I remember when I first saw Raplh McQuarrie's concept art in my Phase II book. My initial idea was that it would be a mile long just like the original Star Destroyers. Of course the Enterprise D took up that mantle as a much bigger starship. But still not as big as an original Star Destroyer from Star Wars. But Ralph did design both.
@user-roninwolf19812 жыл бұрын
From what I remember, the ships that were closest in size to the Imperial 1 Star Destroyer were the Romulan D'Deridex Warbird and the Jem'Hadar Dreadnought Carrier (not to be confused with the Jem'Hadar Planetary Assault Ship that is 3x the size of the Jem'Hadar Dreadnought Carrier), the Kazon Predator-Class, and the USS Vengeance from Star Trek Into Darkness. The Narada and the Voth City Ship were each roughly half the total length of the Executor.

I see the Crossfeild herself though my mind’s image is based off the Discovery version. Serving through til the 24th century. As a flying Area 51 ship. Her and maybe a small number of siblings serving to develop, test and design new technologies as a flying laboratory. This would give it a different mission set than Oberth or any of the other ships in the fleet. Even Saru says something to that effect.

This is a perfect TOS version of the Crossfield, but there's no way the Discovery or Glenn (as we know them) were of it's lineage. I still say Discovery, and Enterprise before, are on a separate timeline. One created by the events of First Contact, as well as Voy: Future's End (and a few others), where Earth's technology was radically accelerated by both the timeship landing in th 1960's, as well as the presence of the Enterprise E during the Phoenix's final construction and launch, then later the Borg, after they were (re)discovered in the Arctic. Why would Zephraim Cochram suddenly go from a rocket based design to a saucer out of nowhere? while this is the Crossfield class in the original Prime timeline, the Discovery and Glenn (and every other starship class introduced in the 1st 2 seasons of Discovery) are part of the new accelerated timeline, and descendants of the NX-01 and Columbia classes, rather than any ships actually in the original Prime timeline at the time (the XCV-330 by chance? it does look like it's directly inspired by Vulcan ring ships). I think this would better explain the new Klingon design as well, actually. in the Prime timeline, the NX-01 never helped cure the Klingon's out of control genetics experiment, and the Klingons gave up on their genetics experiments until they could fix it themselves, so those are the Klingons we see in the original series. Whereas, in the new timeline, after Soong helps fix the original experiment's issues, the Klingons keep on modifying themselves, until we have the Klingons we see in the 1st season of Discovery. It would also explain how they were able to so thoroughly modify Voq into Ash Tyler.
@TriAngulumAudioStudios2 жыл бұрын
Except you are wrong about this... The question of timeline was answered already by those who own Star Trek... It IS the Prime Timeline, and that is that! It doesnt matter how anyone feels or thinks or wishes... So to continue to put forward these thoughts, after 4 Years of being told the truth, is just a waste of time and energy!
@sarreqteryx2 жыл бұрын
@@TriAngulumAudioStudios I'm aware what Paramount likes to claim, and I'm not saying it's not A Prime timeline, but it's not THE Prime timeline, I actually call it the Prime Beta timeline (at present, I'm still revising things). There are way too many inconsistencies between THE Prime (Prime Alpha 0) timeline and Prime Beta.
@TriAngulumAudioStudios2 жыл бұрын
But it is THE PRIME TIMELINE, not a Beta Timeline, THE Prime Timeline. You have no say over that, you are just a fan with again wishes, and if wishes were horses, we'd all have stables. They don't "Claim" anything, they dictate, as they are the only ones that can! The only "claiming" here is being done by you, and again, you're just wrong. So you can be stubborn like a Flat Earther, or just accept the facts are they are, and move on... As to inconsistencies, only visually are there really any. Canon, the events themselves, are absolutely fine. So you may not like it, but it IS what is the truth, and after 4 years, it's time to get over it! The majority of fandom is sick of the constant whining, and I agree with them. Just like TMP, where everything was visually updated, So too Trek has been once again. And visual updates dont change the Timeline or the fact that Paramount has told us it IS the same timeline as all other Trek Shows! Roddenberry himself was once asked about the changes he made to the Klingons for the Motion Picture, by a fan at a convention I was at. He paused for a moment, looked up and said, what change? That's the way the Klingons always looked, it's just that you couldnt see it before. And if that logic is good enough for the Creator of the Entire Franchise, it's good enough for us all. I look at every Trek Show as a dramatization of the events that took place, not actual footage of those events. That way, any visual inconsistencies don't matter at all. So I suggest you do the same, because you've lost that particular war, and are just wasting valuable time with that nonsense! Take Care!
@matthewsalazar35752 жыл бұрын
This really explained why there were 2 variants of the Crossfield Class. I was originally trying to think of which came first...but you show a simultaneous build...which makes total sense. And its easy to see how both variants are related. Love the TOS Style. It os so true to the design aesthetic of the era...although so far the Discovery-A is still my favorite. You also explain why we don't ever see or hear about the Crossfield design or the Spore Drive in any Star Trek series. Which ties it all together rather nicely.

Sorry but you're wrong on all fronts, including your original, now altered comment. First, Star Trek Online, as Im sure you know, is NOT canon, and thus nothing in it can be displayed as fact. It's actually ridiculous to think that the Glenn Class would even exist in Trek reality as it is clearly a cash grab by the game... Second, Star Trek III which takes place shortly before Star Trek IV, shows a Crossfield Class in Spacedock. So it did in fact survive the TOS Era and made it all the way to 2286... @TriAngulumAudioStudios2 жыл бұрын
It's not ego stroking, it's just Fact ;) As to "dividing fandom" you are incorrect about this too actually. Ive received 100's of comments, tweets and messages over the years dealing with this exact topic. And very few fans are divided on the issue. TrekSphere and I even conducted a HUGE poll in all the FB Groups and on Twitter to determine just how divided Fandom was. This included groups dedicated to hating DSC. And what we found was only 24% of the Original Fandom dislike DSC. That's not even close to being divided, rather it places whiners in the minority. And to be blunt, it's time to get over it. It's been 4+ years and NO one is interested in the negativity and whining anymore. You dont like DSC, that's good for you, but dont try and spread that nonsense everywhere you go. And since Season 3 is the last Season of Orville, it having been moved to Hulu in a failed attempt to save the show, all just proves that Old Trek doesnt work. DSC has a LOT of optimism, it's just done in a more realistic by today's standards way, and Im ok with that. And if you can't see that, because you've blinded yourself, well that's on you. So in closing, we get it, you dont like DSC, now move on! (Thread CLOSED- No further Comments Will Appear)
