Honda XR400 had RFVC .motor that was the worst motor Honda made valve and camshaft problems up the wazzu. It was DOHC water cooled Suzuki DRZ400K that lasted 5 times more than a Honda dumb ass.

I never had a XR400 but i do have XL and XR older 185 XL/XR never brake, HOnda XL100k3 1978 i got it used in 1979 stil today 2024 runiing. XL500S 80 , never brake, all Hondas SL XL XRs till 82are bullet proof.

Sorry, but i know who ever owned Hondas Yamahas Suzuki and kawas, knows that bullet proof belongs to Hondas SL XL XR CBs from 50cc 70 75 80100 125 185 200 250 350 500 600 . all the way to 600 ( 650 XRL not convinced about that bike and teh650Rliquid cooled i never owenr i can notmake opinon ) from 70s to late 80s years after that not really the bets quality ,whent down. follow by TT XT yamahas 80s to late 90s ,I own a 92 TT600 wondefull bike real nice bike handle and suspension, bullet proof but realy good bikes crack easy if abuse . The DR s not a bad bike, as suzuki typical bad when old, electric problems. Kawasaki KLs powerful soft, not a bullet proof not and enduro bike to me on off road long trips probably. Not a bike to abuse. Bullet proof nick name bellongs to thos Hondas. no other.
