If you have to ask why tinnitus is a problem, you need only crank up an audio amplifier connected to some loud speakers and then reproduce a 15000 hz sound all day every day at high volume. You can still communicate with others while it is happening, but it requires you to focus and concentrate on every sound outside of the tinnitus frequency to figure out what is being said. It makes sleeping almost impossible and it that affects your every day. I drink lots of beer or wine to push me over the top and sleep. I also put ear buds on and listen to something from the internet to distract me when sleeping. I have yet to see anything that does more than mask the incessant noise always blasting away in my ears. If you don't know, trust me, you don't want to know.

I would be more encouraged to hear about success stories on cases where someone had a year to several years severe tinnitus or reactive tinnitus & hyperacusis due to acoustic trauma either from one bad event or collectively from many years of being exposed to loud noise which also revealed on testing high frequency hearing loss, not due to age however.

I had tinniness from acoustic trauma for a year and it went away 100% for two-three years. The other day I was on social media and someone thought it would be a good idea to post high pitch sound waves to "test your hearing age" and I got tinnitus again! This time around, I know it will go away with time (hopefully).

@@madpiper1277 I didn't do anything. The T and H started during a period of high stress and over the course of about 3 years, my stress level lowered, and the hyperacusis went almost completely away, along with about 98% of the tinnitus. Unfortunately, I went through a period of stress during the covid lockdown and at the same time was exposed to sudden, high-pitched noise which brought the hyperacusis and tinnitus back. So I'm dealing with it all over again, but I am slowly getting better. Slowly! I'm not entirely sure, but I think that high dose CBD oil has been lowering my hyperacusis. I just started it, so time will tell. 50 mg or more, three or four times a day.

I think it's great that you give people hope. Thank you. I so related to your first case study. I begn to have tinnitus in my left ear after having my 2nd covid vaccination. I rated the noise 7/10 on the bad volume moments. I read that zinc can help with decreasing inflammatory responses, so took a supplement that night, woke up with the tinnitus at a noise level of about 2/10. Now I take zinc every day and it sits at about 1-3/10 when I think about it. Most of the time I forget that it's there. This may not work with everyone, but it has worked for me.

I've suffered with this most of my life only to come to realize that I am allergic to my pets around the time of being diagnosed with eustacian tube disfunction. Dr Ben I live in Jamaica and I developed tinnitus after several ear infections and stupidly I went on youtube and played a hearing test video (just to see if I had any loss of hearing) and a high piercing sound came out and damaged my ear. I've had this since the beginning of 2018 and it's been hell on earth. When I think about how I got it I get so upset that I did this to myself. I find myself looking up tinnitus cure and researching the clinical trials that are taking place. I am in my mid twenties and had it since my last year in university. I really hope there is a medication that can actually cure it. It's not fun living with a condition that robs you of your sanity.

I had the same thing happen, you’re the first person I have read that legit had the same thing with the hearing test online. I was having some pressure in my ears, and things just sounded off, so I was curious went on google and found about 3 tests and did them all with earbuds, next thing you know I had tinnitus and it’s been here for almost 2 weeks now. Dr is trying to put me on the meneires category since I have a high pitch loss in the left ear, it’s too weird that it happened right after the tests I did.

Good Morning Dr. Ben from Canada. I have developed severe tinnitus mostly in my left ear but sometime it's in my whole head. It is a very high pitched squeeling where I think I am going to loose my mind. If effect my everyday life. I am on the verge of tears most of the time. I have had some hearing loss in my left ear and also fell pretty hard on some ice really whacking my head. Although I didn't have a concussion and think the tinnitus is the result of my fall plus I have vertigo off and on. I feel like I am going to loose my mind. I sleep with a headband with speakers in it but it was so loud last night that even that didn't help. Listening to your video's does give me hope. I have never meditated before so will have to try that. Right now it is so bad!!! I can't imagine living with this.

I am discovering my tinnitus is hugely connected with my sleep. If i have a good solid 6 hours of sleep my ears are quite. If i wake up i can't go back to sleep because i get a spike. Reiki, meditation has helped a lot. Mindset of not letting this noise take over your life helps. Its been an 8 month long journey to get here and still working on it.

