After the success of Tremors on home video, it should come as no surprise that it spawned a direct-to-video sequel. Tremors 2: Aftershocks released 6 years after the first, and quite a lot is different this time around. Not only are very few of the original cast present, but the creatures have fled south of the border... and a new beast has appeared! In fact things get so new, it is at times hard to see this as a sequel to Tremors...

Best lines in this movie was that about the coyote howling. *Coyote howling* Grady "Is that a coyote?" Earl "Yup" *Coyote howls again* Grady *Sleepily* "Man he better shut up!" *Coyote starts to howl again but is interrupted by graboidb eating it to witch the coyote howls more in fright* Earl "Yup"

I think I know why the RC truck with dynamite trick kept working. In the first movie, every time a clever trick or strategy was employed all of the Graboids were in the vicinity. Because of this when one died the others were able to observe what happened and learn from it very quickly. In this movie however each Graboid that gets blown up is alone, no other creatures around observe and learn so the same trick continued to work. Of course this discounts the fact that the writers may have just been plain lazy.

I actually got into the Franchise from this film, I found it ironic to me at least and dubbed it my favourite. I love the way the creature changes things up drastically, it's like your equipped to take out a tank only to find out you going to be taking on a horde. Fear can happen when you think you have everything prepared and then suddenly, things change without your say what so ever. Plus, the Shirek will always be remembered my mind.

Personally, I like how Stampede wanted to throw fans a bit of a curve-ball with each sequel, rather than just have more repetition of the same exact monster killing the same exact way. One explanation as to why the Graboids in Mexico act differently is possibly due to them being a different genetic offshoot, as we see in the later sequels that there is some variation in traits. It could be that this population of them weren't quite as bright as the ones we saw in the fist movie. Maybe this strain is the "inbred hick" strain? Also, Burt's .50 cal BMG round was "custom cast from solid bronze", as Burt had either engineered it or had it engineered to shoot a graboid though dirt.

I think why the Graboids fall for the TNT Cars every time was unlike the first film, they weren't close by to notice. Remember film 1 there was only 2 when they tried this, both of whom were surrounding them. Plus you gotta expect 1 out of so many to be smarter, but yeah since they are very spread out they have no idea the TNT is killing their friends, at least right away. EDIT:OR you could say since their so close to "birthing" they need to eat overwrote their "must kill but be smart about it".

I know I'm way late, but I disagree. I feel like leaving too much unexplained detracts from the movie. Anybody can have some unexplained monster lurking around killing people. That's not very exciting, though. Even if it's something as unique as the graboids, you can only rely on mystery for so long. In fact, something as unusual as the graboids kind of NEEDS to be explained to some extant. If the monster were just some random serial killer or a more mundane thing like a demon or a giant lizard, we could fill in the blanks ourselves. We, the audience, have seen enough horror movies to know what these things are and where they likely come from. But a screaming worm with eels for tongues that's the size of a bus? Holy shit, that's weird and new. I want to know more about it!

The practical effects in this movie are awesome, but the CGI hasn't held up all that well (then again, it had 40% of the budget of the first movie so I cut it some slack). From what I understand the reduced budget and loss of Kevin Bacon and Reba damaged the potential of the movie.

The reason that the graboids in the first one learned not to eat the explosives and the one's in the second didn't took me some time to figure out. In the fist movie they were all in relatively close proximity to each other and cold observe and learn from each others mistakes. In the second one they were more spread out and didn't have that advantage. at least that's my take on it.

This is my favorite Tremors film, never cared to see the rest apart from one. I just noticed all deaths are Mexican. Idk if I would've gotten offended since I'm of Mexican descent, but this movie was just super fun. Mariachi song was cool.

I think I know what happened to the guy with the truck that got his hands ripped off and eaten. One jumped on the hood first and started to rip it to pieces, he swives the truck and jumps out trying to get away but gets cut off by the second one jumps up on the back trying to get away, again get cut off by the third and tries to pull himself up onto the roof of the car in a last-ditch effort but gets caught by his leg(s?) and ripped away without his hands killing/eating him.

