Very cool work. First of this series I've seen. Love the original TV series, as opposed to the new one. I absolutely LOVE the landing bays. Looks so realistic. Well done!

Hi from England. Just like to say how much I love your videos. Following a near 40 year break from models, I've watched most of your vids and they have inspired me to "up my game" from when I built the original BSG kits back in the 70s. Cheers and please don't stop putting out quality content

Still one of my favorite ships. You're making it look amazing already. I agree, this kit is far better than the old one.
@TrekWorks3 жыл бұрын
This kit is much improved over the old Monogram. It's a lot more detailed and fits together a lot better.

@@TrekWorks I totally agree! 😁

I had that model back when the original Battlestar Galactica was on the air - or around that time. This was before the days of the internet and before LEDs were a real option for lighting. I took apart one of those Christmas candles you stick in the window and put it inside. It ran off 120V AC but the bulb was low wattage enough that it didn't melt the model but it did make it warm. For windows I drilled random holes in the ship. Again, there was no internet so no way to research the proper window placement. For light blocking, my teenage mind never considered painting it black. Instead I lined the entire inside with aluminum foil and punched holes back through the drilled out windows. Wish I still had that model. Hopefully Moebius releases them again. I'd love another chance to do it right.

We did the best we could with what we had back then. I hope they release this kit again too. It's getting hard to find.

Still one of my favorite model designs and one of the iconic ships of film and TV. It was such a well-designed, unique ship for its time. And it was designed by Ralph McQuarrie, the lead concept artist for the original Star Wars trilogy. I vastly prefer the original Galactica designs over the reimagined Sci Fi Channel series. I didn't care for Ronald Moore's version at all. As far as model builds are concerned (the original shooting miniature), it might be my favorite after the Matt Jefferies Enterprise designs (both the original and Phase II/Refit versions).

TBH, I think the flashing lights animate the model a bit more but I feel as if they flash almost TOO fast. Maybe that's just my perspective. I do think they add something to it. We're all so used to animated lighting on models that having them be solid light all the time and not blinking is weird until you look up in the sky at night and see jet and low-flying aircraft lights blinking all the time. I think for naval vessels (warships), they may not used animated lighting (flashing, blinking) for wartime and stealth purposes. Non-stealth planes still have lights but I don't what operating procedure is for navigating/turn lights but they definitely have directional lights.

I forgot to ask could you show how you Paint over the Raytheon Lighting I'm Building a 1/350 Scale Refit Enterprise Model and I've installed Raytheon Lighting Box's and I have a Masking Set but I'd like to see how I can Paint Over those areas and still make them look like think you could do that Boyd ?
@TrekWorks3 жыл бұрын
I just lightly shadow around the edges with an airbrush using some black paint and that gives the fading light at the edges instead of a hard line. Then just paint over it with the hull color making sure to just lightly mist over the lighted spot.

I'm kind of new to modeling. So don't beat me up too bad. After sealing everything up how do you avoid overspray on the fiber optics during the painting process.
@TrekWorks2 жыл бұрын
You leave a little extra fiber sticking out and then clip it off after you are done painting.

I think you you should have added 4 more Strobes on the top and bottom of Landing Bays Front and Rear because on a Spaceship that Big which to me anyway is Basically a Aircraft Carrer / Battleship in space there would be Navigational Strobe Lights wherever you would put them.