I have been doing PhD research study for the past 4 years, primarily from NIH.GOV. My research consist of consolidation of articles, the most common denomonator that I could find was the dysfunction of the N-Methl-D-Aspartate-Receptor (NMDAr), this receptor is responsible for Glutamate transmission, a transporter system, this system is a fine tune calibration of how the nerves function, the NMDA receptor belongs to the family of 7 trans-membrane receptors, there are 7 layers of proteins called ligand gated proteins, these proteins have bio-mechanical valves that open and close like little drawbridges that allow certain amount of Glutamate when opened when Calcium ions bind to the NMDA to activate them open, the problems is when they become damaged they are suppose to be "normally closed" but when activated by calcium the stay wide open then we get this perception of high pitch ringing, we have a calcium influx and Glutamate influx, these two chemicals have a positive electrical charge, so it's like the brain is firing away and the brakes are blown on these receptors. How do we correct this, or approach a way to restore some calibration, slow transmission, or inhibit the process, well there is a solution, a solution that has little validity and is never discussed by neurologist nor GP, specialist, non existent in the medical community to address these disorders, the are called Antagonist Inhibitors. Antagonst Inhibitors cross the BBB, bind to the over active NMDA, and voltage gated dependant channels, creating a blocking mechanism, basically clogging the pore/channel and slowing this overactive transmission process, the problem is these Antagonist Inhibitors are Illegal, because they know they work, and do have some effect of relief. The primary business is Hearing Aids sales, however masking the noise is just a expensive band-aid, that does not address the root cause of the symptom, you just amplifiy sound to mask Tinnitus. There is another plausable soluton, a micro-osmitic water pump, the idea is to create Ionic homeostasis, this raises the water in the hearing to dilute excessive Glutamate, pH level, and other ionic chemicals such as the Perilymph and Endolyph, (Potassium ions K+,Sodium ions NA+), the research was proven to be very effective, however no funding was in place to get any implantable device approved by FDA, U.S. standard, simply the experiment was conducted, proved effective, then case closed. There are treatmenst that have been discoverd, tested, proven to be effective but once proven swept under the rug and forgotten or just dissmissed all together, maybe there was no lucerative business, or interest. Tinnitus is nerve damage, and has lost its ability to supply and Equilibrium balance (Ionic Homeostasis), we cannot go into and repair and heal the nerve function, but we can balance it, normally our vestibular system uses Aquaporin (AQP1) this is water, simply to balance the process of transmission of these chemicals in our hearing, when chemicals become over concentrated, it seems be be re-absorbed in the nerves and we get this over stimulated response, the perception of a sound called Tinnitus. My honest opinion, from my many many hours of research and reading, the facts, the means, and methods that have been proven, the business society (Hearing Aid Companies) do not want any treatment, cures or remedies, Western Medince yes, drugs, ect, yes, devices yes, but holistic healing NO, if there is any way, the protocol is a Hearing Aid, like a universal one fit all band-aid. We live in a controlled society, which is governed by large corporations, their interest is keeping the drugs as treatment ,and devices to sell the sufferer, but never get down to the root cause of the problem. The bottom line, there is no interest in genuinely healing a person with this conditon, the interest is making profits, and you keep coming back for more drugs like anti-depressants or devices. There will never be a change unless we change the system and how it is run. I have been suffering from Tinnitus, Hyperacusis, Sudden Sensorienural hearing loss (SSNHL) since 2007. I think everyone can have something to contribute in a meaningful way, we all (us sufferers) would have to band together world wide in order to make a deep impact of change. Reply

I've had left ear tinnitus (medium pitched tone) since October 2020 after a weekend of loud noise exposure. Over the years, I did go a little nuts with headphones. My right ear feels nice and hollow, but my left ear feels like there's some pressure and blockage in addition to the tone. I also have sound sensitivity. My ENT said there's an 85% chance it will go away within 6 months - he didn't really do any tests. It's been 9 months and I still have it. My audiologist reported no hearing loss and no damage to the middle ear. I don't get dizzy or vertigo. At night when it's quiet, I get an additional high pitched cicada-like sound that sounds like it's coming from both ears but it's hard to say - this doesn't bother me that much. I haven't had an MRI because my ENT and GP said it's not necessary, but now I'm starting to think otherwise. I can kind of change the severity of the tone by inserting my finger into the ear and using my other hand to wiggle my ear around. Could it be cancer? Infection? Fluid build up? I've had my ears cleared of wax. Although I started noticing this two days after my loud noise exposure in October, I'm starting to think that the timing of it could have just been a coincidence. I had a negative Covid test yesterday. I'm thinking of trying an ear popper, sinus rinse, and ear candling. What do you think Dr Thompson? Regards, Nicholas

My Tinnitus started about 2 days after the first Pfizer vaccine. Over the course of about a month it was an 11/10. And for about 3 months it was pure hell. Single ear just yelling at 11/10. Over the course of the past year or so, it has subsided significantly. I'd say most days now it is 3/10 hissing noise. Sometimes more sometimes less. It hasn't unfortunately gone away completely. I have decided to try a lot of things you recommend in your videos to see if I can help with the distress it causes as well as maybe having it completely out of my life.

The second case study really resonates with me. Ive had tinnitus for 7 months, and all of a sudden just got sooo much worse this weekend and wayy more reactive. Pretty much 50 percent of all sounds affect it to a ridiculous degree. I have hearing loss from a long term treatment of anti biotics, high pitched hearing loss. I was coping well before with hearing aids, but now...its literally suicidal. Im completely panicking and bawling crying multiple times a day. Its so reactive now. 0 percent chance i can live like this forever. I guess i have to start meditating or whatever, FML.

