Such a memory. We were 2nd Lt’s in the Air Force near Sacramento, CA in 1969. We took our 6 week old son on a camping weekend in the mountains east of Rancho Cordova with other young couples from our Squadron. The beginning of many, many camping trips with our kids. Now 76 years old, we are still on the go, until the wheels come off!!!

I miss off-roading. Just a tip: when rock-crawling, never wrap your thumbs under the steering wheel; keep them on top of the wheel to prevent injury if the wheel spins due to unexpected vehicle response to the terrain. Some folks have ended up with broken or injured thumbs because they were wrapped under the steering wheel.

PRO TIP FOR PUMPING MAMA’s!! If you’re in a situation like this, and happen to have a cooler… place your pumping parts in a large ziplock bag, and put it in the fridge/cooler that you have. As long as it stays cold, you can pump another time with those same parts and then wash. Saves lots of time only having to wash every other time. I exclusively pumped with my little guy after 6 months because he wouldn’t take anything but the bottle at that point, and I was so so so grateful to receive that tip! ❤️ So happy to see Leo is happy, healthy, and loving overlander life 🥰

Yeahhhhh! Freedom!!! I firmly believe that the most centred children are exposed to all kinds of experiences and adventures from the get go! Our daughter was 2 weeks old when she was out on her first adventure. By the time she was 4 she had more miles on her than most people get in a life time. She has grown into a capable confident unflappably woman.
@pamelaremme382 жыл бұрын
No one is saying not to expose your children to "experiences." There does come a point when you have to evaluate IF something would happen am I equipped to protect my child. Enough water, food, CELL SERVICE etc. There are many EXPERIENCES that children can be exposed to and experience WITHOUT putting them in danger. Tell me....does your daughter REMEMBER the experience at TWO WEEKS OLD? If not...what is the point?

Hi, Trent and Allie, I am Barney and live in Perth Western Australia. My whife and I do a lot of 4x4 and Caravaning. One thing we always take with us is a thermo pot. It can cook your meals with no power. It works like a gaunt Thermos. You partly cook the food, place it in the thermo pot, seal it up and the heat form the party cook food. Love your video

I love hearing those little Leo sounds - so adorable!! I've found when riding or hiking with babies, they will likely sleep, so plan to ride/hike during nap/sleep times and be stopped for awake times so they can stretch and play. It equates to WAY less mileage, which is a difficult adjustment to make, but it keeps the baby happy and prevents them from sleeping all day. We've camped a fair bit with babies, and if they sleep all day, it makes for very, very long and sleepless nights for everyone. When they become toddlers, then car rides and hikes become even more interesting -- just prepare yourself for "toddler pace," enjoy the trip through their curious eyes, be flexible, have back-up plans, take lots of breaks, give lots and lots and lots of snacks, and keep mileage on the lower side.

@@elgringoec Yes, they haven't realized that their lives change and you make sacrifices when you have children. Been there, done that....more tired after the adventure....eventually stopped until the children were older. Sacrifices. Everyone wants babies but they don't realize how their lives change.
@elgringoec2 жыл бұрын
@@pamelaremme38 Yeah, it's a real adventure just bringing up the kids! Complications don't help matters. Some parents seem more ready for the reality than others, and some parents are more focused on what's best for the kids over their other interests. It's a learning curve and it's populated from end to end. Grandparents can be a pain because they're trying to convey what they've learned to the new parents - well, a pain or a blessing depending on how receptive the new parents are to learning the easy way. 😁
