As someone currently going through the diagnosis process I think you just made me realize my last job caused me to go through a mid-life crisis. I was a Field Service Technician where I was staying in hotels Mon-Thur and I went through extreme lengths to set up my hotel room identically every week. A good week was when I got to stay in the same hotel all week and a bad week was when I had to move more than once. I would sleep all weekend after a bad week and was nor recovered my Monday. All I can remember from that time period is painful stress. Thanks for this one ✌️💯

I always listen to music or podcasts when traveling and it helps a lot. Luckily I’m fine with hotels and don’t usually need to do anything special upon arrival. I do however wish trains would put their handicap accessible seats away from the family seats or at least have wheelchair accessible elsewhere as well. I’m a wheelchair user and if I have to travel by train I don’t get any choice where to sit, and the wheelchair area is of course shared with the prams, and babies and toddlers screaming are among my absolute worst sensory overload triggers. Needless to say, going anywhere by train is pure hell!

I had my vacation in the spring, in April, then in May. Three hotels out of four that I was staying for more that one night, I had specifically told them that I did not want housekeeping to come and they did anyways... that really put me in complete disarray... I have an organized mess, people think that it's a mess, but I know where everything is and its for functionality or another reason. The second trip even more so because I was living with more stress...

This is very good. I like the visual travel guide idea. There are note apps like Evernote, is easy to add photos etc. So that might be an idea. I hadn't thought of those. I travel around the US pretty well but I am going to Europe (the alps) and in panic mode. I think this might be helpful. Also US citizens (and maybe people visiting the US and coming home) there is a program called TSA cares (I know sounds dubious). You call 2-3 days before a trip and go thru a separate line, the staff is trained. You do not have to be visibly affected.

Super helpful! I’m moving from Europe to South America in four weeks and I hope it won’t be too exhausting. I take Citicoline supplements and I think they are working pretty well. We have just sold our house and I feel way better than I expected during this period.

Went on a sort stay with my youngest child ( who has PDA, and doesn’t feel that need routine and following itineraries and if you try and get them to do something at a certain time it’s a disaster ) . Nothing went to plan , and I didn’t get to do what I wanted to and I didn’t have space to deescalate at all. My therapist said I looked so stressed out when I came back , that she recommended I go somewhere by myself.

Dean Winchester from the show Supernatural could've benefited from this because he had a fear of flying and he freaked out on a case that took place on an airplane

I love going to places like Disney and stuff but I honestly I've had so much stuff to my whole life that I honestly don't know if my reaction to things are because of being autistic or not I just you know I'm like I am and I don't understand if it's autistic or just ADHD or what's causing it because to me it's just how I am normally so I've never thought about it

I've even seen people going to the grocery store. But I live in the US, so there's that. But I don't see a problem.
