🖖😎👍Very cool and very nicely well done and very well executed and informatively explained in every detail way shape and form on the subject matter at hand guys on the Klingon D-6 from Axanar, And I myself find it to be very cool and great design and see it fitting perfectly well in the Klingon fleet with all of the other Klingon vessels indeed!,👌.

It's nice to see Star Trek in the hands not only of fans (for once), but intelligent fans at that, who understand the tech of warfare.

I really like the "Prelude To Axanar" Klingon D6 battlecruiser, also called the D6 "Devastator" class.

It's always good to hear the thought processes that go into incorporating designs into a new series or take on classic material. I still own a lot of the FASA books as well as SFB and Federation Commander. Maybe we'll see a NCA or War Destroyer type ship sometime down the road. Keep up the great work guys!

It is always so great when you have guests and Alec Peters is always a great guy to have when it comes to discussing trek. And I always feel like a 20 minute video could never be enough to cover everything. He could go on and on talking about all those details and the background information and their thought processes in Axanar, it is simply amazing! Hopefully, both trekyards and axanar can benefit from this collaboration. I am sure there might be many Axanar fans out there, that don't know about Trekyards yet and would gladly watch this series and likewise some trekyards fans that maybe did not go to axanar already. In any case, I absolutly admire the work the people behind axanar put into these ship designs, not only alec peters himself but also the many many people he gathered for this project. His view of the Star Trek franchise as an actual multiverse really is a good example of how one could connect all the different things done for star trek over the years. On that note, it was awesome to see the D6 covered here and I can't wait for Part 2 of this axanar special, as well as seeing the klingon D6 in the axanar feature film and maybe, hopefully, even future Star Trek Projects of Ares Studios. And of course, I can't wait for the next trekyards episode. It was a good time having 2 of my absolutly favorite captains together in one video (and the commander of course.)

Me too. I Actually like it better than bothe the D5 and D7 battlecruiser's. It's Number #1 on my top favorite FASA Star Trek ship designs.

just a heads up, the German "Stuka" image presented is not a Stuka. I'm not sure what it is, but the JU-87 Stuka was a propeller driven mono-planed dive bomber.

UI see no problem with the D6 as used in the SFB universe, and it would make a good ship for interior and second line work after it was phased out of front line service,

All this talk of what part of the federation supplies what just makes me think about what nations send up to help the cause. I have this feeling that the UK will be like 'Well, we have a lot of red cloth, let's make some shirts!'.

I have toubles with FASA too. Not the same, but they rhyme. I like his multi-verse idea. And in a practical sense, it's true. And there really is a lot of richness. I would point out that not only does technology advance quickly, but it advances more quickly for whoever's loosing (if they have the ability to invest) and the Federation was loosing at the beginning of the tale. Earth is also supplying people. There's a reason why so many of those ships have Earth reaferences in the names. Humans are willing to send their people into harm's way. Not that other member worlds aren't doing the same thing, it's just we spend most of our time with the humans and maybe we're more agressive in colonization so we have more people to send. And LCARS. The LCARS are key. I've made my uncoordinated theories before about wepons and necells in the past.

Just a quick note: Not sure about that Luftwaffe concept plane, but it wasn't a Stuka. This is the Stuka that was being discussed: www.warbirdphotographs.com/LCBW/Ju87B2Trop-StG3-(S1+HK)-Derna-Libya1941-30.jpg

in reference to the difference in length of the D6, in real life, in the 1950s the USS Wisconsin had her bow replaced with that from the uncompleted Kentucky to repair damage to the Wisconsin. the resulting repair made the Wisconsin longer that her sister Iowa class battleships. IF the Klingons liked the 'improved' ship, they could refit them as battle damage is made.

Love it that the Klingon Battlecruiser survived from STMP to deep into DSNs run. I can't subscribe to the theory that a good starship should have to be retired after twenty years. They aren't like sea bound ships. They are spaceships, they don't rust and collect barnacles. It's a shame we've never seen the constitution class after the undiscovered country, and yet the excelsior and reliant types continued on throughout. What bugged me about the series STNG and DSN was Klingon battlecruisers with bird of prey bridges designs instead of their resembling the one seen in STMP. A little constancy, folks. Although, they do put the captain in a vulnerable position since assassinating ones captain is a common Klingon tradition.

@6:55 Aside from the progress of technology in war there's another pretty good reason the ship from the end of WWII looks radically different from the example from the beginning.... The ship shown at 6:55 is British, not American.

There was some talk of working with Ad Astra Game's Squadron Strike -- an SFB-esque tabletop game that is both more complex and more streamlined, that models actual 3D combat in a managable way -- for official Axanar designs. I actually playtested some of them, years ago. CBS's dropping the hammer on Alec pretty much ended that, as far as I know.

FYI...The U.S.S. PATTON (Marshall class) was ambushed by the ROMULANS in the Tri-Beta sector while advancing on the Rigel star system. That was the start of the ROMULAN war, 2106. Star Trek spaceflight chronology 1980.

Hey Capt. Foley, I found your channel literally a week ago and I love what you guys are doing! Is there any chance you guys can do a review of the Daedalus class? I know it never appeared on screen but in the background lore (including the Romulan Wars and Rise of the Federation series of books for Enterprise) it features heavily.

Hello. My name is James but my friends usually call me Jamie. I prefer to be called Jamie. It suits me better. Question: Why would you need a glue together kit of this iconic FASA design Klingon ship when you can build it literally out of LEGOs? I have already made this awesome "Prelude To Axanar" Klingon D-6 battlecruiser out of LEGO's using LEGO "Star Wars" pieces. It was a bit challenging to build without instructions by using pictures on Google Images of this already popular Klingon ship. I absolutely love it's design. My Dad also likes it too.

@@jamieolberding7731 Not everyone has a crapload of Legos to use to build something like this. A model kit doesn’t require having large numbers of extraneous Legos and some people already have the tools to build models.

It makes me wonder if the producers and writers of the canon films ever had these kind of discussions among themselves, and did the research to be consistent. I doubt, as hired guns, they had a tiny fraction of the innate knowledge of Trek history.
