Redesigning a classic character from Final Fantasy 7, I tried to be true to what the original was, before the new remake is released this year. I get a bit nostalgic and talk about demo discs and my first experience with FF7. I also talk a bit about how to improve your poses and techniques for sketching out your characters with line art. How to draw more confident lines.

Its amazing how efficiently you can structure the pose and add the characters known traits + details at the same time. it reflects the time you have spend on drawing in your life. have been having an art block for a long time. and it makes me anxious because after my military service only thing I'm intetested is going into game graphic school. hope I can rekindle my inspiration there if not rekindled before. If not don't know what to do.

Just fyi the buster sword was a sword passed down to cloud. It is not an original part of his overall kit story wise but that is explained in the ff 7 crises core release on psp. Just thought I might clarify just so you know. Because you are right with that statement it looks a little off for clouds design.

Do you keep your pen pressure at 100% and only play with opacity? I'm having trouble with line weight, also to get 100% I have to press on the tablet so strong.

Pooh I'm drooling all over that mechanical arm. Question tho Trent, how do i expand on drawing more detail that translates into interesting armor or gear? I use reference(your work alot too) but I don't want to rip people off too much. Oh and a couple of suggestions for character redesigns: Megaman or Zero would be even better. Earthworm Jim would be epic too!

FF7 was the first FF game I played, and was also the first game I bought for my PlayStation. I actually was looking for FF8 after seeing an ad with the CG ballroom scene (if you've played the game), but couldn't find a copy so grabbed 7...I am glad that I didn't find 8 that day! I am a bit worried about the 7 remake, sure it will tell the story, and probably sell really well, but I don't think it will be the remake/remaster that many fans have been asking for!

Whatever you do for your weapon tutorial, don't just make swords. Too cliche. In fact no swords would make for a cool challenge. Gets the creative juices flowing for you and your audience
