As an introvert, spending too much time with a group causes me stress. I must have my alone time.

Excellent content, Adalia! This informative conversation provided me with nuggets of wisdom which will help me navigate the third chapter of my life. Lately, as I inform people that I am an introvert, they are amazed that I made it through several extroverted-type careers…education and the military. Now at age 62, retired, and mentally exhausted, I refuse to participate in anything, anymore, that takes me out of my comfort zone!😅💃🏾

I am an ambivert and my introversion is strong. I am unapologetic about my choice to do what works for me. I went on a group trip. I had my own room and had lots of open time. My least enjoyable time was an organized touristy activity at a bustling hotel an hour away from where we were staying. Between the noise, selfie photo shoots, and the long drive, I was exhausted when we got back. I had to lie down in a darkened room to rebalance my energy. It was a great learning lesson. I will pass on those types of activities next time.

I am an introvert and yes I enjoy being by myself. I don't like being around a bunch of people. I am ok with not being seen. Introverts are very different.

Also a fellow introvert. I don’t mind socializing and I enjoy speaking with people in smaller groups, but I’m most comfortable in quiet spaces, and I am very comfortable being alone. I prefer a smaller group of friends. Going to a loud and crowded place sounds awful and very draining. I definitely get recharged being by myself.

72 introvert here. I just lost my partner. He would have been 80. One person is like a GPS to your life. So I am letting others introverts know if you scale back too much when you are older it can be hard.

I hear you Tess! Sincere condolences on the loss of your partner. I'm a 69 years old introvert and scaled a lot since my retirement. I'm rethinking a bit this strategy by keeping only people who do not drain me and share the same interests as me. Take care.

This truly resonated with me as well. I’m an introvert and for a long time, I kept trying to fit in and would force myself in extrovert spaces trying to please everyone. I made excuses to myself and told myself I needed to be with the extroverts. I would feel so “out of my comfort level”. I’m now in the awareness stage of my life since I turned 50 and when I’m around extroverts I boldly implement my boundaries, and make no excuses about it.

I enjoyed cruising as an introvert because it gave the extroverted travel companion things to do while o recharged alone. I found that the ship was large enough to provide me with the nooks and quiet spaces I needed.

Finally someone who understands me. I don't mind cruises though. I don't find myself engaging with people on cruises if I don't want to so it's all good for me. The only part I don't like are those dinners where you have to sit with people you don't know.

I really appreciated this video as a fellow introvert! I feel validated by this video/comments. I am not weird, standoffish, or mean. Unfortunately, many are bothered (especially in the workplace) that we value who takes up our time and/or energy. I speak when I have something to say. I'm sorry that you (extroverts) have to have people around you 24/7 - no ma'am not me 😊So as you would say, I am going to continue to be "Selectively Social".🙂

I really really appreciate you doing this video, there is so much that I took away from it. It helped me to understand my sister more who is very much an introvert in a family of extroverts. And I love what you said about speaking up when it comes to setting your boundaries cause at the end of the day none of us are mind readers and explaining your boundaries really helps bridge the gap. Great work as always Adalia! 💛

This was a great video with some very useful tips. Communicating your boundaries is key while solo traveling. It works most of the time. I went to Jamaica in January and one of the rent-a-dreds thought he'd make me his sugar momma and wouldn't leave me alone. This happened on my first day and it took a while to get rid of him. The rest of my trip was amazing though. I'm an introvert that likes cruises. You don't have to participate in any of the million activities that they offer. I loved going to enjoy the shows/bands on the ship, people watching during the activities and sitting on the beaches by myself when we docked. I'm going cruising again this fall.

Cruising for introverts works when there is a balcony room involved and an understanding from day 1 that we ARE NOT going to be rolling together all the time.

I'm an introvert, hence my handle anti social socialite. Like you since people wanted to label me as anti social, fine I'll be that. I hate when I'm trying to separate myself from people for some "me" time and they act like something is wrong with ME for wanting some peace and quiet. I also hate when people label me as depressed because I dont want to engage in small talk or dont want to engage in certain activities when they want to. 🙄

I love the idea of traveling solo, within a group. I think safety is of a greater concern to me as I mature. The freedom of not being locked into a group agenda is still appealing but as a single senior, sometimes you are seen as a target by the wrong people. You need for people to know that you are supported and someone has your back.

Cannot do room mates. Love your honesty. I could sit with my Grandmother together and not talk and be comfortable. I refuse to be taken verbal hostage by anyone who talks endlessly. I loved traveling solo and talking to whoever I wanted to talk to, not because I had to.

The best travel experience I tend to have is when I travel solo. I like to adhere to my own schedule and agenda. However, I am open to a group trip depending on who's in the group. 😅 Chile, when asked to go on a group trip, my first question is who's going? Because it can determine whether that trip is going to be a delight or a horror.😂 Tfs

Thank you for another thought provoking video!😊 How as an extrovert how do I support my introvert friends? All so I have to disagree about extroverts aren’t told to tone down, be quiet, I’m doing “to much”. How I as told that as an extrovert the only way I recharge is in crowds or large groups and that is not true. I need quiet time to recharge too just not as much as my introvert friends. Also the idea that extroverts don’t understand how people need quiet time? No, that’s someone that doesn’t know how to read the room, take social ques nor respect others needs and boundaries, that can be an introvert or an extrovert. Just as introverts have needs so do extroverts and we all should respect the boundaries and needs of others.
