SYNOPSIS:
Justinian was one of the greatest emperors of the Roman Empire. He came the closest to achieving the Renovatio Imperii - the 'renewal' or restoration of the empire. In this episode he faces some of the most demanding trials of his illustrious reign. The conquest of Italy under the esteemed general Belisarius, the deadly war with Persia, and then the most disastrous - the Great Plague of Justinian.

@@FlashPointHx Oh my God, thank you so much! You know those times when you want to hear some specific song or a soundtrack but you cannot remember it's name so you keep searching for like months for it? Yeah, that was 0 AD soundtrack for me. And you finally revealed me the name of that soundtrack. Again thank you so much! And yeah, it's great song for the type of story like the one of Justinian's plague.

@@FlashPointHx True, makes me wonder what other 'corners' of the Roman and Persian empires could've become major global powers like Islam if things just went a little differently. Like if Clovis and the Franks didn't become Catholic and instead chose a different version of Christianity or even returned to Paganism.

Really starting to dampen my own obsession with Justinian... the dude just blew through the treasury so fast, and for nothing. Didn't even compeltely take italy, not that it really would've done much, but connecting the balkans back with italia would've been much more solid than leaving it essentially an island peninsula separate from the mainland. And 11k pounds of gold to the persians for what obviously would be a peace MAYBE for a few decades was just insanely dumb.

It amazes me that black peoples were blamed for these plagues and blamed and exiled from the land, when in fact it was an actual animal that caused the division of the human race. Thank God we have and trust science to prevent situations like this😑 or do we? Furthermore this is why Muslims and other orthodox religions detest dogs and other animals and why cats were praised. It is also why those cultures favored modest light weight fabric. Light weight fabric that could be washed daily prevented flee infestations. A snake divided man from woman. And a rat and flea crumbled man from God by forcing them to kill each other. Humans will never learn.
