Not sure if someone else commented this but for the bow, just put a rubber band (the tiny clear ones work best for fine short hair) in ur hair first then clip the bow in ur hair above the rubber band. The bow will hide the rubber band and the rubber band will keep the bow from falling out. I do this all the time for my daughters hair and it works great!

Yep. Growing up in the 80s and 90s when hair bows were really a big deal, I always had to use a regular ponytail holder and then clip the bow above it. A lot of even small barrettes would slide straight out of my hair.

I find that my biggest regrets are always "good enough" pieces. For a while I had tried to be secondhand only but being midsized makes it more difficult to find my perfect piece so I often would thrift stuff that wasn't totally what I wanted, but was the best I could find I'm my size. Of course I ended up not wearing them as much as I thought. This year I started buying new stuff again. Even if fast fashion isnt good for the planet, it's easier on my mind and my self image to buy one piece that's absolutely perfect instead of 3-4 good enoughs that I never wear. But before buying new I try to make sure to search for the item secondhand first.

I have a mindset of "that'll be good enough for work." We can wear navy, white, or black tops, and jeans or khakis. We also wear aprons so ill-fitting clothes get covered. I also want to be comfy and unrestricted since I have to kneel or reach above me for things.
@madelinerkeller Жыл бұрын
I've been in that cycle before and started buying a couple things from fast fashion brands because I was never fully satisfied and confident in the things I found thrifting. The biggest thing I keep in mind is to look at the tag/materials. If something is like all polyester I won't buy it because I know it will deteriorate so quick. If I have to buy from fast fashion I try to be super intentional about getting pieces I can have and wear for a very long time.

i have taught myself if there’s anything that i wish was different on a piece / not exactly what i wanted but similar , i will not get it . too many times i have ended up regretting such purchases bc i still end up wishing for my original idea . this is a super good video idea , always love ur trend deinfluencing content 💞
@lestranged Жыл бұрын
For me, if there's some small thing I wish was different, I buy it and then change that thing (if it's changeable). If it's a little bit too big in the waist: I take it in. If it's sleeves are too long: I shorten them. If I hate the buttons: I switch them out. If I love the skirt part of a dress but hate the bodice: I chop it off and turn it into a skirt. I never expect anything mass produced to fit me perfectly.
@nicole-rb4iw Жыл бұрын

The bit about sheer stuff made me think about how even the influencers who are wearing that stuff ‘outside’ even have shared occasionally that they also wear more conservative clothes and then change into that just for the pic. Like some of us have this idea in our brain that there are other people wearing some of this stuff out and about cuz we see isolated pics of it but that’s not even the case 🫠🫠
@emmy8526 Жыл бұрын
Love this level of thoughtfulness and analysis. Unfortunately one often has to try things to find out what’s a personal no-no, which is why it’s best to do it secondhand as you often do since more sustainable and less expensive. For the denim skirt, there’s a hack where you cut two 2-3 inch lengths of elastic (about 3/4 or 1 inch wide) and hand sew their ends to the inside sides of the skirt in such a way as to scrunch the sides there. Pin and try various positioning to get the level of snugness you want, then hand sew down the ends of the elastic (add Fray Check if you have some to the elastic ends) using matching blue embroidery thread (stronger than regular thread), and also tack the elastic down in the middle at the seam so it doesn’t pop up above the waistline. See if that helps. And if it doesn’t, you can easily snip the embroidery thread and remove the elastic pieces if you still need to resell.
@HighMaintenanceMinimalist Жыл бұрын
The Agolde fit issue is something that can easily be fixed with a few inches of thread. If you like everything else about the skirt, it's worth altering it yourself or taking it to a tailor. Clothing isn't made for us, so it we shouldn't hesitate to get our favorite pieces altered.
@kirosakeet Жыл бұрын
As you've paid a lot for the shoes I think it might be well worth it to take them to a cobbler and ask them to replace the buckle to a different kind of buckle. There are buckles with snap attachment etc. A cobbler can easily switch them for you 😊 That way putting them on will be much faster and you'll get more wear out of them.

I’ve been quite interested in the colour analysis recently and I think you may be a True Spring. It’s definitely helpful to do a bit of research into it so you don’t feel the need to drop money on the official analysis, limiting my purchases to my palette colours has been another way for me to reduce over consumption and regret :)

I think sheer works for layering or as a detail (sleeves, collar, inserts, etc) on a garment. Wearing a head to toe sheer, see-thru dress would probably not work for most of us. But layering a sheer lace skirt over another skirt in maybe a contrasting color adds texture & visual interest. A sheer crop top worn over a maxi tank dress is another way to make it work. I have owned many sheer blouses & always wore a cami underneath. I was never brave enough not to.

Before you give the big bow away, I wonder if you’ve tried the Bobby pin trick? Where you make an “x” with your Bobby pins where you want the bow to be and you clip them either on top or actually into the Bobby pins. They kinda hold each other up. Just a suggestion to try. It’s such a cute bow 💜

Several of these issues can be fixed with very easy DIYs. The long denim skirt gapping at the waist: just alter it or take it to be altered! I am so used to fixing small issues myself that it always shocks me people will get rid of something they otherwise like over such small , fixable issues.

This is such a great video. I’ve been in the process this year of learning to not buy clothes just because I like how they look. I have really started to think about pieces before I buy them in a more practical and critical way, and 99% of the time I end up not even wanting something if I give it an extra few minutes of thought. For me it helps to think about how I will feel when the item actually is in my possession. Will I be happy or will I feel guilty that I bought something I didn’t need and probably won’t wear. I’ve been doing the same thing with household decor and knickknacks.

About not being able to try stuff on at thrift stores without dressing rooms, maybe you could make a video about what to wear to go thrifting? Wearing something like leggings and a bralette under a loose jacket makes it way easier to try on stuff like dresses or skirts without getting naked in the aisles. It is still a struggle though, I always seem to end up not being able to tell if my bra straps or seams are showing through because the fabric of the garment is too clingy/sheer or because I'm wearing the wrong bra for it. Yeah, but then because maybe my hips it doesn't fit mid rise like my hips stop it. The one that I tried in my normal size was the same way so I just think it's the proportions that aren't right on me which maybe pinning the waist would possibly help.

@@alexasunshine83😉Feel your pain. It's such a gorgeous skirt too🥺. ⏳️As an extreme hourglass, find I must often size up⬆️ to fit breast+hips😂. Doing this can leave me w/excess fabric bulk at the waist🤣. Anything w/belt loops can be cinched in, but it's rarely a pretty sight😖. No loops? I will sometimes use 2 medium binder clips to corral some of that material. While it's effective, again it's not pretty😔. 🤔Both options require some clever camoflauge. Either a topper layer (like a longer gilet or blazer) where you can shift some of the bulk toward to back to make it less obvious. Or, resort to a front tuck w/my top. Where the untucked shirt can drape to hide that mess. Skirts w/more flexible fabric can sometimes be pulled down lower ⬇️ to sit more securely on hips. Heavier fabrics like denim don't sit nicely in place. They tend to ride up. 😊Don't feel bad if you decide to sell it online. 💚Bridget from Cali☘️ (using my pal's YT acct)

I almost bought the same doc marten Mary Janes but I couldn't get myself to spend so much on shoes. I bought these Madden Girl chunky heeled Mary Jane's for only $30. I wore them to Men I Trust and gave myself bunions lol. Moral of the story: next time I'll just look for second hand docs instead of destroying my feet in the span of 3 hours 🤠
