Evidently this guy doesn't have as much hurricane experience as he thinks...what is he going to do after the storm passes when there is no electricity, limited gasoline and running water problems. He'll be one of those people crying out to the US government to rescue him. Hoping the best for the people of Jamaica.

Why would he do that? Sure, you can ride out a storm. But what about AFTER the storm when infrastructure is so devastated that getting out of Jamaica is going to be be difficult and delayed??

The thing is hurricane season is June to November in most of the Caribbean that's 6 months of the year, normally hurricane doesn't come this early so I understand why people wouldn't anticipate this.

I was supposed to fly to Montego Bay July 2nd for my anniversary. Canceled the trip Saturday night. Booked a package deal thru Expedia. Paid 3300 for flights and resort at Rui Reggae. After cancelation fees, I got 1500 back for the resort and 500 from Delta credit for my 2 flights to Jamacia and no refund for my return flights from American Airlines. More than a 1400 loss because of Beryl.

We encountered similar sitch on our way to Jamaica in 2003 Had to keep watch on the hurricane it passed right through montego bay where we were supposed to stay. We were able to avoid and head to Jamaica. Water wasnt as clear and some things were damaged. Still enjoyed ourselves

I always fly to the Carib this tie of year. Flights are cheap and airspace is closed you can just float where ever you land. Take it easy
