Sounds like the Pitch Logic combined with a Smart Coach would be a good option if you are budget restricted. The Smart Coach readings could offset the velo issues with Pitch Logic, while still giving you accurate movement profiles for pitches. Great video, as usual from Tread.

To be fair, we wouldn't recommend making sweeping changes based off of pitchLogic's movement readings, but you can get a general idea if you're working with efficient pitches!

As a scout I used and loved the Stalker. Now that I'm not scouting (and the gun isn't provided) Pocket Radar Smart Coach is my go to velo reader. Highly trust it.

Great video. Another thing worth mentioning is that the pocket radar needs to be at least 15 to 20 ft from the thrower otherwise it can be really innacurate. I believe the Stalker only needs a minimum of 10 feet. The pocket radar can be difficult to use if you have limited space.

After thousands of pitches within the last two years with the pitch logic ball and pocket radar smart coach… the pitch logic ball is frequently 1-3mph+/- off the pocket radar.

PitchLogic measures the velocity out of the hand, but I believe that the Pocket Radar measures the velocity at the catcher, which would make a difference. I have discovered the same as you.

hawkeye uses 12 cameras around the stadium to track the ball, pretty advanced software to isolate all aspects of the ball movement in flight but with all those cameras you get a ton of data

No, it is not very accurate.

No you are never going to get an accurate true speed with a 100 to 200 dollar Bushnell, That's just the way it is.The Bushnell will clock a car or a large object actually pretty accurate but that doesn't mean it will clock a baseball correctly. The Bushnell guns typically read 4-6 Mph SLOWER! Than a Stalker or pocket radar.Im sorry but why would anyone want a radar gun that short charges your pitcher and makes them look worse than they really are? Please just fork out the money to buy a Stalker or pocket radar then you can be sure your getting near accurate speed readings and not second guessing yourself.

I think the ball coach is better than the smart coach based on price I don’t really see a benefit to the smart coach other than the video option

The app integration basically allows you to make your phone or tablet a velocity board meaning you don't need two people to get readings.

The Smart Coach can be hooked up to tell you the velocity out loud. The video will include the velocity on it, so it could be valuable with recruitment, but it makes video of every pitch, so getting rid of a lot of unnecessary videos is a chore.
