Just got mine as a Christmas gift from my beautiful wife. I happen to be home when it was delivered by Amazon. My wife paid about $302 dollars plus tax..lol. I didn’t think it would come down that fast but it’s a welcome surprise to add to my ever growing Star Trek collection. I personally will do a review probably in January of 2023. Great review and honest feedback too. Thanks for doing this video.

LOL, I was like omg he bought it but then learning they contacted you was amazing. You're living the dream man! You always say that upon holding and viewing things in person it can give you a finer appreciation, I guess they think so too! I think the accuracy is a thing for you as a collector and I can understand that(I don't buy Lego for the same reasons), the Playmobil collectors are used to the style of their toys and aren't bothered by that standard. It really feels like a flagship peice for a Playmobil collector. I hope this video gets a bunch of likes too. A fair assessment I think. I would love to see one of these in person, just having it lighting the room and making ambient noises, it looks interesting. Reminds me of Christmas.

With the greatest respect, if I had £500 sterling I would drop it on this toy. Don't get me wrong, It is steep and I get as bugged as the captain by enterprise toys not being proportionally correct, as I'm a "ship nut" too. But it's Playmobil it's going to be built like a tank. The figures are awesome. The lights and sound are amazing The AR stuff is always a Meh as unless they support it for years to come that's going to be an issue. But The accessories alone make it worth it. Playmobil don't muck about or do stuff half arsed and they have made the bridge a joy to look at. That alone makes the issues with the shape of the Primary Hull worth it. Having said that I also appriciate that the Captain IS a perfectionist and as such has a very specific view on collectables (and we wouldn't have it any other way) and also Canadian, so 700 Canadian is a really a big hit compared to 500 bucks US. I think the Admiral has nailed the middle ground well, that being she wouldn't feel like it was a waste of money if she was buying it for the captain. If one is willing to spend the price, Playmobil have done a great job bringing as much value to the toy as possible.

Looking at the size lights you get all the senior crew, Playmobil has always made good quality toys. Hell I still have toys from their first wave back from the early 80's. They were some of the toys my parents would buy for me even though they always been on the expensive side. But always a lot of fun. And as you get older they become more display pieces. I say yes it's worth the price on license and brand alone.

If Strange News Worlds does its job right in the faithful reimagining of the Enterprise, all Playmobil will have to do is to ship another set of figures and the kids have two crews to play with. Fingers crossed!

The lower saucer may be the way it is due to that may be where the electronics are, including the sound chips and such. Remember, it is a toy, regardless the price point. It is a cross between a toy and collectible. I found one on Amazon for $315.00 USD. So score for me!!

I agree with you for the price they could have added more to justify the cost. The lights need to show through out, the 2 nd engineer station should have a light behind it, extend the stickers to wrap around to give a more complete look. This is too big not to add more detail.

I'd buy it if I had space for it and a place of honor. Had some Playmobil toys as a kid. Some cowboys and Indians and set with a car. (Yes, that was a strange combination! And I did not care.) Your video makes me feel like a big kid again, going through the unboxing. Thank you.

First off, good video and review.. "Is it worth it" you asked.. It's a working model/playset that lights up, and chugs away like a prop model for under 500 bucks. And it's getting cheaper. Adding more lights to where we want, but don't actually need them would add even more cost to the overall price of production. I'm completely satisfied when you consider that collector's are selling tiny diamond select, and vintage playmates models with less functions for over £400.00 on some sites. This is a beautiful working Toy/Model, now at a decent price.. Get another one now they're cheaper, keep it sealed. You're a collector, you know the game...😉😁

What a very nice Star Trek toy. As I was watching the video, it became obvious to me that Playmobile had spent considerable engineering time and expense to design and produce it. Playmobil knows that they aren't going to sell millions of units, which would lower the price considerably. So their market research indicted a higher per unit cost at much lower estimated sales levels. The toy exudes high quality and attention to detail. Instead of complaining, at the very least, buy and support the product. However, at best, INVEST in the product that could very well sell for 200% to 300% above MSRP in second hand market in just a few years.

Given that this is more a show piece, I still think the price is way too much given what you get. For the cost I agree, more LEDs should be used to illuminate things like the windows and the consoles on the bridge. Also, the AR app shouldn't be so sketch, I'd rather have no AR development, and perhaps no Bluetooth to cut costs. As it stands, I'd pay $300 USD max. Now if they do a TMP/TWOK refit, I might spend more as that is my favorite ship.

