EPIC!!! brushed motors get HOT with heavy wheels and huge gearing! can't wait to see what happens next i would recommend a arrma kraton 4s v1 motor it's 100$ a bit expensive but it's well worth it barley gets hot at all!!!! any esc will do! a hobby wing would be the best for the job! love the look of your truck!

When you upgrade the motor make sure you add weight to the front end. It will make the truck a lot more stable and over all more controllable. As far as the motor goes try one of the 5900kv brushless amazon deals. There like 50.00 and come with an esc. Make sure to go back to stock gears though.
@RCKnockout2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the tip! I don’t think I’ve ever run a motor with that high of KV…..I’d probably have to gear it even lower than the stock gearing

@713Ace5292 жыл бұрын
Yeah bigger tires look great but is more stress to the motor. Even if you add a vxl you’ve limited with 2S. Bashing it hard with a 3S batt will make it hot and/ or start stripping plastic spur gear, breaking parts. Me personally, I would just enjoy it as it is maybe better bearing and steering links. Good learning video though.
@RCKnockout2 жыл бұрын
Glad you liked it! The power is decent with the brushed system and the high speed gearing but burning up motors is gonna be a constant…..I definitely think going brushless will be a good move to make

Big grippy tires + tall gear = blown motor - bummer man. It’s the reason I am still running the stock gears in my brushed rustler with Stampede 4x4 tires and stampede gearing. I run it 100% off road it gets hot enough as is. I like those tires though.
@RCKnockout2 жыл бұрын
Yeah the gearing combined with the tires was just too much for the motor

Go with a good BRUSHED motor. The traxxes motors are junk. Everyone dose brushless.
@RCKnockout2 жыл бұрын
Yeah but the issue with brushed motors is they just don’t hold up long term…..that’s why going brushless makes the most sense
@mikejohnson-vl6nv2 жыл бұрын
Yes and no. Brushed sealed can motors where u can't change the brushes burn up. You can't really tune them. However brushed motor with turnable end bell, replaceable brushes, replaceable armature are a different story. I have lots of vintage rc motors with 100s of battery's on them and there still good after 35 plus years.
