, but I am a highly sensitive individual and my environment is very important for my peace of mind. I use to have two adorable labradors and six cats that filled my heart with so much joy and love. Sadly, they have passed on since. Last month I lost my last himalayan flame point cat named Fizzgig. I laid by his side as his soul sword up to the heavens. It was one of the most beautiful and heartbreaking moment in my life. But his presence helped me when I lost my dear lovely mother three years ago, which was the most devastating time in my life which I'm still healing from. I'm sorry to speak of such things. I'm trying to find beauty in all passages of life. So as I try to find solace in the lose of many I've loved, I believed they carved a piece of themselves in my heart and soul for me to continue to keep their spirit alive through what i do and am at this moment in time.

You are speaking my language! I'm a Holistic Interior Decorator which means that I focus on how a space feels before getting to the visual design of a room. In my opinion, once you have set your intentions for your space it's very easy to make it come to life with pretty details and design. But if you start with the pretty details and neglect your feelings and senses then the space will feel flat and lifeless. Your home is going to be so beautiful because of the care and intention you are putting into it. Big hugs.

You are making such a lot of sense. Things in and of themselves don't necessarily make a person happy and satisfied. This is especially true when a person is decorating really to impress others and not to create an environment that suits them, their habits, and sensibilities. Too often in this age of Instagram, Facebook, etc. people become focused on just the "look" of a decorating scheme and not on the feelings that it evokes. I can't wait to see the whole house tour!

I didn't realize till this past winter how important background ambience is for my mood. I was home during the day almost everyday and it truly get's a little maddening when there's just... no sound. Found myself really appreciating the constant bird and insect chirping, or children playing outside that I hear in the summers.
@a.katherinesuetterlin30282 жыл бұрын
Some might say that we find silence maddening because we don't like hearing our own thoughts. I do not find this to be true of me. As a musician, and someone very attuned to sound as an expression of varying frequencies, I find total silence is eerie. Even a winter storm has sounds to it. If you listen carefully, you can even hear the snow fall. But that dead calm, when the storm has stopped and the power has gone out? That's what freaks me out. It's the ultimate "silence is deafening" vibe. 😖 My ears relish the ambient hum of a refrigerator, the rhythm of a dishwasher as it cleans my cookware, the quiet "Om" of the central air system, be it summer or winter. Of course, I enjoy the sounds of nature. Birds singing and making noise according to their species, frogs doing the same, etc. And water? Oh, the sound of running streams is sooo refreshing. 😁 I have a water fountain in my apt for just this reason. 😁

I tend to be quite harsh in judging my own home - it always feels messy and I never seem to be able to get the vibe that I want. I feel limited in my tiny studio apartment that I share with one of my partners. However, whenever dear friends and family comes to visit, they start yawning after an hour or two. At first I thought the air quality must be poor, but then several of them have replied that they just feel so relaxed in my home - relaxed and at ease, like it's their second home. That always warms my heart, and I actively practice to just feel gratitude towards my home instead of embarrassment or annoyance.

I love small pools of light. From candles to small lamps, to window sun catchers, And I must have fragrance everyday, a little art , flowers and a good book. I have a saying written out near my front door that reads..... a guest should leave knowing you to some degree, just by time spent in your surroundings. I strive to have that kind of cozy, welcoming vibe when people come to my home. And I can tell you are the same way. My neighbors husband always said ... this house has a special feel to it. What a compliment!

"It's not about things, it's about the feeling you're looking for in your space". 100% agreed, also can't wait to see the home tour to steal some ideas, haha.

I moved in 2018 most of my items are living in my basement creative space. That was the first space I organized after marrying. I did move my renaissance-style dolls and sewing books upstairs as they needed to be better protected. I have some crystals in my basement creative space too. I did manage to rediscover the stored aways crystals that I had in the trunks. I put a small collection of them on my work desk upstairs. Just that small feels much better than just plain. So I totally understand your reasoning about making your space feel homey. Looking forward to the tour in the next video or two. I guess my style would be more like a whimsical witch aesthetic; copper cauldrons, crystals, jarred herbs, elaborate dolls, old-fashioned brooms, books, and puppets. I would include herbs and houseplants but they don't survive the cats, so I keep plants in dried glass jars.

It was wonderful that you are making progress in your new home and sharing your adorable fur babies with us. Those purple wild flowers were so beautiful growing in the field near you. What a sight to behold indeed. 💜 Did you ever decide on a name yet for your beautiful kitten? Wishing you all the best and happiness in decorating your Fairy cottage. 🧡

You are the perfect person/channel to watch before Church on a Sunday morning ☺. I sometimes wish I still have my sense of smell. Scented candles sound so lovely.🌸

I'm here looking for a bit of peace in my soul...I hurt my foot quite bad...fooling with my son...kicked a metal door frame, 3 toes turned black and blue. As well as an inch below my toes. Was very painful at first...kind of went into shock it hurt so bad. Nothing is broken and they don't set toes anyways. But worst of all is being kept up all night. My son the night owl...insists I stay up with him. As a result I'm achy, tired and grumpy, and feel unwell...most days. Nope if I do go to sleep without telling him he will wake me up 3 or more times. Until I can't go back to sleep. Sigh! So a visit with you DearHeart is soothing. I love all your plants, your new kitten is adorable and I love what you do with your home space, we all need a bit of magical in our lives. While we hang and frame pictures of birds...you adorn your walls with beautiful art you paint...I would if I could as well...be well dear and throw some fairy dust my way.😊💟🌷🌸🍃🌷🌸🍃⛅🌜

I love all the special touches you have added to your home! I am soooo glad to see your bunny and kitten getting along. Years ago I had a cat and bunny , thankfully they tolerated each. I say tolerated because my bunny (Funny Bunny) became quite infatuated with my sweet Max (Maxine). When he was feeling a little amorous she would just run from him. Luckily, he kept his feelings in check most of the time. Can't wait to see the full home tour. I hope you are well and not over doing it.

I saw that you noted mindfulness on where you have your oils/candles/incense going depending on where your sweet animals are! ♥️ I was thinking about your fountain, and I have that same sound in my home, but it comes from my cat Marbles’ water fountain to drink out of. ☺️ Cats drink so much more readily with them than a dish of water, who knows, you may end up having one of those too! ☺️♥️🧚♀️🌱 Thank you for being you and sharing your internal intimacy and your personal space with us.
