Splendid summary. Very clear. I am reading Young's book now and I think that you have covered the gist of it. So thank you!

Ref: "Early maladaptive schemas develop starting during childhood". Childhood comprises a series of important developmental stages. Have you correlated types of maladaptive schemas to developmental stages during which the most serious abuse or abandonment occurred? This should be significant. Problems at age 2-3 during which individuation and boundary setting start should result in different types of behaviors than for those whose problems did not arise until say age 7-10.

It may be that comparing degrees of effectiveness of different specific therapies is akin to comparing different shapes of drinking vessels, while what the patient needs is "healing water" that should be contained in those vessels. And perhaps it is such qualities of a clinician as emotional attunement, compassion, desire to help, courage, etc. that are that healing water? On the other hand, in a rain one can be soaking wet and yet, without a drinking vessel of some kind, remain thirsty.

My first introduction to ST was in a book covering DBT, ACT and ST. At that time I was mainly hyped by mindfulness and frankly pretty confused about the basic concepts of ST. What I really liked was the idea of limited reparenting and long-term focus of the therapy (in contrast with the CBT). I was able to grasp the shemata and coping styles after reading Young's self-help book. I think that the best way to understand the modes is to look at them from the extreme point of view of a person with dissociative identity disorder. Then, as partially and independently acting entities that stemmed from some early experiences, they start to make more sense. Oh, and I also like the idea that all of these concepts happen on the scale... :)

I came to this video expecting to find clarity and information about schema therapy that I could understand I understand DBT better than I understand schema therapy you didn’t really clarify anything in here other than doing the clinical psychiatric psychologist view but not break it down to an understanding level for anyone in the Layman area of people could you please re-find your explanations into layman terms and compare to the effectiveness of DBT therapy and ID I don’t think you can because I know DBT does focus on the Zen approach of being in the now and working through the different emotions in a way that is effective scheme of therapy is not as clear to me it is confusing and it is very impossible to understand so before I start schema therapy with my therapist I am going to encourage the clinic that I go to to start doing DVT because I’m not sure I’m gonna be able to do scheme of terribly affectively

I think its incredibly hard to ingest and hence respond to this as it lacks any punctuation.

What's wrong with this comment? It looks like a terribly naive attempt to market DBT in spite of SFT. Sincerely, who is behind this, guys? Or am I being paranoid?
