Awesome Video Kristin, thank you! I have a question, I live in India, where there are lots of Stray dogs. I have a smooth coat border collie, and she goes insane in the car when she sees a dog outside and scratches the glass, also at a traffic light if a beggar comes to the car and taps on the window she goes crazy and starts scratching the window glass and barking. I do take her to the dog park and she is fine with the dogs when outside with them. Do you have any suggestions for calming her down? Thanks!

They now make grate's that go over your car window so if you want to leave your car window open your dog can't jump out! This also comes in handy if you compete with your dog and they don't have indoor crating you can leave your window open to allow air circulation.

Oh boy, yeah my knuckle-headed dog loves to go bye-bye but he just wants to hang out in the car with me so now he knows when i grab my bag that i am going places and proceeds to have a tantrum because he wants to go bye-bye (Dogs don't learn college level studies very well) So now that sad cry of me leaving him is heart breaking now that summer is over and I have returned to my daily trips to college and he can't tag along like before. Though he is good company and rides in the car like a pro, only time he had issues was the day i got him and was stuck in a stop and go traffic jam.

The cover in the very back, how does your dog stay cool? The air condition vent is covered, at least in my car. How does your dog get air from a window? Doesn't seem like this would work in the summer.

My dog Lulu gets car sick she threw up on my favorite pairs of shoes I didnt get mad at her cause it wasnt her fault and for the past few weeks she had diarrhea and she would throw up every once in a while when she is not even in the car and she woudnt eat, after getting very worried we took her to the vet and the vet said she had some kind of disese and they had to put her down I miss her so much 🐶 😭 😭 😭

The 4Knines seat covers look great but they don't ship to Canada. Do you have any other recommendations for hammock style seat covers?

+Andy Sun I've tried a few and they tore apart and didn't protect my seats. I opted to ship to a p.o box and pick it up, well worth the extra effort. If you still can't, try a local pet store and ask them, I haven't tried ALL hammock style seat covers, I'm sure, but I tried the local ones here with no luck.

Hopefully, they will turn out to be durable products, though my dog has immediately gotten into the habit of sitting on the free-hanging section of the hammock... Also, thank you so much for all the work that you do. I just got a standard poodle puppy last year and your channel has been the most reliable resource for his training. It's great to have a trainer like yourself based in the lower mainland.

I am not quite sure what you mean about the 4knines cover when you say "the bucket seat version." It looks like you are just using their rear seat cover with hammock...am I wrong? Their bucket seat version doesn't seem to have a hammock...

A few times I made a filler for my dogs Kong toy and froze it so he could have it to keep him occupied is that ok? He gets very excited in the car and whines (as we call it) until we get to where we are going. I didn't want to do it too much until I got a second opinion

hey do u know how she buckles uo her dogs i dont well im only 13 but i dont buckle them up when I go somehwere i dont have car protecters but i might be getting them because my dad just got a new car and everythink, but back on the subject do u have to have seat belts because my staff is a medium size and i just ant to know also im getting a shitzu ive alrrady met it because its my aunties and she has another shitzu whats i think 5 motnths old maybe younger and she brought this one two days ago but they dont get along the older one hates her so i might be getting it and i know their snuggly and everythink so do i need one for that because ive already met her shes auite snuggly and she loves me so i can have her on my lap is that a option.

+Olivia Holmes This was very confusing to read but I think I know what you mean... It is best to strap your dog in (she uses a doggy seat belt (google it) which can be either a short lead with the seatbelt threaded through, or a short lead with a seatbelt clip on one end and a dog lead clip on the other.) My Staffy is restrained with a dog seat belt and harness (NOT COLLAR) but my corgi never liked this and has always just sat and slept in the footwell part of a passenger seat. Not sure on the safety of this, but I'm fine with it as he doesn't walk around or create a fuss or get in the way. If your staffy wanders about, stands up etc in the car I would advise to get a car restraint of some sort. The Shih Tzu probably too if you get it. Free-roaming dogs can be distracting for the driver, injure others, injure themselves or become a deadly projectile in a car crash.

+Wanshini Gamage Hey! Good questions! 1. There should be a metal clasp in the back where you can attach a leash and body harness to. But in the back you won't worry too much about him flying out the window if you hit something. So a seat belt may not be necessary, try a bar that separates the back space to the back seat so it's a glorified crate instead. 2. Stop the car immediately and try taking back roads so you can slow the car down to decrease the sensation of motion sickness. Then proactively work on increasing distances and speeds while counter conditioning (keeping his mind occupied). 3.They can. Every dog is different. 4. Make sure they go BEFORE they get in. If you're going on a long ride then make pit stops for the dog to stretch his legs and go to the bathroom. Hope this helps!

My dog (he's small.) Get car sickness because he's trying to focus on so many moving things. So when he is in his crate (I'm scared about the cage within a cage thing too) he doesn't have to focus on anything and us able to fall asleep. So My question is; what is an option for dogs that can't focus even when they are high up And able to look out windows that doesn't involve them to be in a crate

+Yahya Skillz Work on very slow steps. Start by getting your dog in the car and getting her comfortable in a stationary vehicle, train her in there with sits and downs, touch, eye contact, tricks...... Then have one person move the car for a few seconds, let your dog regain confidence and move again. Often slow and short rides can build up the dogs tolerance.

You posted this a while ago so you may not remember. My dog also throws up. When we first picked him up, it was a 1 hour and 30 minute drive home, he was relaxed in the car then half way home he started getting restless and threw up. I'm worried to take him too far in case he does it again. Besides that, it's a job and a half just to get him in the car.

My corgi x has always just sat loose in the footwell and fallen asleep. Which I assume is no more/less dangerous than loose on the back seat...? Our young staffy pup doesn't like to do that and he fidgets a lot in the car so we have him on a lead (loop with clip) that you thread the seat belt through and a car harness... Advice?

I'm in Australia and just got a Border Collie and have only just found out if we don't have our dogs buckled in, it's a $400 fine plus 3 points taken off your licence. I never knew this and used to put my other dog in the back all the time and he would roam free. So for anyone in Australia, if you didn't know about this fine, be careful as I had no idea either.
