Darrell Brooks, who was convicted in the Waukesha parade attack, is attending a hearing to eventually set up his sentencing date. A jury convicted Brooks of all 76 counts including 6 counts of homicide.

There was a recent video of his grandmother, who says she's a pastor stating she would speak on his behalf via zoom, to highlight his mental illness. Not sure where the good reverend was when he was impregnating minors, shooting a gun at his nephew, driving without a license, beating up women, bail jumping, and now murdering 6 innocent people. Can anyone imagine, going out to a festive event with your loved ones and never returning home the same again?!

We become concerned with safety even though it’s a guarantee we all know there can be a chance and we want the safety to be the addressed concern. It isn’t hard to contact the individuals you want to testify on zoom on your behalf. Even in prison there are definitely ways to do this. Especially since the individuals you are contacting are character witnesses so they would know you. All he needs to do is call his mother with a list of names and numbers. Tell them that on this date they will have to testify on zoom. Also this trial is PUBLIC!!! So why hasn’t his mother been there even one day?? Not one of these character witnesses have been there. It has all been news, public, friends and family of the slain or injured.

It gives those families who want to speak a chance to describe just what it is that he has done to them, and to bear witness, so to speak for those they lost, and for the futures that some of the living have lost too. The prosecutors had a literal multitude of potential witnesses and hundreds more exhibits they could have put into evidence. They chose instead to present a very tight, economical set of testimonies and exhibits that concentrated on people whose involvement could kill several birds with one stone: people who filled in crucial gaps in video coverage, people who could testify to what happened strategically (the zigzag route of the SUV, witnessing what happened to several people, etc.). But this leaves the bereaved and the traumatized (or those who speak for them) as the only people without a voice in this. They should be able to say, as bluntly as they like, what this man actually did to them and their families.

Probably he griped about shackles and somebody made a joke - and he seized on to act as if he is taking it seriously. This is very familiar to people who have had to live or work with such people - they affect to believe any flippant or sarcastic passing comment, or insist that any tiny slip of the tongue (like saying “He went left, no sorry, right”) means that either the person who misspoke is lying - or they use it to insist and insist that their preferred version is the one that counts. This is the stage most people pass aged about seven or eight.

The black cloth and the chair were to prevent the jury from seeing that he was wearing shackles, in case it prejudiced them, the cloth covering if the shackles was to silence them in case the jury heard the links clashing.

It's the cycle of violence, put in fast forward. There's the threat of abuse ("Do it. Move me to the other court room. I'm going to talk about subject matter jurisdiction. I'm going to interrupt you so just move me."), then the outburst that gets him moved, continued outburst because the judge (his attempted victim) didn't back down, then the honeymoon phase where he seems like he can behave like a civilized human and he gets unmuted or welcomed back to the courtroom. Judge put on record for him to CHOOSE to wear street clothes instead of jail orange, she told him she placed the black skirt there for the same reason for street clothes was to allow him humility before the jury. If you ask me most of what the court allowed was ABOVE and BEYOND heaven should've allowed. Kudos to Prosecutors for addressing the courts leniency but at same time I understand ... leave no room for mistrial.

Boohoo, suicide watch is exactly what they do for all convictions when people act the way you did. The judge doesn't care if you were on suicide watch without your consent. Life is going to get much tougher for you now that you've been convicted & none of the public care. She doesn't care if you don't understand what sealed or unsealed is. He's going to try to be his own Atty in the next cases he has but the judges aren't going to allow it. It doesn't matter to this court what is going on with your other cases considering it has nothing to do with this case & once you're sentenced they can use it as evidence in those other cases. It probably was a shock device and you, Darrell Brooks, have certainly proven you should be wearing one! You killed and injured over 76 people, your anger has no bonds, and you made it obvious during your trial that your behavior could have certainly escalated into uncontrollable anger at every chance you had to injure those in your presence. Mr. Brooks is a very dangerous individual and should be treated as such.
