Bad. Ass. Let this be a lesson for everyone. Doesn't matter what you do, you gotta try and try again until you're happy and satisfied. 230 failures is an accomplishment because you didn't quit. You didn't let the trick defeat you. Your determination won out. Jonny, this will sound corny, but I just turned 32 and I rode a skateboard for the first time in at least a decade for the heck of it. I could still Ollie. After I did that, a handful of kids ran up to me and wanted me to teach them how. One of them popped a legit Ollie. Your videos get me pumped and want to pick up skating again. Thanks!

You can skate, anyone can, it just takes some practice and motivation. I am still very new to skating, but by building my way up and I can now ride off of most curbs, and can sorta-manual if I try really hard. If you can't get the trick down, take a break for a little bit and come back to it later. Some day I feel very confident, some days I feel less, but I still skate for the day. You just gotta do baby steps.

Giger counter 130: the look that says 'hey! quiet in the cheap seats!' A lesson in persistence & a great vid. The best part about hanging in there is once you crack something your average success rate goes up real quick lol- first 200~ tries you were 200~ for 0. At 1,000 times I reckon you'll be at like an 65~% success rate :D

Johnny is so frickin' humble man. The crazy part is not that he stayed with it for 230+ tries, or that he landed it like 5x in a row once he got it. It's the fact that after 20 years of no one else landing the trick on video (I know I can't verify it, but I will take Johnny's word), Johnny Giger set his mind to duplicating a famous Mullen trick and learned it THAT DAY. We all know Rodney is the street God of skating, but I promise you he would probably tell you it took way more than 230 tries when he invented the trick. Johnny really is a beast at learning the craft.

Especially the first part just doing a „normal“ Darkslide just to warm up 😂 People reaction must be funny. I’ve never seen that and I also never make it cause I was never good at skating. Darkslide was always one of my favorite tricks to watch, first I‘ve seen it ( of course Rodney did it in the THPS 2 Intro ) I couldn’t believe it, that this is possible. I was a child, so forgive me my naiv thinking 😂 But how you kill it with the 360 Flip Darkslide, was just amazing. I hope Rodney watch your videos too 👍🏻

I hate to say but he never does tech tricks at speed. They just look sketchy when done at .5 miles per hour. Put a little speed in and smooth it out!

@@palehorse1511 right and Tony Hawk didn't land a 900 on flat ground standing still. Or even moving 5 miles an hour for that matter. Speed and momentum give you a lot of benefits for breathing room while doing the trick

i like the giger counter. just a technicality, but isn't it actually a 360 shove-it darkslide? it just seems weird, that for a kickflip darkslide you have to go 1 1/2 flips, but a tre flip darkslide it's only half a flip. one of the inconsistencies in skateboarding.
