The fact that I have identified what’s wrong with me is even more hopeless now that I could not possibly find or even seek such help knowing now that there is no cure.after watching this I am more alone than ever.I wouldn’t take my own life for it would hurt my children too much.but I just wish I would be out of this pain of terrifying introverted loneliness

Honestly, all of us with BPD who are still trying and pushing on are unbelievably brave and strong. The feeling of hopelessness and giving up visits us every day, the deep sickening depression, the frantic stress, and disorienting dissociation - all sometimes for seemingly no discernible reason, or as a result of something YOU KNOW is “silly” but you can’t control your emotional reaction. If other people experience what I do, every day just as I do, but they still get up and try, try, try to beat this fucking beast….. man, all of you are incredible human beings. Imagine not having BPD and how EASY life would be, I feel like I would breeze through anything. If “normal” stress is even half of what I experience, man neurotypical people have it so easy. And yeah sorry to sound passive aggressive, but I’m having a real bad day of an ongoing BPD episode of severe depression/stress. I guess I’d just give anything to not have to fight every day, but unfortunately this is the card I’ve been dealt. I’ll just have to keep trudging on till my legs give out.

It is difficult to treat due to the inherent cognitive structuring. It is difficult for 'the therapist' due to those intensities Your insight with structuring these modalities is beyond brilliant. I hope other clinicians will seek your wisdom.

Cognitive behavioural therapy helps as it helps you to reform your distorted thinking patterns but if you have bdp and complex trauma like me you will still suffers from fits of rage and emptiness been in therapy 5 yrs! Love your channel Dr grande ❤ 👏

I am currently undergoing Dynamic Deconstructive Psychotherapy for BPD. So far as I can tell, it checks all the boxes mentioned in the study you discuss.

I think it's so important that the therapist understands about splitting and the way they become what I think is referred to as a 'bad object' like the abusive parent in the BPD's childhood. I had a retraumatising experience as a BPD in that I thought I was establishing a trusting relationship and the therapist knew what they were doing but he made me feel all the more ashamed and misunderstood as I don't think he had worked with BPD. There is a danger that traditional talk thetapy can do more harm than good even when the therapist is well intentioned because I think the treatment of deep trauma, attachment trauma developmental trauma which are linked to BPD is really quite different and needs to be carefully worked with. Dr Grande what do you think of IFS for trauma and BPD and just as a modality? And Somatic Experiencing? Both of these seem to address the actual deep trauma that we have experienced as BPDs. Maybe you could do a review on them but I guess they are new trauma therapies so not much research on them yet?

That isn't true. Heard of therapist and KZbinr Katie mourten? (I'm bad at spelling. Sorry) She has said that after 10 years of therapy, around half of people no longer have it! People shouldn't fear treatment or avoid it. It can be really helpful.

Actually DBT has been proven to work on BPD, far better than any other treatment which is why insurance will cover DBT treatment for suicidal patients, etc, and not psychodynamic therapy or other methods that failed in clinical trials to show strong results. This video is incorrect saying all treatments are the same for BPD, they aren't - and DBT was specifically designed for the worst of the worst BPD patients (and now expanded into many other disorders because of it's effectiveness.) Perhaps a video update is in order?

Inability to manage behavior, function normally, feeling and emotions all over the place, inappropriate anger, absence from reality and so on is a tall order for any therapist. The ray of hope is that BPD gets better with aging. The biggest fact to me is that the therapist must be intentional when using strategies to treat it.
@chloebyerly48895 жыл бұрын
I’m not sure how a psychiatric professional that has been around in the last 5-10 years and feels that they have enough knowledge on BPD to make a video on treatment strategies thinks that their is no specific talk therapy that benefits people with BPD more than another. TONS of studies have shown that DBT therapy is the best for BPD. It was basically created for BPD.

Yeah, we don't often think about the poor therapists. Those cluster B problems must be very difficult to deal with, compared to the other clusters.

I agree with the therapeutic alliance... disagree that there is not one practice that works better, the "mindfulness practice"... seems to really work. and it has the greatest success to that ... mindfulness cultivates emotional awareness. Meditation does too. My mother is classic BPD,... I am not , nror will be her therapist, always have healthy boundaries in place.

Could you explain the difference between intrusive thoughts, paranoia and OCD?
@iliketoyeetityeetit93825 жыл бұрын
I dont know the first one but paranoia could be suspecting other people for doing scetch things shit talkin you and those types of things. Paranoia could also be like feeling that someone is watching or following you. Ocd is more like a obsession of must having things in perfect order. So if someone with ocd had 3 different citchen knives meat knife (largest) vegetable knife (middle) and a small knife, they could not resist not putting the knives from smallest to largest and perfectly aligned. If you didnt understand sometjing you can tell me. I hope this helps

I feel the same. One thing (of many) I will never understand is how can people be so cold and/or aggressive towards someone who is sick. Noone wants to be sick. Noone wants to have BPD. It happens to me on a regular basis that if I cry, I will get yelled at eventhough I am not trying to offend with my crying, what can I do when tears roll down my face and my chest starts hurting? But people threat you as if you are a bad person... it is a very, very sad world...