Okay, so seeing it, I think the price is still a little high, but not as much as before. From your earlier video, my impression was that it was about 12-15" long, so $500/700 just seemed completely out of line. But based on the actual size, it's not as overpriced, but still a bit much for what it is...a toy. And I, too, really hate the weird shape of the underside of the saucer.

IF I had the income, and the space, then Hell Yeah, I'd buy one!! :-) Even if the bottom of the saucer is badly deformed... Understandable though as they wanted their figures to fit into a nicely detailed bridge area.... However... bear in mind Capt., that if you hang this monster, then the feature that you dislike the most, that deformed, out-of-proportion saucer base, is the first thing you're going to see first whenever you look at it... ;-) It really needs shelf mounting where you're always looking down at it... :-) It is though, a beautifully engineered model, with brilliant sound and lights, and from above, does look stunning - especially when you use the app to activate different modes like the warp drive! That was some great thinking and planning on PlayMobil's part... :-)

Don't get hung up on the idea, "is it worth it or not". As a viewer, all I expect is a review of the product. Your viewers are ones who will decide if this product is worth buying or not. BTW, Capt Foley in fact thought this toy was worth far more than $500. Playmobil got far more than their cost back on one toy with two days of time and effort Cpt Foley put into this video for additional air time for Playmobil.

As prefab models go, this is a winner, it looks pretty sturdy, the sound effects are on target, it actually looks better without the Weeble like figures, in fact the figures of the crew leave much to be desired. In my opinion it's definitely not worth $500.00, I'll wait a few years and I will probably find one on line, or Ebay going for $100.00 or so. The figures look rediculous, they should rethink the crew on the second Generation model, if it makes it to a second round, the price is definitely not in everyone's budget.

So, is the Playmobil toy: A) Primarily designed for kids, as it is a caricature of the "real" thing and is all about built in play value in it? B) Designed for kids but with an eye on the adult collector, as the toy is mostly accurate, but still has some compromises to allow for play features? C) A caricature toy that is designed for the adult collector, has a certain cool factor, and is mostly affordable? C) A "toy" that is primarily designed for the adult collector, due to accuracy over play value, this version usually being the most expensive? While it is a caricature, it's definitely not in the "A" category as it's too expensive for a child's toy and most kids today wouldn't be interested in Star Trek, especially 1960's Star Trek. It doesn't fall into the "B" category since it's too toy like and not too accurate. It really doesn't fit into the "C" catagory, as it's more of a kids toy and very expensive. That leaves "D" catagory, which it utterly fails at as it has major accuracy issues. So who is this toy for? To me, only extreme Star Trek toy collectors, that feel they must have every Star Trek toy in existence, and who have the cash, will want this as it is now the ultimate (to my knowledge) collectable Star Trek toy available. But, that is a very small group. I'm a model maker, not so much a toy collector, and for my money the Polar Lights 1/350 TOS USS Enterprise kit is a far better deal. It's almost as big (about 32" lg), is incredibly accurate, can be lit (with their lighting kit), and includes a bridge (very small, but more accurate then the Playmobil version) & shuttle bay. Sure, it needs more work to get the end result, but it's actually a pretty straightforward kit that most could handle. And it's a lot cheaper then this toy.

You really can't compare it to Polar Lights 1/350 model kit. That is an actual to scale model that is made to reflect the actual filming model and it is not a "toy" as this is. I think you are missing the point that it is a toy.

Nice toy but $700.....not a chance! Astronomical price for a toy. Of course this will not be bought as a toy and they know rabid adult collectors will want it so they bump up the price accordingly. They know adults..especially star trek fans will pay it. The app is just a sound effect software source. Not worth that much. No more than $400. It's funny your partner is okay with the price but you, as the face of the channel are not....there is no accounting for people! It's a nice toy though....just needs a better custom paint job!

you can't really judge the AR from the issues you were having as it would probably have worked if you hadn't been holding the camera in you hand. also its a toy not a perfectly scaled replica. its meant to bridge the gap between collectible and playable toy. if you want exact replica the your 1:350 enterprise is the ticket but this isn't meant to be that. Ive built 12 1:350 enterprises and i'll buying one of these asap. you need to stop being so hung up on it not being perfectly scaled and accept it for what it is. if they'd made the bridge accurate scale it wouldn't be playable like this is and that's what people want, to be able to interact with it. its sad how snobby trek fans are being about this.
