Videos like these are a good reminder that every culture has strange foods that look and taste weird to outsiders. Cheese might seem ordinary to Americans, but in other countries it's weird to intentionally curdle milk, skim off the solids, and then only eat the result after it's sat in a cellar for months and filled up with bacteria and mold.
@h.a.75813 жыл бұрын
Agreed, our villagers here are mostly about milk, butter, curd/yogurt or ghee rather than cheese. cheese is usually made only by those farmers who are related to the cheese industry or production of some variety. Khoya (also made by curdling milk) is more common here in the villages as it's used in making mithayis (sweet meat) and halwas. cheese called paneer in Urdu is known to the villagers of Pakistan but not as liked especially amongst the elderly.

6:16 I love the way the camera cuts from person to person as they all take big hearty bites of whatever they are eating..but then the camera cuts to Mustafa, poking little bits of food around on his plate like its the last thing on earth he wants to eat..Then more cuts person to person all taking a big mouthful bites.. and thennnn back to Mustafa who's now found a small enough speck of cheese or bread that he is ready to take a baby sized bite of. Funny stuff.

Lots of people dip their grill cheese in ketchup, especially kids. I suspect these grill cheese weren’t made properly or with a good cheese.
@sdraper20113 жыл бұрын
Yeah who makes a grilled cheese with just cheese and white bread? That's like the worst possible grilled cheese. We make it with three different kinds of cheese, a fried egg, and grilled onions, on oat bread. And we have it with a tomato bisque and we dip it in that, too.

OK, personally, the last sandwich I would have had them try was that grilled cheese. Many of the selections had things in it their pallets just were not used to. The old feller is a hoot when you see him try each one. He takes a mini bite and says he tried it. Bless him for being loyal to his own native food. LOL
