Geoffrey, I have been married to my wife for 20+ years and your information was a major revelation for me. Since I have been listening to your videos and following your advice things have improved dramatically. I am noticing that my wife has been, in some interactions, open and loving but can shift to ambivalent and distant/protective within a day or two. I am sure this is probably normal but if you could expand on this it would be much appreciated.

Yes I do agree that wives do not have to be panic when the husband told her that he is not in love anymore. On the contrary , if husband often cheats the wife with the reason he is not in love anymore but wants to remain in the marriage for the image purpose ,this cunning, selfish ,hypocrite behaviour will make the wife angry /upset & suffer to stay in the broken marriage, especially when the wife already offer to discuss in a friendly term to divorce her without asking for money and other assets for divorce settlement.

Other videos addressing topics like this just seem to be a variation of the same text book answer. Answers that aren’t of use to people who truly are interested in understanding the causes of tensions, & how to play an active role in bridging the gaps. Thanks so much for your video. It tells the honest truth of how to look to ourselves to make changes, instead of simply making the easy choice of vilifying the non-vulnerable or slightly aloof partner.

Thanks for this. I know that i have created safety for my partner and he has opened up to me that he is sorry that he pushed me to separation. I typically say something like, "I appreciate you for being honest with me. I know what you shared was hard and you have a right to having your feelings. I am sorry that you are feeling that way, how can i help you feel better about it?"

By the way, i have the anxious preoccupied attachment one and he has the dismissive avoidant attachment. For him to say that is truly a change. I have be practicing more of stepping back from reaching out after i moved out and allowing the space for him to think about what he really wants. I was fearful that we wouldn't be ok but in time, i got alot of clarity and we both were able to see that what we were doing was not healthy. He is alot more vulnerable with me and i started focusing on me but am still supportive of him.

I'm sure that this is really good advice to where it applies, I feel it's a bit one-sided, I'll explain why: If I am always open and calm when asking my s/o to share with me, but the he simply doesn't want to open up, and when he does, they are half truthful, more often than not, I without me ever having over reacted, they simply don't want to open up. Just a thought.

Hi Tanya, The process of rebuilding trust and safety is very slow… For someone to be completely vulnerable, they have to genuinely feel safe that they will be understood…
