10 years ago,my now husband played this song for me, we were expecting our first baby, that sadly died shortly after birth. I have not listened to it since until this year. We have now three more little flowers & they are growing just perfectly.

A week after my dad had passed away, I was lying down listening to music. The sun was absolutely shining through the white see through curtains, it was quite something. For a reason unknown to me at the time, this song came in to my head. So I played it and half way through the song, just when the part 'flowers in the window' played.... I looked to my left and realised there were these beautiful white flowers that my mum had put up just after dad had passed....in the window. It was the first time I had cried properly since I was a kid. Now I never listen to this song the same way as ever before. Love you beyond words Dad.

After a time of disappointment and struggle, I bought my own home in June 2002. It was hot and sunny on the day I moved in and the first thing I did was fill the window boxes with flowers when this song came on the radio. The weight of the world lifted from my shoulders and I felt a huge amount of relief and happiness. Thanks Travis.

When I first held you I was cold A melting snowman I was told But there was no-one there to hold before I swore that I would be alone for ever more Wow look at you now Flowers in the window It's such a lovely day And I'm glad you feel the same Cause to stand up, out in the crowd You are one in a million And I love you so Lets watch the flowers grow There is no reason to feel bad But there are many seasons to feel glad, sad, mad It's just a bunch of feelings that we have to hold But I am here to help you with the load Wow look at you now Flowers in the window It's such a lovely day And I'm glad you feel the same Cause to stand up, out in the crowd You are one in a million And I love you so Lets watch the flowers grow So now we're here and now is fine So far away from there and there is time, time, time To plant new seeds and watch them grow So there'll be flowers in the window when we go Wow look at us now Flowers in the window It's such a lovely day And I'm glad you feel the same Cause to stand up, out out in the crowd You are one in a million, And I love you so Lets watch the flowers grow Wow look at you now Flowers in the window Its such a lovely day And I'm glad you feel the same Cause to stand up, out in the crowd You are one in a million And I love you so Let's watch the flowers grow Let's watch the flowers grow

My ex boyfriend used to say this song encapsulates our relationship, especially his perspective. Now in the middle of the night I get to reminiscing and start sobbing like crazy. When we broke up, I had to stop listening to any actual music because every single song would remind me of him. After years of avoidance I completely forgot this song even existed, the feelings all came rushing back. It's insane how powerful music can be.

The song was written long before the release of their second album, The Man Who, and although he is uncredited on the album, it was co-written by Paul McCartney. In an interview for Rate Your Music, Healy claimed, "I met McCartney whilst recording a television programme, and I played him an unfinished track from the new album. He said: 'That's a great little song.' He helped us finish the ending, but we didn't give him a credit on the sleeve."

it's about the lead singer (I think) when his wife became pregnant, he started noticing pregnant women everywhere, that he wouldn't have been aware of otherwise. So the song is both a tribute to his wife, and spending time together with their child, and the fact he's noticing how many pregnant women are all around. Bit weird, but then that's Travis lol. As long as it makes an epic song, I'm not fussed

He had been working on this song for many years, but was never satisfied. If it is indeed about his wife (i can't remember myself) then she obviously supplied the necessary inspiration.
