Something to note about the 2 Excavators, the smaller only is only a Processor head, not a cutting head, so it cannot cut down the tree, but is for processing and cutting to length only.

I stopped doing forrestry all together as every single time i tried to use one, the tree trunk would embed itself in the ground and as the harvester tool was sliding/cutting, it would just slide up the trunk and flip my harvestor on its back like a turtle.

You have to let the tree fall before trying to de limb it. Once it's horizontal you wont have that problem.

@chrisjones6002 I have had the tops of the scotch pine glitch into the ground a fair bit on the frontier map .doesn't matter how I drop it,just does it when it feels like it .I usually just cut the top off then use the stump grinder on the bit stuck in the ground
@chrisjones600216 күн бұрын
@@RideFree317 I've had that happen on Frontier too. I just cut the top as close to the ground as possible and the rest just falls into the ground. So far the top seem to disappear.
@RideFree31716 күн бұрын
@chrisjones6002 Yes, I've seen the top just disappear after cutting it close to the ground. It's sometimes annoying but can deal with it

Next to our sawmill, we do large placeable trees. Like $2k a tree but around 22k liters so it pays for itself.

got a question unrelated to this video do you currently have a video out on how to get rid of the patches of ground that wont grow crops? i have several large patches on my land where nothing will grow even after i plow it roll it cultivate it just stops growing in those spots any known fix or anything i might of missed to fix the issue?
@chrisjones600217 күн бұрын
I was really hoping the JD buncher could cut more trees. Specifically the oak trees since they grow so fast and give you a ton of wood in a sawmill you own. Since it can't I don't see any point in owing that one.

I have really enjoyed your videos, but it looks like it is time to retire from farming. I have 177 hours into Riverbend Springs. I have played with 4-day months. I am just coming out of my first winter and noticed that other farmers have had their grass regrow, but for some reason, mine is not coming back. Kind of discouraging and I have two other hobbies that could fill my time more productively. Thanks again for all your hard work.

sorry to hear about your problems. Did you use the grass roller on the fields? I did this early on in FS25 and had a similar problem. Fertilizing the fields solved it for me.
@jimjasutis504616 күн бұрын
@@Gili42-MartinF Yes, I think it must have been the grass roller. Ultimately, I decided I have enough time in restoring that museum that I will have to at least finish that. As you suggested, I will go back to fertilizing my grass fields. I have ended up missing a harvest or two, but it isn't going to be that big a deal. The funny thing is, I went and cultivated that dead grass but it hasn't shown up on the map as being cultivated, but I tried passing time and replanting and it looks like it will be back to normal.

Question did you also Test how many liters of wood and woodchips every tree gives?
@RideFree31717 күн бұрын
Fairly sure he already has a video with all the tree volumes produced. In short, drag an oak tree to your production sawmil for 21,000 liters and chip lodge pole pine as they are easy to handle or sell for wood if you want

The one thing I need is how many letters of wood divided by the number of month to grow. Since I am feeding my saw mill not selling the wood plain.

@JB-bs9rj17 күн бұрын
I would love to know how much volume each tree gets you for an owned sawmill.
@chrisjones600217 күн бұрын
The Oak is the best by far. It gives like 20k liters and grows quickly. the downside is you have to cut it by hand. I planted a field of oak and once they grow I will build a sawmill on the same property. That way I should be able to cut them down and drag them to the mill with the winch without cutting the limbs off. The best one for a forestry harvester is the lodge pole, it gives around 5k liters IIRC and still grows somewhat quickly.
