Funny, the Value Village in Newmarket Ontario I have never seen them sell watches by the bag? Either they do and the bag is bought before I see it or they don't do? I see alot of the same watches you are showing but they are selling from $3~$5 separately.

Hi Robert, the Value Village here also sells watches separately, but a little more than $3-$5. The bagged watches are broken, so I guess it's just easier to sell them off as a lot. Newmarket is nice BTW, it used to be part of my old stomping grounds when I was younger. Every Saturday it was the Stouffville flea market then off to Newmarket to the mall.

That square Phasar watch looks very much like my grandmother's Jean Renet watch . The size/shape/clasp and manner of integrating the bracelet are all the same, although my grandmother's watch was plated with something silver looking, and is mechanical. Jean Renet was an in-house brand of Watches of Switzerland, a UK retailer. I wonder if one brand has copied the other, or if they have some common ancestor.

That's very interesting, it is hard to say since brands borrow ideas from other brands or build complete homages. I would say it was Phasar that did the copy or like you mentioned, there may have been a common influence.

Do you actually make your money back of these watch bags? So many are trash.

Yes I do! Considering that a bag costs $10. Once cleaned up and fully serviced I can sell a name brand fashion watch such as Tommy Hilfiger, Nixon, Fossil, for about $20 - $30. Occasionally I come across a vintage piece that can sell up to $250. - $300. That happens more often than you think especially when it is an estate clean up and everything goes to donation. Remember, the back room sorters at major resell stores such as Value Village don't know a thing about what is expensive or trash. They are told that if it is not working it is "Broken", which isn't always the case. So, again yes I definitely get my money back and I haven't even covered parts.

That's good, I thought you might lose money on some of these. Have a good one.
