Making yourself stay awake that first day was tough no doubt, BUT, you did yourself a big favor in getting turned around from the jet lag sooner. I only made it to about 3pm and just couldn't take another step, which resulted in waking up at 2am, then before 5 the next two mornings. London is my favorite city in the world. Fun fact: "Big Ben" is the actual bell. The tower your seeing where it is housed is called the Elizabeth Tower. One of the things I love most about that city is nearly every building you walk past, no matter how humble, has a story. If it's a more modern looking building it's likely because it was something destroyed during the war so they were actually able to build something new.

Fun fact in Trafalgar Square is Canada house which is home to the Canadian High commission. It functions as an embassy but unlike ones in other countries the one's who have the King as head of state as well don't have embassies and ambassadors to each other because an ambassador represents the head of state. Instead the high commissioner represents the head of the government of the particular countries instead. The idea of a high commission was created by the Canadian government.

Hi, from the UK, and welcome to my home city of London. Lots of history, and things to see, and do. Looks like Mathew has done his homework, he could almost pass for a tour guide😉. I'm sure you have all the sights worked out. If you have the time, you have to visit, St Pauls Cathedral, be careful though, they don't allow photos, and there is a cool tour you can do, that will take you up to the very top, and outside the top of the dome, you actually walk between the two walls, of the inner, and outer dome, about £30. And Nelsons tomb is in the crypt below, which you can visit. Anyway, looking forward to your next installment, enjoy😊

Is the tube wheelchair accessible ? Elevators to platforms?
@SharonatSeaTravel4 ай бұрын
I would have to say no. Not all Tube stations offer lifts/elevators from platform level to street level and if it is a busier time of day, it would be extremely challenging to get into a full subway car. It can be done, but you have to research the stations and if they are accessible. The station near us, Gloucester Station, had about 40 steps before there was access to a lift.