I really like the intro of the toy car it uses perspective and sound distortion to make you think they are using a massive suped up jacked up truck then you see the dynamite just slightly before the camera pans out to a toy car strapped with explosives it's a amazing use of a fake out you think they got some heavy artillery to destroy the worms then you find out it's just a toy car with some dynamite strapped to it plus the reason for no other graboids attacking earl and Grady is because the other 7 were changing hence the reason why Burt's truck looks like crap

Tremors 2 is the most under appreciated great sequels of all time. Up there with t2 and aliens. James Cameron would agree with me.

I wonder how the first Graboids and Shriekers (and the Assblasters) survived... during the pre-Cambrian era... and the Cambrian, Ordovician, Silurian and Devonian eras. As they are carnivoruos land animals, they survived about 200 million years before they had some insects to eat and another 50 million years before the first amfibious vertebrates come out of the seas. 250 million years without food!

Ya know alot of people give this movie shit about the Grabboids being stupid and not learning about RC cars, I have a counter argument. In the first movie they kept trying new ways to kill Grabboids, plus they were clustered together for the majority of it, they were able to learn from one another plus the many different attempts tried repeatedly from the same locations so they picked up pretty quick on distraction and subterfuge even going so far as to use it themselves in the climax on distracting and digging out their own traps. Four Grabboids in a geographically small and isolated location moving in a pack. In this movie they have much more room and they are engaged one by one, there is no poking at, no studying no unknowable factors, they know what they are dealing with, they track one and deal with it one at a time, when no other's are near. Even when they were being chased why run? Why not get out the RC cars and dynamite surely they had enough to fish with RC cars and continue using it... because if they did they would have learned from that folly, so they ran to regroup, even brought in someone else not only to help, but to split them up, get the job done faster before they started learning.

19:47 that only works if the creatures have been documented in the fossil records and since it's established that these creatures predated the known records and up until recently haven't been seen because they can lay dormant in an egg for indefinitely as the third movie established that the graboids in that case were dormant for over 300 years so it's unknown how long they can lay dormant but my guess is there is no real limit to that

This film focused much more on the comedy and action than the first one, and Burt Gummer becomes a major part of the film, which is good, because he's the best part of the film.

They spent more time on the Shriekers then graboids. They actual reused the same scenes of the graboids being killed.Original Tremors 2 Aftershocks was going to be filmed down under on a budget of 17mill.Universal realized it would cost to much to film not only in Australia and put in theaters. So they cut the budget to 4mill.The cast and crew fought for a theatrical release but overall Universal won and went straight to video. Also original Kevin Bacon and Finn Carter was going to return in Tremors 2 Aftershocks but schedules conflicts. The filming was completed in 95 then released in 96 during that time Kevin Bacon was filming Apollo 13.Then Finn I don't know what she was doing.I just remember reading an article in TV guide back in 94.

Tbh even tho the current life cycle is iconic I feel that they could've gone a similar route without having to sacrifice the subterranean aspects of the graboids. Something like a sand crocs instead of weird bird critters.

I enjoyed the first 2 movies a lot. It was 3 and onwards that the series started going downhill in writing and presentation. The CGI in part 3 especially didn't age well in my opinion.

I personal can justify the Grabiods not learning in this film; the ones in the first movie often where in close proximity to one another, and "saw/heard" what happened to them, therefore figuring out what did and didn't work, but in this movie they were spread out over miles and miles of Mexican countryside, and therefore unable to make such observations.and the obvious reason that no Grabiods showed up when the live one started calling out, is one of two things, they were also in the presses of birthing their own Shirkers, or the call itself is a sort of Grabiod deterrent to prevent Grabiods from "seeing/hearing" Shirkers as food.