It is caused by neuroinflammation, in my case apparently a tooth with a bad root canal, I removed it a month ago, I did not try the repair or root canal, this caused me a severity of tinnitus of 7 or 8 out of 10, almost 3 years, without being able to work After the extraction of the tooth it decreases day by day and even my hearing has begun to improve greatly. I have a diet based on meat and eggs and no bread, few vegetables, I forgot the doctor who treated me, he also told me that the vaccine was a risk of getting worse

Then while I was listening during my online class the ringing started and I cant focus. But if I hear noises for few hours, sometimes the ringing will comeback less than an hour

It is not true, there are people who have had tinnitus for months, even years and they got rid of it. It's finding the cause and if you get to the root of the problem it will go away. Some people it's their diet and some its a pinched nerve in the neck, try everything that it could be and it will vanish. And never have self doubt cause if you don't believe it can go away then it won't. The mind is a powerful thing. Good luck.

my problem is that the hyperakusis and tinnitus are always at the same time and support each other, when i try to relax and wear hearing protection to sleep or even stay sane and keep away from stress the tinnitus is always so loud that i need to listen to loud music to oversample it. but that makes it louder because of consisten hearing loss. And every little sound hurts in my ears like a knife stabbing my inner ear because of the hyperakusis. iam only 19 and its hard to not have suicidal tendencies because its not really getting better after almost 3 years now... i had the ringing since childhood but always pretty quiet. and since then i listened to a lot of loud music and had big hearing loss at least subjectively. but the doctors couldnt find anything. so now i cant go to parties or crowded invironmnets and i am a fulltime drummer and guitarist so my dreams of my favorite thing in life is pretty much grounded and i am clueless what to do next... the doctos wanted to give me tavor benozodiazepines but i refused because i have frineds who complitely ruined their live with benzo addicition and its especially dangerous for unstable people

Thank you..I was put on Atorvastatin in Feb 2020. A week in, my head had extreme pressure and I got tinnitus in both ears. Yes, the screeching bothered me. I was terrified and eventually found out that this would not affect my brain. I then found I was able to tolerate the noise better knowing this. It is still loud and I would just love to have silence. I am now off statins because I was having other major problems with it but they told me the tinnitus would never go away. I don’t seem to have hearing loss and I sleep well. I also have a processing disorder. Is the tinnitus making it worse?

My tinnitus started 2 weeks ago. I was told to put olive oil in my ear to get rid of some deep stubborn ear wax. I put it in a couple of days and on the third day I put too much and felt it drop deep into my ear and the tinnitus and fullness in my ear started. The next day I had micro suction at the hospital to try to get rid of the last deep bit of wax in my right head. She was really hurting me and eventually got it out. She did the left for a bit too which I wasn't happy about as I was told it was gone but she only did it for a few seconds. The fullness went but the tinnitus stayed. I seem to have it in stereo for both ears so now wonder if it's the micro suction that's damaged the nerves in my ear. I am on tinnitus Facebook page and there's a lot of them that got it after micro suction for ear wax. Is this common? I am really struggling even though it's only been 2 weeks. I can hear it all the time, above the TV, driving, radio, even on walks now. I don't know how I can have a life like this.

But first of all my advise is dont use cotton ear wax removers at home because both time after used it and tinnitus started. Also may be after covishield took. @@atashakgem I can relate with you. I've suffered from ETD most all of my life without realizing what it was or what was causing it until a year and half ago. It just dawned on me what the cause was for myself. That was through a period of noticing a difference from when I vacuumed my bedroom to the following days until I vacuumed again. I realized my congestion was lessened at night going to bed after vacuuming earlier that day, I eventually made that connection. I always thought I was fortunate to not have any allergies but realizing that was not the case. Long story short, a year and a half ago, my eustacian tubes were so blocked, I became completely deaf in my right ear. And I could only hear out of my left ear a little bit. I made an appointment with an ENT specialist who diagnosed my ETD. The cause of it that I accidently discovered was allergies to my pets who always slept in my bedroom. There was never a time in my life where I didn't live with pets except the one year being away at "college" in 85/86. Too long ago to recall back if I suffered less. I didn't get any ear infections during that school year, I know that. Growing up and throughout my adult life, I have always suffered with recurring ear infections clearly caused from ETD. I suffer with tinnitus and hearing loss as a result. I can only control my ETD by keeping my pets out of my bedroom, I sleep much better without congestion, drainage and constant coughing now. And flonase and sudafed the doctor told me to use daily for the rest of my life. I use them on occasion, not daily. Initially he put me on prednisone too. The combination of the three medicines cleared my congestion and restored my hearing better than it ever was before but short lived of course, though I hear the same as my normal. I've learned to live with tinnitus but would love to rid myself of that.

I have developed Tinnitus in my left ear and my hearing is reduced after I took the second dose of my Covid 19 vaccine specifically Astrazeneca. I also injected the vaccine into my left arm. Is there any connection between the vaccine I took and my tinnitus?
