So much fun. Thanks for sharing. Great mix of treasures. In the early 90's I rented Mr. Dolenz cars four times and was proud that he chose me to rent from. He could have rented from the Airport but he would take a shuttle to the hotel my Hertz booth was at and would rent from me to drive to visit his sister. The last time I saw him he gave me an awesome card with a hundred dollar bill in it. He's a kind soul just like you two. Many blessings.

Wow! You and I could be a backup girl band of the Monkees. Definitely my boy band. I went to a band performance in VA with Peter (my favorite), Davy and Mickey in the early 2000's. I bought my tambourine then. Sadly, most have passed away😢

Gail, that vase looks very similar to one my granny had, and I now own. Mine is Parian Ware. Mine is just the bisque color, no blue. Could possibly be Wedgewood. Have you found out what it is?

Love your hair cut, Gail! Bwami doctrine is represented by wood and ivory masks, heads, and small figures, all of which play a vital role during initiation into the society's highest grades. Although simple in form, these carved objects embody complex and multiple meanings, elaborated through proverbs, skits, and dances. In the forests of Democratic Republic of the Congo art is created primarily for semisecret associations of men and women, such as the Bwami society of the Lega peoples. The teachings of Bwami permeate all aspects of life, guiding the moral development of the individual and governing relations with others. Bwami doctrine is represented by wood and ivory masks, heads, and small figures, all of which play a vital role during initiation into the society's highest grades. Although simple in form, these carved objects embody complex and multiple meanings, elaborated through proverbs, skits, and dances. For the Lega, physical beauty and moral excellence are inseparable. The dotted-circle motifs on many Lega works represent body markings, which enhance both the carvings and the characters they depict. The smooth polished surfaces of these sculptures allude to the refined and perfected nature of the Bwami initiate.

About the painting, you can tighten the canvas by wetting a clean broard brush and brushing the back. When it dries it'll tighten the fibres of the fabric and give it back the spring. Depending on the severity of the dent, it can remove it completely. Don't drench it but moisten it. You can repeat the process several times. I've used the wet brush technique on many canvases and my own paintings over the years. Learned the trick at art school. If you don't want to do it yourself, I'm sure there's an art studio or conservationist that would help :) It's a really nice painting. It's a shame it's not on a wall somewhere :) Ps. The carved figurines are beautiful

Ms. Manning, or someone at her auction house should be able to advise you on the African figureens. I know you are not thinking of selling, but they could offer advice. Just a thought. Looking forward to the next episodes on both your channels.

Gail, you worked for the Monkees! My mum used to follow them in the 60’s (I think she preferred Mike Nesmith) and as kids we grew up watching the repeats of the series on TV (we now have them on DVD) we loved them. My mother actually cried on Davy Jones’s shoulder as our car had just been stolen when we attended a panto he was in in the early eighties (it was in Luton). A shame Micky is the only one left alive. I personally would love the drumsticks…. It is amazing what you find when you rummage and memories come back, I did it with my Lego, but your rummage is on another level.

Yes! I am SO excited to you guys in the attic looking at stuff! Love the history and love to see your rooms, derelict or not. You teo are so blessed! ❤ 4:26 The oil painting looks like it’s from the mid 18th century; however, landscape paintings were still very popular through the 19th century, so you should have that one appraised and conserved. It would be beautiful in Alex’s room!

I think there is nothing more interesting than a box full of all sorts of things. Mostly forgotten about. Pow, open them up and treasures from your past and sometimes from your parents past come back to life. Along with memories. I loved looking through your boxes. I absolutely loved your little figure's and felt so sad finding out about the people that made them. Thinking of where they came from. That was disturbing. Traditions and a people destroyed. Heart rending and so tragically sad. On a birghter note, if you manage to restore your loft, I'd be so interested to see what you do with the spaces up there. Though I'm sure you have more important things to do first. Its nice to dream though. Of things in the futcher. ❤ Thanks so much for sharing. Lastly, that candle stick you made at 19 yrs old, was so wonderful to see. Once a crafter/artist, always one. I loved the thought of using a branch from a loved tree. I'm looking at our Victoria plum tree thinking...mmm could i. 😂 xx
