This is one of the best sci-fi horror creature features that you never get bored watching, the fact that they can make practical effects look so terrifying and made from a premise that sounds totally ridiculous at least on paper “underground monsters”. But that scene where everyone is hardly taking the danger seriously when Val, Earl, and Rhonda try to explain what they’re all up against makes this film even better in my opinion, because at least it’s aware and has fun with its odd premise. Shows what you can do with a concept that would not seem to work but ultimately can.

For my entire childhood I wanted that exact same pickup truck they drive through most of the movie. My friends and I used to play games, where we'd pretend there were graboids under our backyards, and we'd tried to traverse all around without ever touching the ground. Great times, great movie. It holds up so well, and I watch it every single Halloween. Also happened to be released the year of my birth. Where my other 1990ers at?

I was 19 when this movie came out and saw it twice in the theater; I quickly grew to love it. Tremors reminds me a little of the big bug movies from the 1950's. Not all of them were great, but they are enjoyable. My favorite is the 1954 film THEM! about giant, mutated ants that were a result of the atomic bomb tests in New Mexico. One of the things that made it work was that the film makers actually built giant ants that could move around. I loved the music in Tremors; it was amazing. Kevin Bacon and the late Fred Ward were great as Val and Earl; such great chemistry. A movie Finn Carter was in before Tremors was the comedy How I Got Into College. That is another movie I love. Thank you for reacting to one of my favorite movies.

The best thing about this movie is that no one is trying to hunt the monsters, they only want to escape. And it didn't need to take place in a dark and dreary setting. Broad daylight. That's freaking scary.

I first saw this film when I was 9 with my mom and dad on the local TV station and we all really enjoyed it. Ariana Richards who played Mindy is now an award winning painter. According to an interview I either read or saw years ago we shopped at the same art supply store. I've never met her though.

Such a fun movie -- silly, but not stupid. The sequel is fun, too. I'm so happy to see you reacting to it!

We plan ahead, that way we don’t do anything right now. Earl explained it to me.

The kind of funny thing about Tremors is that Michael Gross (Burt) is playing completely against type. He's way more known in America for a mid-80's sitcom called Family Ties, that also had Michael J. Fox on it, where he played a kind of liberal/pacifist dad character. So him playing a super rightwing/survivalist guy in Tremors was really great.

I know you’re not usually into looking at DTV movies, but if you’re interested in continuing with this series there are plenty of sequels. Up to the 4th was when it was good before the recent two movies that were meh. Plus there’s an underrated 13-episode series that takes place after the 3rd film. And also RIP Fred Ward

It's fun that you compare it to Jaws, that's what the writer was thinking about when he came up with this film. "what if Jaws, but on land?"
@gnericgnome42142 ай бұрын
I've already said it, but another great "Jaws on Land" movie is "The Edge", with Anthony Hopkins and Alec Baldwin. Far more serious movie, with some great and very subtle social commentary.

Great flick, if you liked it Tremors 2 is worth watching too. YMMV on the rest.

“This town need to be rid of these things once and for all!” No such luck, Mary. The town of Perfection is the setting for the prequel, the TV series, and many of the ‘countless’ sequels. But you might be happy to know, Walter’s daughter inherits the store, Miguel’s daughter is also there, AND the actor playing Melvin, reprises the role. He a bigger jerk as an adult. LOL.

Mary, I can’t believe I’m up, but I am. Good morning, all. Perfection was built from scratch for the movie.
